Attack On Titan live action film first look at characters

I want this to be good but I don't think I've seen a good anime/manga turned live action movie that turned out well. Gantz? Library Wars? Blugh.

I like their equipment in these promotional shots though.

They have rocket launchers in Attack on Titan?

They used bows in attack on Titan?

trainwrek or mildly serviceable despite chasing trends? take your pick.

Why does Sasha look like she's posing for The Hunger Games?

I want to know how the titan and the action scenes are handled....though I have a bad feeling the titans will be CGI.

It won't. Posted multiple times already was a preview of what the SFX team is doing with the titans. Mostly practical effects, that looked great.

This will be terrible. Not that the source material is that good to begin with but this will be so trashy it will be great for watching it drunk

They should have gotten Sasha's actress to be doing Zoe's pose and replaced the rocket launcher with a potato.

Why do they always have to go and add shitty original characters in these live action movies, smh.

I like most of the costumes though

A made up race in a fictional setting so it's no biggie, plus she doesn't really look drastically different to anyone in the show skin color wise or anything.

At least the aesthetic looks right and they're casting Asians over bland white guy #230

Well in this case, everyone other than Mikasa and her mom being white would actually fit the source material.

But it's a Japanese production so it's understandable. Wish they would die Armin's hair blonde though.

I thought the confusion was just because of the manga's bad art, and it was cleared up by the anime alredy?

I don't think it was intentional, but the author kind of went along with the androgyny, apparently. Then again, he also approved the English title as "Attack on Titan."

I guess I'm into the philosophy of "actors who could act out the "characters' spirits" without having to depend too much on how they look, but seven new original characters and rocket launchers? Weird.

I am so sick of all this asian-washing we got going around. All the characters except mikasa are supposed to be european. Racist corperate execs

:p

They better dye that Annie.

Honestly, if there was one character I hoped would be cast white it's her to get those blue eyes and blond hair look without contacts and a wig (which look way too fake).
And yes, her wonderful and distinguished trademark of aquiline nose!!! That is like NEVER seen in anime/mange unless it's on an old character :P (or 90% of the "Londoners" in the K-on Movie

Hange is still androgynous in the manga. He gives all of the other female characters the usual body types, but Hange was cleary drawn with a flat and blocky figure not all that long ago.

So when will we get the inevitable American version
starring Tom Cruise
?

The cast includes seven characters that are new to the film versions of the story. Sanspo reports that Hasegawa's character Shikishima holds the key to the film's story as "humanity's strongest man."
It's like they don't realize the Trost arc is nearly perfectly fine on its own for a film.

This is the problem with Anime to live action film adaptation, they make these characters blonde and blue eyes or western looking in the anime they give them western names like Akkermann etc and then it is difficult to reconcile the contrast when I see the actors assigned to the roles.

So when will we get the inevitable American version
starring Tom Cruise
?

It'll probably be better than this, more budget, better special effects and actors that resemble their Anime counter part.

Is it weird I'd kinda look forward to that a bit more?
Give it some grim-depressing directing ace too. I hate the sort-of action-y shounen anime tone of the TV series (compared to the manga).

Those lens flares. What is this, Photoshop 3?

And how the hell does enough light shine off a bow to cause one?

For those who keep doing drive-by posts saying "It's probably gonna be terrible CGI!". Please stop. I mean, it was already posted by based on the commercial the SFX involved in the film did, that won't be the case in the least bit.

Before CG, we had costumes and practical effects. Japan excels at this (in most cases).

There are plenty of legit reasons to start the 15 page bitching fest, so let's use those and not made up ones.

Aren't the characters supposed to be German? That's what I always assumed based on character names, the look of the architecture, and the German in the intro song.

Sind sie das essen? Nein, wir sind die Jager!
