Spider cam might be alright if it was in HD, as is the resolution is terrible and you can barely make anything out. Agree that tomorrow is going to be awesome, super Saturday is my favorite time of the week.

On Tom Waterhouse i had a patient not long ago who told me i look just like him. The whole time he was in hospital he called me Tom (at first i didn't know why). Felt like offing myself lol.

That too about the spidercam. I liked it the first few times I saw them use it on Thursday and the amusement has now completely worn off. There was a couple of shots using it tonight that went for 30 secs or more. I was begging them to switch views, alas they did not. It's a stupid gimmick and it needs to go.

Super Saturday is slightly less super with only 2 games on. Looks like it's moved to Sunday with 3 games on (and the one on 9 is still on delay, grrr) until Round 10. Still an awesome day though.

Oh, and wipe that smug look off your face, Tom. :p

3 Cities in the Asteroid Crater now, with a 4th in Mandiller picks up his invite.

5 if Jintor switches over from the darkness of North America 2.

I kinda wish they would either move the 3rd game away from Saturday or slightly change the times so the 3rd game didn't overlap. Say either a 3rd sunday game (3 sunday arvo games would be amazing) or change the times to 3.30, 5.30 and 7.30 or 4, 6 and 8. Seems a waste to have 2 games overlapping.

I just quickly pulled this from my phone, so you can see what to expect over the next 2 days.

Saturday afternoon/night isn't a problem because there's no clash there. Sunday isn't much of a problem either, considering 9's delayed game, which will be Storm vs Dragons. So on both days there will be a constant stream of football, with only a 30 min break between 9's game and Sharks vs Titans on Fox.

Looking at the weeks ahead, it seems there are only one or two rounds out of the already scheduled 20 where there is a clash on a Saturday night. That's pretty good, so you can quite consistently watch both games live one after the other.

I just reached the inverted castle in SOTN and I think to myself that DMC4's backtracking would have been better received if they turned the world upside down.

So one of my friends has started a youtube series of our animated DnD adventures. So far its only part of our 4th edition adventure and not my preferred 3.5 but who knows what's to come~ Anyway if you're interested (in my adventures or just DnD/role playing games in general) you can check it out here. Also featuring boyfriend?! and swisslion!

:D

had a nice little farewell dinner thing with some friends. friend semi surprise organised it at a place I've been meaning to try for a while as well, which was v. nice. good food, good wine, good night!

also I'm sick of packing. i have too much loser gamer nerdy crap, like i didn't even realise how much of a loser i was until i had to sort through and move boxes n boxes of stuff into the garage...and I was pretty certain on throwing out a lot of of stuff too but then I chickened out:/

aww man! Packing is the best bit! its so exciting (and yet time consuming) sorting through everything. Are you taking everything over then?

;.; Don't abandon the Aus-gaf thread just cause you're in fancy HK now!

Neat! It's a shame context is kind of hard to demonstrate without showing large portions of a session, so some of whatever is going on is missed in these vignettes.

The character who kicked over that ladies box of goods is a dick. How in the hell did they get an invite to her place after that? "You're a bunch of rude jerkholes who are making fun of what I do. I know, come back to my place for some homemade mead, which you'll surely ridicule also!"

i wonder what you would have thought about our short lived dnd sessions, in terms of how we interacted with the world and characters.

So if I go buy a 12gb PS3, I can swap in my old hd from the dead one right? I know it will be formatted and lose all the data, but I'm resigned to that anyway.

CAN FUCK OFF
Any particular reason why? I don't love bookies, myself, but this just seems random, otherwise.

I think everyone goes through that period, deek, especially when they're forced to look at the accumulation of one's life purchases when moving. Even still I look at some of the things that I still own and buy and think of how much money and time I've wasted on certain hobbies and what it says about me. I think the best thing that it says about you is that you're growing as a person and reevaluating what's important in your life, especially when you're about to undertake a large and exciting step in your life. Don't let it get you down, deek. The things that you own served a purpose in a stage of your life that you may or may not be moving on from; they don't define you.

The best thing about moving is that it allows you to start afresh. You'll arrive in Hong Kong with a minimum of possessions and it will allow you to to examine and decide what it truly important to you. It may still be your so-called "loser crap" (which it isn't) or it may not be. The important thing is to not allow your possessions and interest to define who you are, only to inform the interests that have made you who you are (which is a fantastic person).

All the best with the packing, deek. I know what you're going through. It's important that you don't get down on yourself but use the opportunity to look at where your interests and priorities now lie. On the plus side, Hong Kong is full of loser crap and people that love loser crap! Like a pig in muck! :) On the down side, you may have to watch a lot of Canto comedies.

Yeppers.

Thanks. Off to hit up the local commercial temple.
Godspeed, my friend. Remember to take offerings to pay tribute to the Gods of Commerce.

The SimCity thing is hitting all sorts of hilarious levels.
I'm okay with the public backlash that this game has received (always online, single player queses, etc) but, at the end of the day, the only people held accountable will probably be Maxis. Will they survive EA's shitty decisions? It would be sad if they don't.

The gods were pleased, 12gb PS3, $210 after trade in from 249, plus a copy of GT5. Quite happy with that. So, I should swap the hd over before firing it up for the first time, right?

Yeah, as soon as you put the HD in and fire it up, it will format the drive for you. If you don't, you'll need to configure your account again when you put the old harddrive in.

Well done on the new acquisition. My condolences on your loss.

So, can you keep those ps+ games forever?
Small caveat, just in case you didn't already know: you only keep the games forever if you keep on paying for PS+ forever. You time with those games ends with your subscription.

Thanks for your help, and sympathies :) I see this as a bright new future for my smaller, but uglier console.

Edit: Hang on, the manual says I need a mounting bracket, is that the same as the one on my dead console, can I reuse it?

Yeah. Hopefully you'll be able to pull the old one out (without having to try and unscrew those horrible blue screws) and shove it in the new one. 5 seconds!

Yeah, that's kind of his Shtick. I think the DM's kind of adapted and now most of the npcs just ignore him :p We did have a fun time the other night were he spent 30 minutes trying to break into a caravan. Turned out our main quest was to guard said caravan almost right after he stopped harassing the caravan owner -_- funny though.

I'm not sure what to do about the context problem, but it's rather frustrating. Maybe if the dm did an intro or something...?

Just in case you didn't catch my edit:

In the meantime, it looks like you could place it in there and just wedge some cardboard in the slot to keep it horizontal. Then, when you buy a caddy your can just take the drive out and put the caddy in.

Yeah, I have to go out out anyway this arvo, I'll pick one up then, and give the guy at the counter a bit of an earful for not telling me when I told him I was swapping over the hd :)

I would think the fun part would be to let him be a giant dick if that's what he wants, otherwise his character has no agency. Other characters would pull him into line if he wasn't toeing the party line. This way he might still be dickish, but reign himself in. But then again, it's D&D and there's often no player agency anyway. I'll stop now, this isn't game session critique.

As for context, I later noticed that's provided in the video description. A little extra detail there would help, especially in the first video. Why is he taking a lung? Is this something his character does, is he improvising something or is this just a random moment that made no sense?

Only taking essentials, my portables and some books. Just basically packed most of my game and anime stuff in boxes so they won't be covered in dust when I eventually return.

I'll still be around, in fact I'll probably have more time to bum around here since I suspect (hope, at least) I won't need to pull 80+ hour weeks anymore. Though since HK is so small and convenient I should probably use that time to not be lazy and socialise more!

Plus if you/jint end up working in Japan (or anyone else who might be in HK/Japan), I will totally come hang out since it's only a cheapish 3 hour flight away:D

Wow thanks Jase, really appreciate the advice! I don't think it's actually getting me down or anything, it's just when I was looking at, say, a large box full of GBA boxes I've kept in new condition, I just think why? lol But yeah, "growing up" definitely played a big part in my decision to make the move. It's a pretty big risk on my part, because I certainly could have just stayed in Sydney since I was a. well paid b. had the safety of working at a global institution (well not that safe since all banks are doing some serious headcount reduction now, but you know what I mean) c. friends & family and d. I prefer the Australian lifestyle/environment . But instead I thought, you know what, I'm still kinda young, why not take a punt, seize a rare opportunity and move to another country to work at a startup firm? It's only 4 dudes including me at the moment, I'm only getting paid enough to survive really, most HK people kinda suck, there's crazy pollution and I need to deal with the absurd property prices there. So, there's incredible downside risk (especially the startup part), but if things work out it could be the best life decision I'll ever make...though at this point there's definitely much more emphasis on the downside. But, I'm a semi-optimist so I'm focused more on the long term. If I do crash and burn, it will at least be a worthwhile learning experience.

Anyway, I've probably said too much, but whatevs I kinda needed to write that down. And look what you've done!!! I usually don't bother making proper coherent posts on the internet, so EFF U, Jase :)

When are you flying out deeky?
monday:OOOOOOO
