FUCKIN' STRAYA

Holy shit, the ADSL internet out here in the sticks 10km from town is twice as fast as my internet back in Warrnambool! Fuck you Telstra!

PS3 with 500GB HDD and 2 controllers for $299 at JB Hifi!

Aforementioned GMG sale. GRID for $4, DIRT 2 for $3, DIRT 3 for $7. Use GMG20-FDSCL-AQQXD

Also fuck spelling with a z. That shit is stupid. I like putting the u in colour though, seems more natural.

I'm not saying that at all. In my house the consoles are in the traditional 'comfy couch' setup and my PC is at a desk.

If I'm buying a game I think is a more action oriented game, I'm more likely to buy it for console. Not because it's for casual idiots, but because the setting is conducive to the type of game.

My point is that TWD might not be a sit back and relax, or be energized type game.

No need to fly off the handle.
Fez? Fez.

DriveThruRPG has an awesome TableTop Day Free Bundle. Some people here should jump right on it.

There is no need to pinch yourself, that is indeed full copies of Little Fears Nightmare Edition, Action Castle, and The Esoterrorists. That's a lot of RPG goodness right there.
Thanks! I have no idea what I signed up for but it was free!

I felt more emotionally invested in that game than I think anything I had played before. Different people, different opinions etc.
Same. The rest of the game is hot garbage aside from the cute artstyle. Telltale can't do gameplay to save their life. Without their writers and the guy who hit upon The Walking Dead artstyle they would be C-tier at best.

(Yeah yeah double post what you gonna do about it?)

All codes should work (i.e. I haven't redeemed them) so I apologize if they don't, for some unknown reason.

Here's the list:
Trine
Magika
Magika Vietnam
Home
Victoria II
Doc Clock: The Toasted Sandwich of Time
Darwinia
Multiwinia
Defcon
Uplink
Beat Hazard Ultra
Nightsky HD
Solar 2
Dungeon Defenders + All DLC
Darksiders
Metro 2033
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
Can I has pretty pretty please!?

For some strange reason, despite not being at all religious anymore, I still feel kind of obligated to not eat meat today. I think perhaps it's more tradition than anything else, given that our family used to be religious but aren't really at all anymore.

At least it's an excuse to grab a Filet o' Fish meal!
Oh shit, I totally cooked up a bunch of bacon on the BBQ for lunch with Dad while the wife was asleep. I bet make sure no one tells her!

:/

So I just realized I have a ridiculous amount of free-time between Friday and Sunday. So I decided to rent Metal Gear Rising Revengence from my local video store! $6 for at least 3 days. Fun times ahead.

TO MAKE CIDER.

After the apples are gathered from the trees they are ground into what is called pommage, either by means of a common pressing stone, with a circular trough, or by a cider mill, which is either driven by the hand, or by horse-power. When the pulp is thus reduced to a great degree of fineness, it is conveyed to the cider press, where it is formed by pressure into a kind of cake, which is called the cheese.

This is effected by placing clear, sweet straw, or hair cloths between the layers of pommage till there is a pile of 10 or 12 layers. This pile is then subjected to different degrees of pressure in succession, till all the must or juice is squeezed from the pommage. This juice, after being strained in a coarse hair-sieve, is then put either into open vats or close casks, and the pressed pulp is either thrown away or made to yield a weak liquor called washings.

After the liquor has undergone the proper fermentation in these close vessels, which may be best effected in a temperature of from 40° to 60°, and which may be known by its appearing tolerably clear, and having a vinous sharpness upon the tongue, any further fermentation must be stopped by racking off the pure part into open vessels exposed for a day or two in a cool situation. After this the liquor must again be put into casks and kept in a cool place during winter. The proper time for racking may always be known by the brightness of the liquor, the discharge of the fixed air, and the appearance of a thick crust formed of fragments of the reduced pulp. The liquor should always be racked off anew, as often as a hissing noise is heard, or as it extinguishes a candle held to the bung-hole.

When a favorable vinous fermentation has been obtained, nothing more is required than to fill up the vessels every 2 or 3 weeks, to supply the waste by fermentation. On the beginning of March the liquor will be bright and pure and fit for final racking, which should be done in fair weather. When the bottles are filled they should be set by uncorked till morning, when the corks must be driven in tightly, secured by wire or twine and melted rosin, or any similar substance.

hmmm

Cider making isn't that hard, but crushing apples to get suitable juice may be. Some orchards may sell juice ready to ferment.

From the moment you chuck in the yeast, the process is virtually identical to beer making. Most booze (beer, cider, wine, mead, etc) is the same from that point of view. It's just taking the fermentable sugars from something and having yeast convert (ferment) those into alcohol.

In fact, what you posted makes it sound harder than it is.

Milsims posted a picture with some sample sale prices here.

Definitely click on it, that comment from Sara just made me burst out laughing. Typical Milsims.

Yeah, fuck those cunts for trying to make a profit so they can stay in business!

Also, the margins on games retail are much smaller than you think.

Oh do tell, I'm fascinated to find out how much profit you think is made. :)

In other news I'm spending the long weekend moving into the man cave. I found two Game Boy Players, that was neat, and like twelve Game Boy Advances, that was weird.

20% off a 40% markup is still daylight robbery.

This 20% off actually makes Luigi's Mansion 2 cheaper than my UK import. It cuts OGS' Gears of War Judgement price by nearly $20 and Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm by $10 for another couple examples. Some things are still more expensive sure, but others are cheaper or comparable to imports or within close enough distance that someone that wanted the games sooner and would like to keep some money in the country might consider it.

But why would you bother actually looking at things when you can just call it all shit. Actually checking things out is for pussies.

Most commonly 15-25% if the game is sold at the RRP. That's not factoring in any negotiated deals that I wouldn't be aware of as nothing more than a department manager.

Since JB rarely sells a game at that price, the margin may be much less and can often be in the single digit dollar value per game sold, particularly on new release titles. More and more of this info became shielded (by intentionally false data being entered) from general staff as my time working for them went on.

I'd normally agree but this wasn't Harvey Norman or EB. JB is one of the few local places I buy games from when I'm not importing.

anyhoo, did Rlan ever elaborate on whatever shit that may or may not have gone down at Sega?

Going to a board game day tomorrow which was just a coincidence that it is going to be International TableTop Day. Hoping to try out some new games.

Gravity Rush - done. Man, what a weird game. So strong in some senses and so completely meh in others. That story felt entirely like "And then this happened! And then this happened! And then some other thing happened!"

Blah.

Just played Metal Gear Rising : Revengence for around 3-hours or so. This game is absolutely amazing.. holy shit. It's far-better designed than the demo lead me to believe too, the camera is still awful though. Can't wait to play more later tonight.

Yeah, Revengeance only becomes problematic - like, really problematic - on Very Hard and above, and even then it's still pretty brilliant.

I'm actually dissapointed in both shanshan and cods.

the others, they have their excuses.

Hey, Hey, I actually typed socialise but my dumb phone keyboard changed it automatically.

I'm actually planning on doing a lot of work over the easter break. I sort of have two assignments from a another training course that I'm doing in addition to uni due.. and I sort of fell behind on my ecology reading, also gotta work on my presentation for that too.. (because it's due in two weeks).

Yeah - Uni has been a blast, I was feeling kind of lonely in the first week of study since I was barely running into any of the people I met during o'week because we all study different courses, but in this past week it's almost been impossible to walk around the campus without running into someone who actually wants to talk to me lol.. and I have some awesome groups going on in my classes, starting to get involved in this club I joined etc. Plus people I met appear to compliment me for my self-confidence since everyone thinks I act like a second-year student lol.

Last nights party was kind of exhausting though. Really didn't enjoy it as much as the previous parties I had before. I think I'm already getting fatigued by this uni party thing.:p doesn't help that I had to pay $45 for a taxi fare last night, next time I'm going in with a group of friends instead of going by myself and waiting for the friends I know who are going to the party lool. Also the male-to-female ratio was fucked at this party, not enough hot girls to flirt with! should have gone to the nursing party they had going the week before #FML.

Sounds like fun :D

Also next time that male-to-female ratio gets uneven you have to sing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Wl_uQOABxg

but ever so delicious
Guys, I heard that people who dance as their profession got paid to dance at a party.

What's going on with the world? That clearly sounds bad to me.

There's a huge difference in context between a developer party hosted by a private individual open to the public and an IGDA-supported party that claims to represent the dominant values of an industry

As a well-known figure and thus someone some see as a role model he should probably know better.

But hey, it's his money and his party, so whatever I guess.

Fuck, need to get this game.

When I read someone's review or interpretation or whatever and they said (don't think it's a spoiler, but will spoiler anyway)
that the guy you play isn't the main character in the story, the woman is
, that fucking had me. I've been waiting to play a game with that sort of concept for fucking AGES. At least, something with a strong story (vs. a game where it's largely irrelevant, or it's just an excuse to have a certain kind of gameplay mechanic).

First game since Sleeping Dogs that I'll probably be buying at a high price.

Does anyone have a rough idea of how long the story is, sans exploration etc.? I don't want it to be massive, so I hope I don't get an answer of 40+ hours or something ridiculous.

I just finished it on hard and it took about 12-15 hours I guess, Steam hours are wrong because I tend to leave shit running sometimes and go afk.

But. Onto the game....

holy shit that ending

Replayability?

Not that I care, because 10 hours on normal is perfect... at least it means I'd get to see a whole fucking game from start to finish.

And DLC (in particular, pre-order bonuses or whatever the LE was sold with or whatever)... do I need to worry about getting that if it's an extra fiver or so?
