You can print stuff at places like OfficeWorks, BigW, KMart, etc

Also most newsagents have print and copy facilities.

Ended up going to Officeworks, it was 10c a side in b&w. Worked out good because Officeworks is right across the road from the shopping centre NZ Natural was in. Lady said I'd get a call on the weekend if anything happens. I really need a job. :(

My PC parts arrived today.

BEmAVLBh.jpg
The parts
670 GTX, i5 3750, 8GB DDR3. Plus an SSD and a new monitor and a buncha other bullshit. The iron is not a component I am going to install today, maybe later if the CPU runs too cool with its stock heatsink.

The installation

It might look messy but compared to my current PC it looks amazing. I made liberal use of the back area to hide as much cabling as I could. Although the PSU's 8 pin connectors for the GPU were really quite hard to do anything with. Had to spend a while making sure the case isn't pushing those cables in an awkward way damaging the gpu. I probably could have looped the CPU power from above, in retrospect.

The BIOS

Man, motherboard bios sure have changed. It had cursor support and clickable graphics and everything. Was actually surprised in myself that this PC booted first time with absolutely zero issues. My main worry was just getting the front case cables correct because those things are confusing.

The aftermath

So many plastic bags
So much stickytape
So much cleaning :(

Shame on me for thinking Australia was a little more progressive than that, and the fact Gillard...an atheist is against it and won't explain why is astounding. The homophobia that is still prevalent in this day and age is amazing.

I was thinking about pre-ordering Fire Emblem since I liked all the previous games but then I realized I never actually finished any of them.

Never put any trust in an internet poll, they skew a long way to the right. Ninemsn, yahoo, SMH etc... all skew this way, always have always will.

The reason the PM is against Gay marriage goes back to how she got the Job. She was put in place buy the right wing of Victorian and South Australian parties, along with the AWU (Paul Howes an enormous wanker) and the Shoppies Union (Joe De Bruin a super ultra social conservative). All these people and groups are hold outs of the Old DLP, a party/ideal the Abbott subscribes to as well interestingly.

These people have the PM by the "balls" when it comes to any social policy and she knows they will kick her out the second she comes out for marriage equality. The Australian Christian Lobby has also infected the Labor party due to the DLP roots and they have so much influence any religious organisation taking government money is still able to openly discriminate against LGBT employees and even unmarried people living in sin!

The fact that the right wing Krudd is largely supported by the left wing of the party and the left wing PM by the right of the party shows just how fucked up the situation has become. The sooner the entire right wing of the party is fired into the sun the better.

And this comes from a rusted on yet very disappointed Labor man. :(

Some thoughts about Windows and software:

It was really, really easy to copy all my settings from old firefox to my current firefox. All my userscripts, bookmarks and addons work, and it's like I'm not even on a different computer as far as the browser's concerned.

A lot of other programs have also been extremely nice in letting me just copy my %appdata% folder and duplicate everything. ... someone should make %appdata% sync to the cloud. That'd be rad.

iTunes is still hot garbage. It's a good thing I stopped caring about music, and podcasts are easily redownloadable. But for fuck's sake apple, stop forcing me to delete every fucking podcast / picture / whatever on my phone whenever I want to sync them. Just, copy stuff from computer to iphone. Don't delete stuff. Seriously, fuck you apple.

Do andriod phones have good podcast software? Something that resumes playing from where you left off between devices? Because that is seriously the only good thing about iTunes. I can listen to a podcast on the bus, get home, sync to my pc, and keep listening at the timestamp I paused previously.

It's still really annoying to copy across steam games. Some games copy fine, others don't. Sometimes you copy a 5GB over, click on steam to initialise it, and it just downloads the entire game and deletes your copy for no reason. And if you want to do a proper software backup via steam you can't have it do it in the background while you use the rest of the application.

Windows now starts up faster than the animation can play.

So, all in all, it's been a long day of hardware jigsaw and data managing and software installation and setting up stuff. But I now feel like this new computer is 'my' computer. And I'm never quite happy with reinstalling OSs or getting new hardware when the result doesn't feel like it's the computer I've used every day for the past half decade.

y'all

Puts it more into perspective, thanks. So much for separation of church and state...who am I kidding.

Another example of a racist fuck, passengers backed up the victims thankfully

A woman who is allegedly an employee of Victoria's Department of Justice has been filmed hurling racist abuse at a woman of Asian origin on a Melbourne train.

The 53-year-old chemical engineer, who does not want her identity revealed, boarded a busy Pakenham-line train with her 20-year-old daughter around 6.45pm Tuesday from Melbourne Central station.

She told ninemsn that after sitting down in one of few available seats she noticed a free seat opposite her between a female passenger and her young son, which was covered with books and bags.

The Philippines national said she asked the passenger to free up the seat for her daughter but the seemingly innocuous request instead sparked an outburst of racial abuse.

When the woman noticed that she was being filmed by her victim the confrontation became physical as she attempted to prise the phone from the chemical engineer's hands.
"She tried to take the phone off her and wrestled with her," Ms Daglish said.
"She threatened to smash her phone and smash her. "
Ms Daglish said at that point a male passenger put a hand on her shoulder and made her sit back down.

She said other passengers told the belligerent woman that she had said enough and to stop but the abuse continued for about 20 minutes, even after the Filipino woman had got off the train.

Ms Daglish said she was so disgusted she gave the abused woman her phone number and offered to act as her witness.

The Filipino woman praised the actions of fellow commuters.
"Almost everybody around me defended me," she said.
Ms Daglish added that during her rant the abusive woman identified herself as an employee of Victoria's Department of Justice.

It swings from wildly funny to wildly unfunny. I think you'd probably enjoy their dubstep skit.

Edit: wtf iOS autocorrect kept trying to put the word dubstep into all capital letters.

Oh, I've seen their dubstep skit. I did think it was quite hilarious! But I also stumbled across the puppy Ice T skit, which I think fits in the latter category you mentioned. Might give it a miss then.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.

It's not really astounding. We have no political culture that values competitiveness and listening to the public. It's either Labor or Liberal, and all one has to do is weasel the public enough to beat the other. There's no incentive to promote strong policies or move the country and society forward. They're all spineless and would rather play it safe, because that's the surest way they'll get elected.

I really think our country would benefit from a registered vote of no confidence during elections, like how board votes work. Anything that acknowledges a portion of the population being sick and tired of this droll political bullshit the necessity for change and movement.

evlcookie

but ever so delicious
Telstra cable is fucking garbage in my area, dies at night and there's no real mention of the issue by them. Which is really the most frustrating part about it, always a lack of communication.

Just noticed a yellow discolouration on the bottom left hand corner of my Nexus 7 screen tonight. It's also been heating up a lot more than I recall in that same area.

The first one I had was replaced after a couple of days because the screen was loose, and when they swapped it they didn't note the new serial (but did handwrite on the receipt that it was swapped, without any more information), and said it'd be fine when I asked if that would be enough. Wasn't a problem I guess since I had the new one and the box.

Fast forward to now, and I reckon I'm going to have a fight on my hands at JB. I have no box (who keeps a box for eight months?) and the serial on the receipt isn't the same as the one on the unit. I'm going to take off the sticker with the serial, since that's the only place it seems to be on the outside. Maybe it's my turn to be escorted from an electronics store?

Or maybe I'm lucky and the problem will go away... Don't want to send it back as I'm going overseas in <6 weeks and need to take it with me. The warranty will run out before I return.

That looks awesome. The trailer that is, not the stupid chart where we get it last.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it could be a bit of fun. I was thinking it has a very Matrix vibe to it, mixed with a healthy dose of Men in Black and hint of the old west. Big stupid fun.

Seriously, what the fuck is going on with this country as far as release dates go?

Another shining example.

All this whinging about Foxtel getting first access to BBC programming gets to me. It's just another example of how we think we are so entitled to get everything for free or cheap.

Not trying to start anything, but if you really want to watch these shows, pay for them.

Pay?? For advertisement T.V? Are you serious?

^^ These guys know their shit. I couldn't have explained it any better. Australia's political system is FUBAR, and the 2 party system is having a lot to do with why.
