your cat is adorbs

spent the night drinking. some parents thought it was a good idea to bring a 3-4 year old to a drunken uni student bash. To be fair, it was. Spent the night entertaining her in shifts. First thing she did with the toy lawnmower was to try and chop everybody up on the basis they were zombies.

HolyCheck

I want a tag give me a tag
she pooped in the kitty litter tray :) yayayyayay

she didnt eat much still, but in time, ive put food in a few different bowls just to see which bowl she likes the most same with water

Oh and Sleeping Dogs steamkey for $12 from a UK retailer
XCOM is also $19!

Fruit Ninja Kinect is pretty good! Gives a shadow in the background so you can see where you are and judge your swipes from that.

Kinect is fucking awful to setup as always. Might be okay as a single male aged 18-35 but when I want to let the little guy have a go while still helping him it is a clusterfuck due to the height changes required of the Kinect, even in a fairly big space (6-8 feet from the Kinect).

Which also meant that they pulled out the discs of every product, put them behind the counter and made every transaction at least 5 minutes long as they search for what you want to buy. Huzzah!

Everytime I go in there every CD is $30+, Blu Rays are $35+ and they never have anything I want anyway. The CD "selection" is piss poor, at least down here in Victoria. Haven't been much more than a DVD store for the past 7+ years, as I am sure Shaneus/Laf can attest to.

There's literally no point in Sanity even existing anymore. Anything they sell can easily be bought (from what I can tell) at any K-Mart or Big W. I'm pretty sure that wasn't always the case, but the last time I remember going into one (must've been REALLY bored) they didn't have any specialist sections (ie. dance, which they used to do really well) that were worth writing home about.

I'm surprised they're still operating, to be honest. At all.

i can't fathom how exhausting the little guy must be reptile, i honestly can't

The short attention span is the most draining. Can't sit him down in front of the TV for more than 5 minutes before he is up and running around again.

As you have the child from birth it just becomes routine. A good helper is getting yourself to bed by 10pm so that when he inevitably wakes up before your alarm you don't feel like a truck has hit you.

I have no fucking idea how single parents do it. I would have had a breakdown by now.

cute cat.

Here's some stuff we've learned about our cat

-dry food has a lot of carbs and will make a housebound cat put on a lot of weight quickly
cats need protein more so small portions raw uncooked meat is good. also they won't need much/ if any water if they don't eat kibble.

-cats need to much on grass to help with digestion and furballs. Ours loves paspalum which is a weed we find growing around our house but catnip has no effect on him.

-cats preen a lot so all that hair ends up in their stomach so giving them a good brush regularly is handy.

-a bell on the collar is handy to avoid stepping on them when they get under your feet.

-grapes- bad, onions- bad, chocolate- bad . Lillies= death

-get your cat used to you trimming its nails ASAP. It's difficult to do it when they are older and more confident.

- you'll eventually work out when your cat is about to swipe you by the tone of it's meows

cat bow ties are adorable. there's a woman on etsy who sells them
http://www.etsy.com/shop/snoopcattycatt

best tip is to use a word before you feed your cat. We use 'om nom nom' and it gets the cat to stop whatever it is doing and come running so it's handy if he tries to get out of the house.

Is your cat deaf, though?

Can't help but think these two could be related

Also we may or may not be getting a cat for Christmas. Interesting to see how it goes. Vets are expensive yo!

It's a video game forum. This is a bit like complaining that somewhere like Comic Vine or CBR won't let you vote for a novel in their end-of-year awards.

Actually, my real gripe is that the PnP Roleplaying thread was originally permitted on the Gaming side and was much later moved to Off-Topic, my post was just an extension of that. It's not hard to guess the location where that thread garnered the most interest from gamers.

Also, that analogy is absurd, but not a point I'm really interested in discussing anyway.

Unfortunately, according to GAF, pen and paper roleplaying games don't count as a game.
Gaf is silly.
My friends and I are doing Christmas DnD tomorrow, I'm very excited.
Yeeeaaaaah, one of my packages got Arrival Scanned at Botany.

The other is still in transit from Shanghai, having started at Stansted and dropped in on Paris and New Delhi along the way.
At least the package will be covered in cool stamps by the time it arrives!
:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
If you scroll through those pictures it looks like a video.
I have a feeling you have the same morbid interest in Murdoch letters to the editor that I do, it's only reason I buy the - not necessarily evil but endearingly imcompetant - Hobart Mercury.
Only reason I still read the Australian. Although most of this week's letters have revolved around how awful and left wing the ABC is, which started off as amusing but is now reaching the point of ridiculousness.

Indeed.

Have fun with D&D, it'll be fun no doubt. My group is breaking for a month since people are taking holidays and whatnot.

Look for an AusGAF Role Playing announcement sometime in the new year. I thought I'd wait until then to give GMing a go since this time of year is notoriously unpredictable and inconvenient. What I have in mind is not D&D or even close to it, but I think those that join in should like what is on offer.

The Australian has a pathetic persecution/bias complex. Its a real indulgence of theirs, and makes them sound as grounded in reality as young liberals at uni. They've obviously thrown their hat into the ring, so they may as well admit it.

It's also funny/depressing listening to people who like to assert their own intelligence parroting exactly the same editorial line the Australian takes.

ooh that sounds exciting! I look forward to it!

What's even more amusing is the quality of articles in commentary that have been written by Australian Journalists. Often they trail off into completely different topics and make no attempt to back up their points with any kind of reasoning (for example, in a recent article by janet albrechtsen about how smh feminists were whiny complainers she started rambling about labor's education reforms. Quality journalism right there. I really despise that woman).
I don't know if I didn't notice it as much before or what, but it really seems like the Australian has fallen off the deep end. They seem to be unable to print anything that isn't "everything that isn't as right wing as we are stinks!". Of course, they'll always print one left wing letter in there to make it look 'fair', which imo is even funnier.

Last time I read it was back in 2008, and they were already in the deep end of an ocean trench then. I can't imagine they have turned things around with Labor's re-election and carbon tax.

I always assumed they were just Fox News standard with good grammar skills.

There were tons of gameplay bugs in Xcom aswell and didn't Ubi abandon the worst parts of their DRM?

Gameplay bugs from the perspective of enemies noticing you when they really shouldn't have etc? Didn't feel that those impacted my games over me being completely impatient. :p The camera really annoyed me the most in that game, especially in onw of the space ships. Constantly had the fucking roof in the way.

As for Ubi, the worst parts maybe, but they still had issues.

The only games on that list Ive played. All of them Ive only had a go of the demo, except Tokyo Jungle which I bought on sale and havent yet gotten to play.

Gameplay bugs as in

injured slodiers not recovering
dead soldiers being able to go on missions
Shiv being unable to be taken on mission
shiv weapon not being able to be fired
squad member getting doubled on some missions

i think i'm forgetting a couple more that happened to me aswell

I only ran into a few bugs. Final mission deployed once with no soldiers, that was pretty good. Bunch of clipping crap. Everything else was a-ok.

Sounds like a game I should leave at the demo.

Actually, those disclaimers they have in game demos about being "non representative of the final product and may contain bugs" etc are pretty much redundant now most games are riddled with them.

I only played the tutorial for Tokyo Jungle but it is FUCKING BATSHIT COOL MAN

I totally fucking mauled a chimp! And then boned another dog and then a bunch of puppies popped out of nowhere!

Love the artstyle too. I am a bit shocked they haven't done more level DLC for it, just animal DLC.

I ran into a few bugs with xcom.

Terrible boring missions, stupid 'count the enemies' intros whenever you saw a new group of enemies. Dumbed down combat. Character design from the bland and boring dimension. Stupid needless characters who made me want to kurmudgeon my moniter.

Did they do any QA?

I'm currently looking to buy some blank playing cards -- ie; poker cards that are blank on one side so I can write stuff on them.

I can get them online, but are there any places in Brisbane that I could go buy them today? Any ideas?

You're welcome.
