Pretty much. Anyone who is bringing that shit to AGDQ has malicious intentions to begin with. I mean what's the point? You know you'll get a reaction and it's basically to troll. Fuck off with that shit.
Yes, part of the problem with the guy that got banned is that he made a mass shooting "joke" last year/the year before (can't remember which) after his run. He's been a problem for a long time and they've been fairly lenient on him.
Also the reason why a runner could potentially get banned for it even if they don't wear it is because the runners clear everything the couch guests bring (or else they can't bring it).

As someone knows very little about Speedrunning personalities (Outside of the three or four I follow on Twitch) I find the annual AGDQ drama to be wildly baffling yet entertaining. So many egos and childish antics involved!
Anyways, I really enjoyed the OoT 3D Run. I'm learning a similar category for N64 (Medallions / Stones / Trials) and it was great seeing the differences between the two games, plus the commentary was entertaining yet informative. I haven't been paying as much attention to Borderlands but it seems cool too. Really excited for MGS2 tonight.
If anyone could add Mik2pick to the Gaf chat that would be cool too. Not bothering with the main channel's chat haha. Thanks!

This is actually a pretty cool run. Fun commentary too. Can really tell these guys enjoy this.
Also definitely remember watching Broman run this game a few years ago and it was definitely a lot messier than this lol. Having to use like a super outdated version of the game for specific glitches and it would sometimes crash and yeah.

I think the thing you gotta understand is that, unsurprisingly, the speedrun community has some rather questionable people, just like any large (particularly gaming) community. Moreover, GDQs have a sort of reputation as a speedrunning olympics, so everyone wants to be a part of it. The combination means you get a lot of dumb people doing dumb things at GDQs.

But this guy... you dont have to be super charismatic but hes not selling me on his run and the audience are not really into it either. Not easy to follow three really good runs though.

Acting like a ban came out of nowhere and was completely unjustified when you're told from the beginning that you're on zero tolerance is so disingenuous. Not surprised considering who it came from.
