Batman Arkham City |OT| Smashin' Faces, Glidin' Places

I nearly had rage moment last night when I fought Joker and his goons. FFS, I know Joker is not the one known for fairness but the gangbang was a bit too much. Especially when a Titan joined in on the fun. Also, the part where you have to use remote batarang to get electricity then throw it back to open a panel was ridiculous.

These campaign challenges are grinding my gears.

Gotta add tedium in there somehow, right game devs?
There is no doubt they pad where they can to make this game longer. It's rather irritating for someone who doesn't enjoy such things. I feel like I'm revisiting locations on a regular basis.

So all I have left is 9 campaign challenges, and the last two predator challenges. I am not looking forward to this at all :(

The predator challenges shouldn't be too hard, but the campaign ones where you have limited retries is going to suck balls.

I finished the campaign two days ago, and have been spending time doing side missions and exploring. Such an awesome game. I keep thinking back to the thing that plays during the credits, what a wonderful addition and treat to longtime Batman fans.

has anyone got a site that has all the concept art you can unlock in high res? specifically the Gotham City ones. Some of these would be awesome wallpapers. The official site isn't much help as their images are relatively small.

Just finished it.

AA was a better game to me. I guess the city really wasn't as cool as the Asylum, and it lacked the overall scary vibe of the first. Story was a little better presented, and I dug Hugo Strange. His voice was super creepy.

What exactly did you mean by "campaign challenges"? Do you mean side quest stuff?
The riddler challenges that has you do 3-maps back to back to back.

They're called campaign challenges, no?

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.

They're only mandatory if you're a slave to 100% completion. Like me.

Which is your choice, of course. Dont blame the devs for that. It was like that in AA too.

Well ok TKJ is decent but I think its a really weak Alan Moore story. He does far better with his Superman stuff (also people who have read his Batman Annual were probably pretty delighted with the Clayface reference in AA)

I stand by my other comments lol

I'm not sure how I passed a few of those Advanced AR missions. I seriously got lucky on that first advanced mission...holy hell.

Feels good.

My only complaint is at first when you complete some of the missions, the % complete from the main story line is a very small percentage. Then all of the sudden, doing one story mission jumps you up 15%, which kinda sucks :( I want more Batman!

Beat Top of the World Extreme. Yay team.

Also got the Perfect Freeflow 2.0 which was a pain remembering all the stupid moves.

What moves do you need to do?

Batclaw clothesline
Explosive gel
REC
Freeze
Batarang
Takedown
Cape stun
Vault over

Is that it? I hope you don't have to do all those and the bat-swarm and the weapon break and the multi-batarang knockout.

Finished the story with about 50% side missions done. Its went for trade in to get bf3 now though, loved every minute of it and plan to rebuy when its cheap so i can finish off the side stuff. GOTY for me at the moment, if you like batman even just a bit then this game is for you.

No it's his combat moves only, you don't need any of the 5 quick-gadgets. I did it and I think it was

Strike
Counter
Cape Stun
Vault over enemy
Aerial Strike ( O X X as PS3)
Ultra Cape stun
Batclaw takedown
Ground takedown (jump and punch dude on ground)
And then all 4 combo moves that require the multi-button press

I beat all of the combat challenge rooms very quickly. Had a great time with them too. Haven't done the predator challenge rooms yet.

I tried a campaign challenge. I didn't turn on any of the negative additions, because I figured there was no point. Beat the first 2 parts pretty easy. On the 3rd part all 3 negative attributes went on. Took one bullet to kill me.

Haha, fuck. I just did it earlier, doing all of the quick gadgets, all the combat moves, and all of the 4 takedowns. Atleast it made an awesome looking combo.

I hope I can pull off that ultimate combo. What's the best room to do it in?
I think I did mine in Survival of the Fittest. And it's Round 3 or 4, as they have the most enemies. That one was a really good map, because I don't think it had any advanced stuff like armor, stun rods, etc. I think the most it had was a sledgehammer weapon and dudes that pick up boxes.

Also, starting up New Game +, and I didn't realize all the riddles and stuff stay solved. I knew you started with all your gadgets and upgrades, but I thought you had to redo all the Riddler stuff. It'll be nice to have a harder yet more focused playthrough.

Got stuck on the first
titan
fight on New Game+ last night. Guys throwing boxes are seriously infuriating with an unforgiving camera and no counter prompt. Also, when you're surrounded by a sea of dudes, it's hard to pick out the one that's going to throw a short jab at the back of your head.

Got past it eventually, though it was touch and go for a while.

Alright, I'll take your advice. Hopefully I don't have too much trouble.

The music is really damn good in this game.

The killing joke is not overrated.
Eh, Alan Moore himself has said that there's a lot he doesn't like about it.

The very end of it with Joker and Batman chatting before the cops show up is brilliant, of course, as is the origination of the idea that the Joker doesn't necessarily even know who he used to be, but the "one bad day" stuff is kinda weak and the over-the-top nastiness and sexual molestation stuff seems like puerile shock value for its own sake.

There are wonderful things about The Killing Joke, but it's more like wonderful pages and panels instead of the whole thing being great.

Finished it last night. Story was kind of meh. I liked the ending though. It didn't really feel like the story really went anywhere until the end.

I don't like the open world. I liked the slightly open linear feel of the first game. There weren't really any areas in AC that stood out. The city just didn't feel all that exciting. Cool idea, just a bit bland. It was fun listening in on conversations from the thugs on the street.

Boss fights were ok, but nothing special. Combat is still fun. Gadgets are cool. There are lots of ways to tackle a room full of bad guys. Voice acting and graphics are top notch. Cat Woman segments were lame. I would have rather just played as Batman more.

I agree with this assessment.

I still think it's a great story. And Alan Moore doesn't seem to like any of his work that he didn't create. And he's fucking crazy. And he seems to have rape in every one of his stories. I have no idea why.

Just bought an OC'd GTX 560TI in large part b/c it comes with this game's coupon for the PC version. Turns out the game is awesome so good deal. Love me some batporn.

I find that to be the worst part of it, by far. I appreciate the sentiment that was trying to be conveyed there, but Batman sharing a merry laugh with Joker following the heinous shit he did in that story was artificial and ridiculous.

Maybe it could have worked if the joke was actually funny.

The whole point is that it's not very funny at all and that they're both pretty much miserable and doomed people and they both know it. The meta-joke is that Joker's alluding to the fact that he and Batman are both different kinds of crazy people, and it's his way of helplessly telling Batman that he will never, ever get better (after Batman tries to persuade him to actually seek help and fix himself).

I'm cleaning up the remaining Riddler stuff now and using the batclaw to pull guys into objects hasn't gotten old yet. It's one of the little things the game allows you to do without ever telling you it's possible.

There's a lot of hand holding for the majority of the game (do I really need to be told every time I land on something that holding X allows me to glide?), but they throw just enough in there that advanced players can feel like they're pulling shit off that the average person might miss.

Not sure if this was brought up in this thread yet. Last night when playing I heard an inmate say something like "it's cold enough I would drink my own pee if I thought it would warm me up". Bear Grylls reference?

This is probably a silly question, but has there been any confirmation that Catwoman is in the Steam version? The screenshots in the store didn't show her, if I recall correctly. I'd just been waiting to preorder in case any silly DLC etc. issues came up.

I see many people complaining about Bat-Swarm. At first it seems like a useless move, maybe it is, but since I use it I can do a lot of points in challenge rooms. I really don't know what is the advantage on using this move, and I would like that it would create a fear mode in enemies, but the fact is, I do more points when I use it, hehehe.

My complaint is with the goround takedown. I wish it has an option to cancel it into a counter. The grounded enemy doesn "die" but I don't get a free punch. I know risk is part of the excitment... but come on.. is Batman!!!

6 question marks, 3 on top of 3, all covered off from eachother. How do you get all 6 in time?
Put explosive gel on the bottom three, but don't trigger it yet. Grapnel up to the roof of the building across the alley so that you have a clear shot at all three targets on top. Hit them all with your Batarang quickfire, then trigger the explosive gel.

I laughed.

There should be a wooden platform (a raft of sorts) nearby. Batclaw it, get on top of it and batclaw to wherever you want to.
