Oh my god, BvS made slightly more than Age of Ultron on opening day.

You people are crazy. Your money could've been used on another movie.

Whatever, it's your money. I'm limiting myself to only a few this year, such as Deadpool, Zootopia, Civil War, Apocalypse, Finding Dory, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Listening to Angry Joe's impressions and I would have to agree with how he put it...

"The movie is all ejaculation with no foreplay"

It's a day after and I'm still thinking about everything in the movie There are amazing things happening, but then tons of things where you will be scratching you head as a fan. Thinking, "why the fuck are they doing this now?"

Parts are great, some parts are pretty bad. I thought it was just alright.

And I liked Man of Steel.

If BvS ends up making $1bil, then Snyder is the director we deserve. We are still supporting BvS even through the terribad reviews lol.

So people shouldn't form their own opinions, and instead only watch films that get good reviews?

A $1bn would have been the lowest level execs would be happy with. The last 2 batman films both made over a billion and the last one was 4 years ago.

*gulp* Well, this is definitely now relegated to matinee status.

The Michael Bay of comic book movies.

There really is no difference between the two. They both love destroying shit. They don't know anything else.

It seems to me that Bay realises his movies are shallow popcorn flicks but he doesn't care because he's all about the money and big explosions and doesn't care about critics. Snyder on the other hand seems to think his stories are deeper and more profound than they actually are.

That aunt May scene made me cry. :'(

My brain was assaulted.

Ok, I am now convinced I will somewhat enjoy this movie because there is no way my expectations can be any lower, after reading through this thread.

For fun, I would like for you guys to gauge how I will find the movie, knowing my general sentiment on the following movies:

-Sucker Punch: one of the worst movies I have ever seen
-Man of Steel: okay
-Iron Man 1: good
-Iron Man 3: fantastic, possibly the best MCU film
-Thor 2: bad
-Avengers 1: okay
-Avengers 2: mediocre
-Amazing Spider-Man 2: good, and better than Raimi's SP1 and 3

I know opinions and what not

But what the fuck did I just read ?

did you just say iron man 3 was the MCU movie?

You're right. Snyder is really lacking in self-awareness.

sad thing is, as garbo as Bay can be, he'd probably nail a superman movie.

I wouldn't trust him within 100 yards of a batman film though.

He's not a good director. Snyder focuses on the action of a scene rather than the characters/actors and it definitely shows with the amount of emptiness.

And now, you will fly to him, and you will battle him to the bitter end. Black and blue. Fight night. The greatest gladiator match in the history of the Fandom. Fan versus Director. Good versus Evil! Comic Book Fan versus Destroyer of DCCU!

He's self aware. His response to his haters is, "I make movies for teenage boys. Oh dear, what a crime."

yeah but ironman 3 was bad. Even batman vs superman is a better movie than ironman 3

I remember a coworker try to sell Thor 1 as the best phase 1 MCU movie before avengers came out

I really liked Thor, and I'd definitely put it up there with the better Marvel pics. For my money although none of the MCU movies are total garbage, about half are disposable entries with only a few notable elements. Their strike-rate is nowhere near perfect, and frankly I like MoS a lot more than quite a few of them.

Opinions and all that, but when I watched Iron Man 3 I never thought that the guy in the Iron Man suit wasn't Iron Man (the Mandarin, however...), but after watching Batman v Superman, I'm still waiting for Batman vs Superman, because those bozos on screen weren't like any rendition of the character I ever grew up reading about, outside of Elseworld tales where they were complete psychopaths and often even villains.

Wow your tastes are all over the place. Mine fall in line more closely with consensus.

B]-Man of Steel:[/B] A bad mess.
-Iron Man 1: good and fun! (some issues with third act)
-Iron Man 3: not terrible, but has issues and disappointing
-Thor 2: meh, not terrible
-Avengers 1: good and fun! (but less rewatchable)
-Avengers 2: not terrible, but has issues and disappointing
-Amazing Spider-Man 2: better than AS1, but still Bad.

My biggest surprise in your list is AS2. I think it was bad, not good. Also, thinking IM3 is the best Marvel movie. wow.

Because you hate AS2 and MoS less than I do, you probably have a higher than average chance you might enjoy the movie. In other words your taste is not terrible, but not great so you might enjoy it. :P

I don't know if Angry Joe knows why he likes Superman.

He doesn't seem all that thoughtful, really.

He kinda reminds me of Snyder at times, actually.

I've only watched like 4 or 5 of his videos, though. Maybe he's remarkably more insightful and articulate in many of the others.

I think Thor 1 gets more shit than it deserves. It wasn't a great movie or anything, but I thought it was comparable to most of what we had been getting out of the MCU at that point (other than Iron Man 1 which was the only pre-Avengers film that I would say was good without caveats).

Thor 2 was my least favourite MCU film to date though, and the only one I regret spending money to see on the the big screen.

Oh I agree as I feel Marvel makes serviceable movies as none of them reach the badness of say...wolverine origins. I just felt he couldn't make a objective opinion on it cause he as big as a shill as you can get for marvel movies especially when his favorite character is Thor.

He's really articulate in terms of gaming reviews.

Movies - especially superhero ones - are his achilles heel in terms of trying to show his point.

Ok, so here I go.

Nonetheless not even this part of the movie, which is markedly the better, is devoid of problems. The first of which is Lex Luthor.

As I noticed I haven't read many comic books, but I've always been under the impression that Lex is a calculating villain, a rational man whose motivations, while not valid, are almost always comprehensible. In other words I've always found him, especially in the animated series incarnation, to be somewhat relatable. In this movie he is a fool, a schizophrenic, egocentric, megalomaniac individual who's incapable of coherently phrasing the reason he wants to kill Superman. The spectator has to go the extra mile to understand why he would do that and honestly I am still not convinced that I get it. Really, whatever Lex does in the movie can't be easily justified without appealing to his insanity.

.

I don't get why people are shitting on Lexlandis for his characterisation of Luthor yet praise D'onofrio for his Kingpin. They made the Kingpin a manchild which I found different but not totally out of character but I found his motivations bullshit and his reasons for why he thought he was the good guy laughable. "I'm gonna clean up this city by running drugs and arms, kicking people out of their homes and people trafficking, but I guess I am a good guy cos.. reasons". Fuck off. I ain't seen BVS so I need to form my own opinion on Lex but still.

i feel so bad for the dude right now. he was a legitimately great batman in a shitawful movie. i really hope WB and DC give him a chance at a standalone bat flick. he'd work wonders i think.

Thor 1 and 2 get unfairly hated on.
They are around 60 and 70% on RT as reference, which seems appropriate to me.

Meh. I enjoyed Kingpin. They made him a sympathetic character. I find myself rooting for him to win over the other baddies. He never thought he was "the good guy", just that he was a necessary evil. To be fair, you can develop characters much more thoroughly in a show.

Spoilers for DD i guess.

Just saw it. A few thoughts:

The first hour of the movie is poorly edited, just a bunch of scenes thrown together without much rhyme or reason.

This is very much a Batman movie. I am all about Batman, and Affleck kills it in the role, but if I was a Superman fan I would not have enjoyed it.

Eisenberg was miscast. He is hands down the worst part of the movie. A whiny, spoiled brat throughout.

Lastly, this movie isn't as bad as the critics are saying. Even after all the negatives I have, it was an entertaining ride, and a great intro to the Batman and Wonderwoman characters. The action scenes (The batmobile and batman warehouse scene from the trailer in particular) are top notch.
