Batman v Superman Ultimate Cut |OT| - Men are still good (out now)

Based on the descriptions in the last thread, the longer cut seems inconsequential.
Jimmy Olsen introduces himself by name and Superman gives Batman an extra push in the fight
- riveting.

From what I've heard all you see is more of the 'how' of Luthor's plan. Otherwise it all sounds like shit that was rightfully snipped from a slog of a film. 30 minutes of footage made me think it would be entire scenes, when a lot of it seems to be the trimmings of scenes already in the film.

So this popped up because of Tmobile

Spoilers Review from Collider. They say it's much better than the TC, it gives the movie some needed breathing time and the flow is better (well in the TC it was non-existent to me due to the heavy hard cuts between scenes).
Also there are some stuff that get's more sense now (i.e. Africa scene) and additional or actual Character moments you missed and wanted (i.e.Clark investigating about Batman and oh smiling).
Their rating for TC were 6.5 - 7.5 /10 and now it's 7.5 - 8.5/10.

I'm actually excited since they mostly share my opinion and I didn't think it would turn out this good.

I'll get around to seeing this eventually. But I don't feel like giving it the money as the TC was pretty terrible all 'round with the characters and story.

Is the correct answer 'Not the audience'?

Well played.

I hated the theatrical version with a passion, but am curious to see the ultimate cut just to see how different it is. I am not expecting much improvement overall. Basically just a more well formed turd.

But I am not curious enough to spend money on it. I will wait until a friend gets it and borrow off of them, because there is no way this film is getting any more of my money.

What if I haven't watched the TC because I fucking hate MoS?

this scenario is not covered in the OP, did you even try

You probably won't like this. It's tonally the same. Extremely dour.

I would just watch it to say you watched it, but you definitely might wanna wait for some rental options.

hmmm I'm a try before you buy type of dude, especially when it comes to a movie like this, so I'll just wait until mid July and do the 48 hr rental for 6 bucks on amazon (which is about what I payed for the TC).

You're talking from blindness, so no, no. There are many new scenes, 20 mins of such.

While a continuation, this movie feels very different to MoS, very, from the more colorful cinematography and less "grounded" dialogue, this one is more operatic. Really, think Watchmen, it's the only parallel I can find.
Not July 19th?
You're right!

Did you actually read the thread? Like, at all?

But IS IT GOOD NOW?
The answer depends on you. If you don't like the dark deconstruction of your childhood heroes, this is not the movie for you.

Wait-what?

Dudes, there was a reason why Batman Begins/The Dark Knight was good and this wasn't.

There's some serious overselling of this movie going on here.

I don't know what you've been reading but that's only part it. There's entirely new scenes and no, they were not "rightfully" snipped. It's mind-boggling why some of this stuff was cut over what are actually worthless scenes kept in the theatrical cut.

Nice. So Vudu seems like the best place to buy? You get the digital version right away along with the physical copy. Guess I'll get that.

'Rightfully snipped' for length, was my assertion. As I said, based on the comprehensive breakdown of the changes in the spoiler thread (I can't recall who posted it) it didn't seem like anything that would change the comprehension of the movie, other than perhaps
Lex orchestrating a prison stabbing
.

But of course I could be wrong.

No, the 30 minutes are needed for BvS to become an actual movie, and not scenes cobbled together after one another like in the theatrical cut.

With the new R rating I'm expecting more brutality in the fight scenes?
Reading through the thread it seems like there's barely any more action in the film though? Why the R rating then?

I want to say one more thing.

This version really fleshes out act 1 and 2, act 3 is still a real disappointment. Doomsday is just a major annoyance to me.

Meh, if you liked the TC you'll like this one even more. If you hated it, don't bother. Kinda ehh about it? Maybe it will fix some issues for you, that is about it. Don't expect any miracles.

The real quedtion is: Which Martha is hotter? I'm gonna say Batmans mom.

I hated MoS but actually kind of liked BvS.

So...

Congratz, you are the weirdest person on the internet!

Seriously though, how is that possible.

Some stuff will come off that way but there's plenty where it changes the dynamic of scenes. The Capitol Hill hearing has an entirely different context than the theatrical cut. In the TC it comes off like the Senator is about to crucify Superman but in the UC
she's about to vindicate him and expose Lex
.

Wanna know?
Some mild nudity. Really. Puritanical US board strikes again. The rating was not changed in any other region (but Ireland, i think)

No argument here. The Doomsday fight is just kinda meh. However, this cut makes it more a bump on the road and not the central showpiece. There are like 20 minutes after it. That's good.

This is very subjective. There are a good many people, myself included, that consider Nolan's Batman (aside from Ledger) trilogy to be terrible Batman movies. Good movies, sure. TDK is a great Nolan movie. But the Batman aspects are really awful for some people.

I did hear that
Batman's warehouse fight has more blood. Like, blood trails on a wall, I believe.

I haven't read anything else relating to violence. Ben Affleck's butt gets screentime though
.

So does the Vudu digital version include the featurettes as well or will those only come on the blu-ray when you get the combo?

This.

LET'S BRING THESE GUYS BACK DOWN TO EARTH
Easy there partner. It's going to take a lot more than THE TWO OF US

I'm looking to see if it's a good movie. Not this "bad batman movie" silliness. Like what kind of backwards mentality is that?

Does the cut make the movie better a la Kingdom of Heaven? Or are the issues from the TC still present throughout the film regardless of how much fat is on this thing?

Any mention of the dead Robin's name?

Nope, and Jena Malone i
sn't Barbara either
:/

Well that's just because you guys didn't (and apparently haven't yet) get that they weren't Batman movies, but Bruce Wayne movies - which Nolan said right from the beginning.

Shit doesn't even matter.

They're just good movies.

This is like ASM2 all over again. "Great Spidey" they said, bad movie regardless.

Because MoS is frankly dull and unenjoyable and BvS had enough... oddness to it that it is interesting. The whole nightmare vibe to BvS is pretty neat. It has some dreadful lows but enough cool bits that I felt overall entertained and I'm actually kind of excited to see the UC.

But MoS is just not good. Aside from a few of the vignettes there's not much to like.
