Ok, not gonna lie, i have no idea what I am doing anymore

I took a few years away from BF after BF1 adn I cannot compete at all, the enemies are too small and I get destroyed, at least it gets that war feeling right

TTK is good, but hit detection is wonky. I noticed it more when the servers were fucked so its probably a server thing
in portal bad company 2 it takes wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too many bullets to kill. I switch to bad company 2 pc after to compare it and its awful

It aint rocket science. But i just went back and played some BF4 & BC2 for reference. To see what feels so bad about 2042.

The maps. I find them too big and poorly laid out. They aren't funneling action or creating good combat engagements. (not all. i dont know which maps i even played so far. And there was 1 that i did enjoy).

128 players. The game still feels empty. The map is too large even for this huge player count. You would need 400 ppl for this to feel right. It makes a full scale war feel like lonely pockets of action. Portal maps with player counts of 32 or 64 feel more epic. Also i think this is contributing to the quiet sounds of the game. I jumped into a BF4 match....and it felt like a war. Ppl everywhere doing all types of crazy things on land sea and air...with the appropriate chaotic sounds u would expect.

The map and minimap are clunky. And a downgrade. All the useless nonsense taking up screen space. Spawning feels worse than in the games from a decade ago. They need to return to kill cams and/or spawn screens. So u can see what mess ur about to spawn in to like BC2.

Vehicle spawning just feels bad. too many times u spawn and have to hoof it on foot. Yes u can call-in a vehicle. But that seems to be a band-aid fix because they realized they borked how u get vehicles. There is simply not enough of them and they are on long cool downs. 128 players. With less vehicles at ur disposal than games that were 16 vs. 16 over a decade ago.

I think one of the biggest problems may be the map showing where everyone is when ur spawning. This creates constant hot drops. Because everyone wants in on the action. Imagine if a battle royal just showed you where every single person on the map is. Well ofc you would get ur ass to where the party is. Bad Company just showed where some of ur team was. BF4 showed ur teammates and enemies that were being spotted or creating a shitstorm in a helicopter or something.

This is probably a big factor in whats making the game feel so barren. Because why go to other parts of the map when u can clearly see there isn't a fight to be had for miles in either direction.

*i didn't even mention the specialists and classes. Its just a fustercluck and there is no teamplay. Which is another reason this game doesn't feel like battlefield and has this weird chinese mobile game knockoff feel to it. Just one game of portal and u realize, oh yeah. Classes. that have specific gun loadouts and gadgets. Makes sense and instantly ppl are back to playing like a team and a squad. Which is completely missing from 2042 where its just lone wolf city

Pretty much this. Every recent Battlefield has significantly dropped in price not long after their disastrous launch.
It just has so many issues and just a skeleton of a game, its just not ready

I wanted to love this game but still have 6 hours left of my 10 hour trial and find myself wanting to play other games

Yea its fun but lacking. Definitely glad I have a 10 hour trial. Went back to Insurgency.

Thie game has potential to be good after a patch or 20. I mean no voice chat is unexceptable for a fps in 2021.

looking back BF 1 and BF V both got big price drops within a month. Most likely for Black Friday. So if this is only $30 in 2 weeks...i might pull the trigger. Because Portal really is good. And i want to support that. Ideally they put all their effort into improving that mode with features, maps, options etc. 2042 is everything thats wrong with current DICE, gaming and this franchise. But Portal is everything thats right about BF.

I wish they just separted these. Because i dont want to vote with my wallet and make them think that 2042 is good. I feel like word of mouth will spread and ppl will buy this just for Portal. But EA will take this as 2042 being a good game. Which its not. Just like BF1 getting huge sales and glowing launch reviews made them think it did a good job. And thus we got a continuation of the shitty new BF....with BFV.

I feel this way as well as I would buy a $40 version of Portal but hate the thought of buying the full game in its current shape

I'm enjoying it.

I Have No Idea Shrug GIF

But then again I wanted a PC style Battlefield and not a console one like Bad Company.

Nah, fuck no. I say this as someone who will likely play the majority of the game in Portal btw, but I also understand the moment one starts talking about TTK and other shit, you are not talking about the majority sir. MOST who buy this, will likely buy it for 2042 in terms of new maps, we already have data that shows majority of the community doesn't really give a shit about old games let alone old maps individually. As in, you literally can look up that server info of those older Battlefields....they are not in the millions lol

The number of people in those servers imho best represents the hardcore enthusiast community. Think about it like this, look at how Call Of Duty moves 30 million every year or something wild like that, do you really think majority give a shit about TTK and all the other details regarding such things? Why move on to a new game in 1 year? The majority want new. Thats it. The hardcore community games about classic maps, balancing, TTK etc, such things are rarely cared about by 20 million people or something as where the fuck do those people go after 6 months? So I think its best for us that Portal is part of 2042, just like I felt it was best to have a team deathmatch and a BR mode, I never played them, but I was also not fucking dumb enough to believe that most of those sales came from the hardcore community. I see zero evidence of that to argue for this to be a separate thing, shit that would be a worst case scenario lol

Oh so the OLD FUCKING MAPs with Portal move 1 million, but 2042 moves 20 million units yet you'd act shocked when they don't do another Portal game if it was separate? Keep it in the main game as we need those casual sales to even support having something like Portal.
But EA will take this as 2042 being a good game. Which its not
Portal being in 2042...I'd say makes it a good game. I don't even see enough in 2042 as a base game to say its bad. They have a new mode, 128 players, largest maps in BF history, free maps, put back bots, put back server menu, robot dogs and torandos, I'm fine with what was done and that is more then a good game as legit lots of what was done was even asked for by the community.

I heard complaints about small maps, they are now bigger
I heard complaints about small team size, they are not bigger
I heard complaints about DLC locking maps, they are not free for all to keep the community together
I heard complaints about no sever menu, it has returned
I heard complaints about not enough robot dogs, we got robot dogs lol

So I'd say they hit the mark on what was asked for by a lot and Portal is a cherry on top and many might consider the main thing to give a shit about, but I'd argue them listening is a bigger deal, it means a lot of the shit you are crying about can and likely will be addressed if they even addressed the above list, I even hear right now they are removing things that people are complaining about to balance it like that shield guy lol So i'm not worried at all about how they'll do and EA should take this as a good game. I don't see enough to say its a bad one based on some extremists view
. Just like BF1 getting huge sales and glowing launch reviews made them think it did a good job
"think"? Sir, if record sales and great reviews is not enough to be a good job, I don't know what measurement can be used man. When the best selling BF in history has to be debated on being a 'good job" I think we've gone a bit down the deep end. I no longer even understand what you'd want them to think at that point. Its like you have a BF that you like and if another title hits records sales and many review it well and like it its like "which its not" and or "think it did a good job" lol

How the fuck can anyone even please such a thing?

Even I don't care for BF1 like that, but I also don't just pretend that it was some illusion that someone "thinks" its good but "which its not" lol nah... If someone buys the game, it hits record sales, gets great reviews, I can't argue against such a thing as a claim. Someone likes it, bought it, reviewed it well etc. Even if I disagree, its valid that the company sees this as good as they are a business. Only time I'd say otherwise is some wild shit like the game is missing what was marketed or scamming people or something lol

Look at it like this East, thats how you feel about BF1 and clearly it got huge sales, such a thing can happen with 2042 and I'd say it would be a great thing for you and I. Portal being in the game, if they see that could have helped sales, it means we'll get Portal in other BFs in the future, so I don't see a downside to this as what we are asking for isn't even a thing that is like Fortnite lol its a thing that the hardcore care about and is more of a love letter to old BF, then needed to move units.

Again...BF1 did that shit with zero Portal bud.

pauljeremiah pauljeremiah MAG was too ahead of its time and I feel could be great with a better team. I feel when I learn the maps out, I'll be able to navigate to the action spots, but tbh thats most BF games at the start.

People cried about small maps, they gave bigger ones.

Folks going to complain about big maps now too? So I'd rather have big maps where many clusters of fire fights can happen then small maps

I’ve never been a Breakthrough player, Conquest was always my jam, but man this is what this game is made for. You never get that feeling that the map is too big in this mode and it’s alway straight out chaos.
If you haven’t given it a try I highly recommend you do so.

I wish they kept Team Deathmatch as I always found that mode a handy way to unlock extras for my weapons that are based on how many kills you have with that gun.

I played MAG a bit at a friend's house. Was ok. But coming from playing COD, it felt like shit at 30 fps. It was trying to be COD on steroids.

BF and BFBC games did well even though it ran at 30 fps too due to the totally different nature of the game and giant scope. When I was playing MAG I was thinking this s basically COD but at half the frame rate and everyone tossing endless green gas bombs spawn trapping gamers. Not surprised it didnt last. It probably would had done great of there werent any COD games on console.

True, I hate that feeling of having to learn out a new map and set up etc. I generally don't like this phase and after a few weeks...I'm ok, but I hate the overwhelming feeling of a new learning curve and all the new elements lol, but once I get the hang of it, I'm ok for hundreds of hours so I'm sure to a degree many are also like this.

I also didn't know they got rid of team death match, I never really played it in the other BF titles, but I was ok with it being there as I know its popular.

Agreed. I feel the concept is great, but the execution was just horrid. I feel it goes to show that people need to put some respect on DICE and Infinity Wards name, what they do isn't an easy thing to pull off and we see more flops in that genre then almost any other. I hope to see it again one day under a different team as Sony would really need a strong ass game plan and a fucking dream team to get it done.

Be like "we want dem ex DICE developers, ex COD developer and an ex developer from Turtle Rock that joined just for fucking fun, they all BROKE DA RULES and can't be controlled" lol

I'd expect The Getaway rebooted with their whole open world hard on that they have vs a MAG reboot. If they really did put together some ragtag group of ex developers to make some crazy massive FPS title with like 512 players, that really would be the biggest shock of the gen, maybe next to MS buying Zenimax lol

Would be nice if it just played like BC2,but I found out that this game has bloom so that could be why it's so awful.

i found the TTK in the Bad Company 2 Rush featured mode to be pretty much the same as Bad Company 2 is supposed to be. And in the Create ur own portal server options...there are options for TTK, damage, aim assist and all types of other stuff.

But EA will take this as 2042 being a good game. Which its not. Just like BF1 getting huge sales and glowing launch reviews made them think it did a good job. And thus we got a continuation of the shitty new BF....with BFV.
I agree with you on buying because portal is good but EA being stupid enough to believe 2042 is what made the package.

2042 (all out war) is one of the worst games I’ve played in the last couple of years. It gets so much wrong and it isn’t even little things. Maps are terrible and there is no focus on player encounters, it’s just an empty space to fight in and poor hit detection makes it absolutely infuriating to play.

Portal on the other hand is great, it’s such a shame that there is so little content. All DICE had to do was take out Hazard Zone (another waste of time) and 2042 then sink the budget into Portal.

Portal with all maps from BC2, 1942 and BF3 would have been perfect and I’d have bought that within 10 minutes of playing the trial. As it stands, I want to support portal but don’t want to buy into the whole package as it’s pretty terrible.

ok, I need help. Origin is a fucking bitch.

I bought EA play on steam to be able to play 10hrs before launch.
Once they were over I bought EA Play Pro on Origin (since you cant buy it on Steam) to be able to continue to play.

Now origin told me to download the Ultimate Edition via origin, I moved all the files from Steam to the origin folder but it says "repairing" aka downloading the ENTIRE game again, even though it said earlier to "install"

wtf is going on, how do i fix that

Jesus reddit is a clusterfuck. They are all talking like the game is hurting their mother. For some people it seems like 60€ is like feeding their whole village for one year. It's just a game man, chill the fuck out. People are wasting money on so much more shit and getting so little out of it.

I don't know what to say but played 6 hours yesterday and im having a blast. The only BF I didn't really love was BF1 but all others were also fun to me.

What I found surprising is I was really looking forward to portal mode but now I just find me playing 2042 all the time and enjoy it a lot more than the old stuff.

Im playing on PC with controller btw.

Just started my ea access 10 hour trial and the game has crashed twice before I could get through 1 match. Sound is improved but visuals are the same on ps5. "Ps network error".

I don’t think we should excuse companies for releasing steaming turds just because people spend a lot of disposable income on stupid stuff these days. People are entitled to air their grievances about this game, even if you’re having fun with it.

Played a lil bit, thought it was okay. BC2 was the last game in the franchise I really put hours in tho. That female recon annoyed the shit outta me, her voice and accent are terrible.

I don't get it, I'm really enjoying myself with this and don't get the hate.

It's the most fun I've had with a Battlefield on launch for ages. It ain't perfect but it's a better starting point than recent entries.
Same, but its the first bf I played since 1943. I really like it.
Some things need to be fixed though like the Hovercraft being op as fk against rockets.

I think I've never had less fun with a Battlefield game than with this iteration. I want to like it but it's impossible. The maps are so incredibly bad is hilarious. Never thought I'd play an MP Shooter with worse maps than Cold War. 128 players is just too much. There is no teamplay let alone squad play. There is absolutely no flow to the gameplay whatsoever. Please don't buy this game. Please.

Something is off about this game. Just everything feels low budget idk.

the guns lack “punch” , muzzle velocities way too low. Made worse by the fact that the maps force long range encounters.

Feels empty, game has no voice chat, no stat tracking, no score board ect.

only 22 weapons (lol wtf)

terrible performance regardless of platform or build.

what was the point of the class system?

the UI is abysmal, not only is it clunky, the boundaries aren’t even correct and some elements clip off screen.

the audio is so flat - this one hurts so much because BF games were known for their audio.

this game is so disappointing. Everyday we watch as our once beloved franchises widdle and die due to neglect.

For me personally if it would have more modes like TDM on a smaller scale with no vehicles, a scoreboard and voice chat built in the game would be miles better

I know I can find TDM via portal though

Edit in as I forgot the cross play between the new gen consoles must include PC users is a bad decision.

Plus on Xbox to disable cross play you have to do it in the system settings of the Xbox and not able to do it in game settings
