Uh... I think you misunderstand. Those new players aren't playing against rank P30+ players that'll absolutely destroy them.
that 10 Unica Headshot thing is such a pain. It's not that bad, but I have to pretty much catch someone unaware to get the headshot. Got 12 yesterday, haven't been able to get one today.
Just look for snipers out in the middle of nowhere and sneak up on them. That's how I'm getting the Phantom Bow headshots, 35/50 right now.
Big open maps are usually the best for this.
I already unlocked the Unica, trying to get the 20 headshot for the Deagle.
Yeah that's really what I've been doing, but then I feel like shit since it feels like I'm not helping the team by going out of the way to hunt for snipers. So I've just been trying to get them by hoping I catch someone off guard when capping points in conquest.
If you play a lot of Locker you can just camp the underground stairway/halls and possibly get headshot there. It's how I get a few bow headshots when I was like 40/50 of the way done.
Or you can just jump in the water on Naval Strike/water maps and fire at the only part of the persons body that is ABOVE water (their head) with the Unica. Doesn't work for the bow, obviously.

CTE #1 (Blue was before I switched to Black. But since they're going to introduce Night Maps sometime in the future I may just go back to Blue since Blue looks alright on most of the other maps)

Live #1 (Major Problem with the "Jet color" HUD is that you need to blow the glow up to get around the sun IIRC for vehicles and the reticle if you keep the jet colors like I have in Live, may just change to gaudy/bright instead)

I'm thinking since I use green (one of my preferred colors) as a reticle, I'll leave the green as the normal. Red (like Hardline's E3 Beta/"Alpha") as the headshot (thank CTE for pushing for this and getting all the above, BTW), and maybe a bright yellow/orange? as the kill confirm if I don't just switch to Blue. Depends.
The bright colors help blot out the sun (in general, if you up the glow I guess) and help against dark backgrounds. I haven't really dove deep into mixing colors, but it really depends on your style and what color(s) you prefer and if you want different statuses for the hitmarkers.
You haven't been in servers where newbies (0-20) are on one side while 100-P10+ is on the other side steamrolling? I envy you.

That's just server admins rank/clanstacking.
Saw enough of it in BF3 to know to stay away from clan owned servers and check the player list to see if any of the admins are on.
mostly play on offical or ranked servers and the new mixed map stuff is a god send to stop from sever hoping.

That's weird, it's supposed to save your progress as soon as the round ends even if you leave or disconnect.
So wait a few minutes and check Battlelog again.
I just checked and it does work, the problem is you picked the wrong mode if you wanted to do Conquest Large.
It goes like this:
-Close Quarters: Mix of TDM and DOM
-The Battlefield: Mix of Conquest Small, Rush and Onliteration
-Large Scale Battles: Only Conquest Large
As far as I can tell it includes every single map in the game, at least the Large Scale Battle mode does.
No it isn't. Randoms of higher levels is not going to attempt to "carry" lower levels. Hence, the steamrolling. Them locking 0-10's into 32 player(?) servers to play against each other is a good "ease-in" ability before they get thrown to the wolves.
So, apparently I'm "legit" enough to not be kicked out of random peoples squads now. #winning

Jungle it is for me. Hopefully something that calls back to Laguna presa or Valparaiso, but much larger in scope than those bc2 maps.
Except it's not a mix of Conquest Small, Rush and Obliteration, but rather Conquest on all maps, then Rush on all maps, then Obliteration.
The maps are also not mixed. It's vanilla first, then two from each DLC. At least in the five servers I played in yesterday.
It's just so sad that DICE LA can't even do mixed servers right. It would help the game more than 90+% of their other fixes, yet they don't give a shit.

It doesn't take very long at all to get to Rank 10 if you're a good player.
There definitely is a disadvantage for new players going up against experienced ones, one of the major reasons simply being knowledge of the game such as map layouts etc. I think it's a good move to let the new players have a couple of rounds to figure stuff out themselves.

Sorry for the newbie question but why can't I get a game no matter how many times I go to the Battlefield or large scale battle option. Only ever empty server.

Are you quick-matching? It may be your filter settings. Go into the server browser and see how many populated servers you get. If none, change your filter(s).

I am quick matching. I wanted to use those playlists as they mix all the content together. Server browser seems fine(if it's supposed to be 90% conquest). Basically I would like to play a wide variety of modes on a wide variety maps. Maybe see if this battlefield thing clicks with me.
Which platform are you on? I get full games regularly from that mode on PS4.

in other news... so they finally fixed the Premium download for Dragon's Teeth on 360? guess people don't know yet, those servers are so empty...
Not possible until they fix map and mode rotations on the "The Battlefield" Servers.
Also they need to give players the option to only play in official, non-rented, servers. I suspect the map rotation is broken because "server admins" aren't aware of how to change it. (Or can you not change the rotation once you decide on a map "experience"?)
Players can already toggle official or ranked by hitting R3. Anything else seems to be working fine.
Which doesn't work because I still get put into servers that are rented but with official settings.
Before you guys praise features such as mixed servers or something, try them out. I know the options are there, but they don't work.
