Battlefield 4 |OT2| Is it fixed yet?

I just cannot believe they can sell us a product like this and there is no way to make them accountable for it.

well you can try and not buy Battlefront or Battlefield 5.But unfortunately they are most likely forced by EA to work on the DLC now as the game mostly works. Balancing stuff and small additions are still coming.

i think the problems it now has are way too deep in the engine, kinda like Bethesda with the PS3 version of Skyrim.

I have a game idea for the China Rising maps that would make the way they are played make sense – King of the Hill. D point is worth 5 tickets while every other cap is worth 1 (According to however bleed works). Now all those assholes fighting over D while everything else gets capped are doing God's work.

Tickrate
Players have been asking whether the tickrate – how often the server will update the game world – in Battlefield 4 will be higher in the future. Though we haven’t got any immediate plans to increase the tickrate at this moment, we are exploring the possibilities of raising the tickrate on specific servers.

*sigh*

I guess it's something, though.

Maybe now if I prone in Golmund Highway's second set collapsed building in front of A I can shoot THROUGH the goddamn collapsed building instead of being a sitting duck that can't pick off disarmers? Nice.

Something that's been bothering me for ages:

Since I'm normally below the halfway point on the >16v16 scoreboards, how am I supposed to make them scroll so I can see my score? I'm on PC, and I cannot get it to scroll down when I press Tab. Pretty sure this was solved in BF2...

On PS4 it scrolls down to your score automatically.

He's talking during a round. It does that at the end of round automatically on PC. But the "live scoreboard" in a round when you press select (PS3) or tab (PC) doesn't scroll it because it limits to 16 players on both sides.

BF3 let you scroll the live-scoreboard during a round on PC for 64 players. BF4 somehow removed it.

I'm wondering how much of the GUI was that Battlelog outsourced companys doing given the terrible GUI and issues BF4 has...

I KNEW IT

Thought surely I was misremembering its presence in 3.

And the worst part is, on a couple of 64 player games I've played, it's used a smaller font to show all players on one screen. So I know that's possible. Why on earth isn't it standard?

Having real trouble unlocking the SUAV. Spent a few hours yesterday afternoon trying to get it and the handful of times I've actually managed to get in the bomber station I've somehow only gotten kill assists rather than actual kills. Just my luck.

Whoever it is at DICE who thinks up the criteria for these assignments needs a slap.
Any kind of achievement/trophies/assignments involving multiplayer or social stuff in general tend to be problematic it seems. Like the people making them have no grasp of how reality works.

If you hold the options button to bring up the scoreboard on PS4 it will auto-scroll after a moment to your position on the board, if it is off screen.

Yeah it really sucks. Attack heli in BF3 was my favorite thing, perfect balance between power and vulnerabilty.

Attack heli in BF4 I NEVER get into, I've flown more in the damn transport helicopter.

got annoyed with a guy taking the transport chopper to camp a tower on rogue trans that i called him a few bad things.

He said "if you don't like it" that i should "make like a tree and leave."

i laughed because he was the one rooted to one spot being a useless cunthorn.

Huh, weird. There used to be a scroll wheel in BF3 PC. I wonder why they removed that and just had it automatically scroll on consoles.

90% of the time I use jets it's so I can cap difficult to reach flags. So they aren't completely useless like helicopters. Just mostly useless.

I had an awesome round last night on Lancang. My jet was teleporting everywhere and the enemy MAA had the entire map on lockdown. I could shaky teleport around above uncap though and sometimes fly as far as my first flag without active missiles hitting me. Very enjoyable experience.

Much to Over's dismay, and with a stroke of luck and some skill, I unlocked the GOL using the LV320 grenade launcher. Shit was glorious.

Speaking of glorious...DAT GOL, reminds me of my bad company 2 days.

How do I unlock the Mtar?
How and where do I have to go to create a platoon?

Holy shit, using the iron sights. *boner*

I can't get the courage to do one-shot-one-kills like that up close with it like that. I slapped the first scope it's given (the 8x?) on it and do long range sniping like I did with the default scope in BC2.

Love that gun, but it REALLY doesn't have bullet drop that the other snipers do. It's a little weird given most other guns have drop.

Why hopefully not? A lot of people care about that carrot on a stick. If you're not one of them then why hope for no level cap raise?

Well, it's a community page to discuss a game. Plenty of questions in this thread could be answered via a quick google search. I haven't paid attention to the poster you were quoting so maybe there's a history there I'm unaware of but on the surface it seemed like a harmless question. Why antagonize?

Then again, his post was pretty damned whiny and annoying...so I understand in the specific case, but not as a general rule. As for the level cap, when I first searched for it a couple weeks back one could think the cap was increasing based on most of the results I saw. There was so much information going one way or the other that it wasn't clear what the truth was. It wasn't until I got confirmation from GAF that I truly believed there wasn't a cap increase. BF4 Gaffers > The Internet ;)

For me, the battlelog is buggy as hell on the PS4 and frequently I can't get information I'm looking for. I don't have a PC set up at home and the android app also seems to crash a lot on my Galaxy S3. I mean, the advice to check the battlelog is good, but sometimes posting a question on GAF is the more reliable route since DICE's sloppiness really shines through here.

OMG...I want that.

I need to get around to playing again sometime soon. Hoping to hop on one of these nights and experience a mostly rubberband / lag free match where it doesn't crash or kick me off a server or something else. The first month or so of this game was excellent for me. Random crashes, but nothing I couldn't handle. One or two conquest maps that'd rubber band, and not even 100% of the time.

Maybe I've had bad luck recently but every time I've tried playing since around the time second assault launched it's been bad experience after bad experience. PS4 version.

It was just this. I don't mind people asking questions, but if they go unanswered ask again. The comment s/he wrote wasn't a friendly reminder asking for answers and came off as belittling people on this thread for not answering the questions. I'm all for GAFers helping GAFers but I don't like it when people feel entitled to it.

Because the level cap as it is right now is fine. The only people that want a raise are the ones that want a carrot on a stick so they can continue to play. Everyone else goes "eh, who cares about that? DAT WIN/LOSS DOE!" and continues to attempt to win rounds.

I've never heard people say they needed DICE to raise the cap in BF3 or Bad Company 2 despite those having a pretty bad curve in terms of time to cap from time of last unlock.

I think most people worry too much about that carrot on a stick when it really doesn't matter with the new weapon XP system.

Then I agree completely. Just making sure since I think I've asked a few questions here in the past that may have been easily answered via google. First Battlefield game I've played, so most of my questions were probably pretty dumb looking back but you guys have helped me a ton :)

OTOH this puts players in a position where they have to use guns that are suboptimal for a situation if their focus at that moment is to unlock stuff. I'd rather unlocks continue to be for random attachments, camo, etc via an XP system than being forced to run around with DMRs that I'm terrible with because I wasn't lucky enough to get a certain piece of camo while working towards level 110.

I mean, yeah, nobody needs to get the camo and other things but it's still a fun thing for many to go for.

I dunno, I just see nothing wrong with players who couldn't care less for XP or for those who do. Some players don't care about K/D ratio or SPM. Some don't care about this or that. I don't want to tell people what things they should or shouldn't want, at least not something that the game conditions a player to expect for the first couple hundred hours of playtime.

I've never played the other battlefield games. I'm merely talking about my experience with this game in particular.

Still a good gun, just got tired of using it for a while.

The #1 problem with the level cap is no more levels = no more battlepacks = no more weapon attachments.

Right. And EA plans to sell those. Or did. Who the fuck knows what is up with that anymore since they did have Battlepacks ready to sell on the PSN store. Honestly, the Battlepack system is horseshit and it should just go away. Battlepack's accessories should just be put under the normal unlocks and there you go.

(And that's not really true: You still have the per-weapon Battlepacks that'll unlock accessories for the guns. The problem is after getting all the level and per-gun Battlepacks, you're still not going to 100% unlock everything because again: EA wants to sell you this stupid shit)

Flying is so unbelievably useless. It's really quite amazing how much they've neutered the air game.
Did you play Battlefield 3 at launch? It was cool how the aircraft in that didn't start off with IR flares and you had to unlock them. Jets were no fun at all. Thankfully they eventually patched it in after people like me had spent the time basically grinding for them.

For some reason, they don't show every player, requiring the auto scroll.

I see what you're doing here, finally. >_<

@Faceless: Even then you have the bullshit level 110/cap Battlepacks that give you XP boosts. It's completely bullshit and I knew it was gonna be awful after they were like "yeah we're copying Mass Effect 3's system!" for that shit. Mass Effect 3 locked classes behind that shit instead of letting you be a Krogan Male Soldier from the get-go. >:|

Addressing “Netcode” in Battlefield 4

"We at DICE are committed to improving the overall Battlefield 4 multiplayer experience for our players. Some issues, commonly referenced in conjunction to “netcode” are preventing Battlefield 4 from performing optimally for everyone, and with this post we would like to explain what we are doing to address these problems.

Fixing the commonly nicknamed “netcode issues” – problems ranging between faulty networking latency compensation and glitches in the gameplay simulation itself – is one of the top priorities for DICE. We’d like to take a moment to discuss how we are addressing these issues, as this is a very hot topic for many of our fans.

We are working on fixing glitches in your immediate interactions with the game world: the way you move and shoot, the feedback when you’re hit, and the way other players’ actions are shown on your screen.

The game receives updates from the game server and displays these to the player using a system called latency compensation – this system makes sure players move around naturally on your screen when network updates arrive. We have found and fixed several issues with latency compensation, and thereby decreased the impressions of “one hit kills” in the game.

We have also fixed several issues that could lead to rubber banding, and we are working on fixing several more. Below you’ll find a detailed list of the issues we are focusing on, or have already adjusted in-game. We hope this gives you more insight into the “netcode” issues and we will continue to keep you updated on top issues.

What we are Fixing or Investigating

Rubber banding
We have made several server optimizations that have decreased rubber banding for some players. To further address the issue, there are upcoming fixes for packet loss and a customize screen bug, both connected to the rubber banding issue. Furthermore, we will continue to collect data to pinpoint exactly when and why rubber banding is occurring.

Kill camera delay / Player death sync
On some occasions, the kill camera would trigger before the game client displayed the last portion of damage being dealt, giving players the impression that they died too early. There were also issues with blood effects, damage indicators, and the health bar in the HUD being out of sync. A fix for this will be included in the next game update.

Tickrate
Players have been asking whether the tickrate – how often the server will update the game world – in Battlefield 4 will be higher in the future. Though we haven’t got any immediate plans to increase the tickrate at this moment, we are exploring the possibilities of raising the tickrate on specific servers.

No registered damage
We are aware of the bug where players have been firing at their opponent and not doing damage. In the February 13 game update for PC, we added a piece of code that enables us to specifically track instances where this would occur. We are currently looking at when this issue is triggered, and what causes it. The data that we receive will help us to further improve the firefights in the future.

Instant death while sprinting
At certain occasions while walking or sprinting, a player could get catapulted at high speed which would cause death if any object was standing in the way. This was caused by a mathematical error in the character physics code, and we have a fix prepared for an upcoming patch.

Various Items
In addition to these items, there are also fixes coming for issues with Levolution being out of sync, shots appearing to be fired in the wrong direction, and vehicles outside the infantry area not taking damage when fired at. Also, we have introduced new in-game icons that will help you, and us, to troubleshoot network related problems that could cause an inconsistent multiplayer experience.

Network Troubleshooting Icons
With the January 30-31 game updates, we’ve introduced two new icons to the Battlefield 4 HUD (head-up display). These were added to the game as a way for us, and the players, to more easily troubleshoot common network-related issues that may have negative effects on the multiplayer experience.

The first icon, seen at the top in the shape of a clock, indicates that your connection to the server is lagging. There can be several reasons for this. For example, it could mean that someone else is using your connection while you are playing, but it could also mean that there is a network problem that occurred somewhere between you and the server. The effect of such lag is that it will take a bit longer for you to see what is happening in the game world. If this icon is frequently blinking, you might want to try a different server or see if you can decrease the load on your Internet connection.

The second icon, at the bottom, shows four squares that indicate packet loss. When you see this icon, your connection to the server is experiencing lost packets, which means that information is failing to reach its destination, either when your game client sends it to the server or when the server sends the information to you. Please keep in mind that packets always get lost on the Internet and that you should not be alarmed if you’re seeing this icon blinking once or twice. If you have a large amount of packet loss and see the icon often, you will probably experience game “hiccups” sometimes – action will stop for a moment, then speed ahead to catch up.

What we have Fixed

Kill card shows 0 health
Kill card sometimes incorrectly displays 0 health, despite the enemy being alive. This could happen when a portion of damage dealt was rejected by the server, since the bullets that caused it were fired after the point of death for the firing player – the kill card would show the health as predicted by your game client, rather than the health confirmed by the server. An improvement that decreased the rate at which this happens went live for PC on Feb 13, and will be included in the next game update for all the platforms.

Broken collision
We have fixed instances of broken collision that made it impossible for players to shoot past broken objects, such as the collapsed chimney on Zavod 311.

Crosshair disappearing, resulting in hit markers disappearing
In firefights, players on PC could experience their crosshair disappearing, resulting in hit markers also disappearing. This would happen when certain gadgets were deployed by other players. A fix for this is now live.

Hit impact sounds
Impact sounds did not match the number of bullet impacts, causing players to feel that they died too quickly. An improvement to this went live for PC on February 13, and will be included in the next update for all the other platforms. The cooldown time for letting bullet hits trigger the sound has been decreased considerably, so players will now hear every bullet that hits them.

Headshot icon
We have re-introduced the headshot icon to help players understand when they get killed by a headshot, something that usually results in an instant death. The headshot icon went live in the January 30-31 game update for all platforms.

We want to assure you that we are constantly investigating, or already in the process of updating, all these items and several more that you’ve had concerns with – and that we will continue to do so with your help. Please continue to send us your feedback, and thank you for your continued support."

Welp, guess I'll play TitanFall as they try to fix it.
