Side A.
Ben Affleck doesn't have the physical presence of Batman.
Ben Affleck isn't a good actor.
Ben Affleck played a superhero before and was awful at it.
Ben Affleck should not play Batman.

Side B.
Well you never know he may do a good job. There was once this exception when etc etc
Ben Affleck should play Batman

The funny thing is that the folks on Side B of the argument are pretending that there's is the rational and mature argument when the opposite is true. Laughable. Affleck is a very poor choice.

And you are being rational and mature?

I don't like Ben Affleck.

Side B
Ben Affleck has come a long way since his Daredevil and Gigli days and has worked his way back into the public's good graces.
Ben Affleck's more recent pictures have featured good performances from him.
Previous actors have seemed like poor casts for comic characters, including Batman, did a good job. We have nothing to say this won't be a similar case.
We've seen nothing of this movie period. So perhaps "wait and see" would be better than jumping to conclusions and declaring this the death of Batman.

See? Two can play this game. It's dumb either way tho. :p

The worst part about this casting decision?

Ben Affleck won't be directing Stephen King's "The Stand". So much for that having a chance at being a quality film(s).

You know with Ben Affleck now as Batman and him having such a close relationship with Warner Bros in regard this is own films he's really in a position to offer suggestions in regard to the script and how something is directed. This could potentially be a a significant positive for those that have concerns regarding both Snyder and Goyer. Are they going to ignore the Oscar award winning director that could potentially go on to direct a Batman film and in turn make their own film look worse by comparison if they ignore his input. He's a director and writer himself and he might not want to step on their toes but if he does feel the need (why wouldn't he if something really stands out to him as not working or there could be a better way) to say something, being an actor, director, and comic book nerd himself (I believe this has been the case) would they really be in the position to not to listen?

Trying reading this with the Bale growl on top of the Boston accent. It's damn whimsical.

This is pretty much what many are saying will happen. Affleck shows up and uses his clout to reign in Synder and Goyer. One poster predicted he may be using this as prep to take over as director for Justice League.

This is, of course, all fan speculation and assumes Affleck isn't just in this to collect a nice pay check. lol

Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale were all great Bruce Waynes.

Bale had the best batman out of that group but it still left a lot to be desired. Affleck has a GREAT face for the cowl and I think he'll pull off the costume good but I don't really see him as Bruce Wayne, it's gonna be weird.

Should be interesting though.

Was pulling for Hammer, but he's too young.

Anyone who thinks Affleck can't act needs to watch Chasing Amy. A one-time miracle, but hey.

Not sure what to think of this yet.

I think it is going to come down to Zack Snyder totally fucking this up and everybody pulling an "I told you so" regardless of the quality of Affleck's performance.

They should have released a few promo shots to go along with the announcement. Maybe just a face to face shot of Affleck in the mask and Cavill with the hair slicked back. Might have quelled some fears.

I just don't like him because he gets more ass than me.

the benefit of batman in a zack snyder film is that perhaps finally audiences will see how good a fighter batman is. he's always been clunky and unconvincing in previous films.

the downside is that snyder/goyer will almost assuredly make a mediocre film. they don't have the power to rise above.

I'm not sure how good he will or won't be as Bats, but Affleck is a sign of how seriously WB will approach a Justice League movie. Man of Steel was a big deal in terms of trying to reboot the franchise, but the biggest star power they put behind it was Crowe and he wasn't in the title role.

Cavill was not/is not a big name. Affleck is. He may be their attempt at Robert Downey Jr. in terms of legitimizing their super hero team with bigger names. Affleck is arguably in a better position than RDJ was when he took the Iron Man role.

It will be interesting to see how they fill the JLA team going forward.

I thought Bale pulled off the best Wayne in terms of fighting, namely when he disarms the thugs in TDK.

This all reminds me of when Daniel Craig was announced as Bond.

Funny about Daniel is I wasn't familiar with him at all... and Pierce only was good in Goldeneye.... but once I found out that Martin Campbell was directing I was excited as a motherfucker...would have givin anything if he did all three... Casino Royale is the best bond film since Dr No... and Daniel is my favorite Bond...

Ben.......
This really doesn't bother me really.. Ben is a great director but just an ok actor... Is he really playing an older Batman? isn't he younger than Bale?....
I've never been a Superman fan really still haven't seen MOS.... I will probably skip it entirely now... but unless it gets the best reviews ever.. not watching is the only play anyone has.. All the petition stuff is funny.
