Following our recent investigations, we've been able to confirm the prices of Xbox's forthcoming handheld consoles. Unsurprisingly, they match the previous leaks: €599 for the Xbox Ally and €899 for the Xbox Ally X.

Among the other data we've gathered, we've been able to identify the launch date for pre-orders. Both models will go up for pre-order on Wednesday, 20 August, 2025.

forget about how xbox is a fu**ing mess right now..

900 euros for a absolutely niche product when the brand it self should need a reason to be popular again is... i can't even find words :-D

I was interested, but after seeing how the AMD Z2E performs compared to the Z1E, the smart move would be to wait for the UDNA handheld SoCs or grab the older Z1E handhelds when they inevitably go on sale for sub 500$.

I mean for what you are getting compared to the rest of the handheld pc market its a nice price. But it will never find a mainstream audience at that price point, its solely a niche product

Very expensive to the surprise of no one.

August 20th pre-orders go live.

We better be getting some super in-depth previews at Gamescome because there's still too many question marks for anyone to confidently pre-order this thing.

The US price should be cheaper since European prices always include VAT.

It's likely around $500 - $550 for the Xbox Ally and $800 - $850 for the Xbox Ally X in the US.

Yeah, and it comes with a better chipset.

Not for me but for those folks who like their PC handhelds, this seems like a decent enough deal I guess 🤷‍♂️

Depends on if MS can figure out the Windows bloat issue. A better chipset doesn't matter if SteamOS handhelds are running the same games 10-20% better with the same hardware.

Xbox Full Screen Experience.

I had to watch an Austin Evans hands on to learn this is what Microsoft is calling the software. :(

Its a PC handheld? Are you suggesting there isn't a market for them anymore?
Whatever market there is, it is tiny.

To the point where a manufacturer like asus might start questioning if it's worth even supporting.

I mean amphere put the total pc handheld sales to 6 million, if steamdeck is most of that, where does it leave every one else?

Why not just buy a Rog Ally X right now for the same price instead of waiting for this xbox branded one?
Wait till more is known about this damn, Xbox Full Screen Experience software and weather it can even be used on other devices. Nothing is known right now.

Fuck knows but they keep making them.

i think some people expected them to be more aggressive.
No way they'd sell this at a loss. I don't follow the HH market, isn't it just inline with everyone else?

No brainer to get the Xbox version for those looking at Rog Ally right now. Not really a huge difference in performance, but more efficient, better ergonomics, features.

Maybe in a few years on multiple sales or something. I wouldn't mind something like this but it's a secondary thing to the upcoming TV box. I'm still waiting until they finish unveiling everything regarding their entire slate of hardware and software UI stuff.

Isn't the battery supposed to be improved as well?

Not interested in buying this first iteration, but I am in the market for a Windows handheld to compliment my Steam Deck. The gen 2 version is a lock for me if they deliver with the UI experience.

I know that pricing is standard for the PC handheld market, but Microsoft is marketing this as an Xbox handheld, for Xbox customers, and god damn that sticker shock is gonna hit them hard. The Ally X costs more than a fucking Series X.

The Xbox version of the Ally X has a better chipset than the normal Ally X? I'm slow to have missed this.

Yeah, don't think it's a radical improvement or something but it's one revision ahead and paired with the Win 11 bloat reduction, it should, in theory, be a better experience.

I believe it has the same 80wh battery, but will perform the same as Rog Ally as lower wattage so battery life is indirectly improved.

The numbers are provided in Spanish sales data, and they usually top out at around 100 units for the lenovo go, with the rog ally selling a few dozen and the MSi claw single digits every weekweek (for comparison in a typical week the ps5 and switch sell 3 to 5k or so each)

It is.

Look I don't get it either. People act like this is some huge market and an obvious path for everyone when in reality it's expensive and niche and these devices barely qualify as portable considering how huge and unwieldy they are. This is just one more niche device like all the other niche devices.
