BioWare trusts its players and therefore Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not use Denuvo

At the same time, it was confirmed that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released on PC without any kind of DRM protection, such as the dreaded Denuvo, information that was welcomed by many gamers.

According to BioWare's executive producer Michael Gamble, it's because BioWare trusts the players.

In addition, responding to a user, he reinforced that the game will not have a mandatory online connection, but did not confirm whether the game will be released on the GOG platform, known for selling DRM-free games.

No DRM, no EA app, Steam Deck verified at launch - perhaps I'm being too pessimistic, but it feels like doing everything they can to earn good will because they lack confidence in their game. Two more weeks and we'll know for certain.

The amount of stuff they already showed and the preview event content ( it was like 6-7 hours hands on) made me feel the opposite way

lol come on people you don't have to like the game but at least hate it for the stuff worth hating, not this. You can dislike a game while still acknowledging when it does something good
We constantly get people bitching about DRM and Denuvo on PC and somehow this game not having it is also bad?

I have no interest in it and won't be buying it but I always welcome notable releases launching with no DRM

To be completely fair to them they are doing what they can to earn good will like you say. All of this is extremely positive in my opinion. It's just a shame that the game doesn't look all that special in my opinion.

I'm a huge fan of Dragon Age Origins but this looks more of a mix of both the second and third entries which I didn't care for.

Don't need to implement Denuvo if no-one wants to play it.

Maybe they’re banking on word of mouth regardless of the method it spreads?

The public look of the game is shot after all. However if the public at large tries it and likes it, maybe that would reverse the tide.

But what if the game was never going to sell in the first place.. :pie_thinking:

If i knew my game wasnt gonna be great, ofc id pander and appeal to the masses. Consequently if sales were poor, then id blame piracy 🤷‍♂️

Question is, how good is this thing..

Why does this feel like someone asking for petty cash? No DRM, no EA store, no MTX, normal price, decent system requirements. Either this game will be the biggest (good) surprise of the year or they know its a massive L and theyre just trying to score good boy points before the shitshow.
It will flop and it will flop hard, no drm/denuvo means they will have petty excuse why it didnt sell, while reality is- with those concord alike characters game simply is too unappealing for even many DA series veterans to play it.
I bought ps4 copy of DA:I at launch and loved it, yet every trailer/info/screenie i see from DA:V makes me basically puke coz of disgust :messenger_confounded:

And yup even morrigan now looks ugly af, not to mention basically all other characters, u cant even make sexy character urself coz character creator prohibits chars from having proper breasts and hips/butt, all chars gotta be flatchested and have nasty disease called flatassery :messenger_ok:

TLDR: Game made for non existent "modern audience", definitely offputing for majority(to not say all) straight guys, i can already see michael "the jynx" pachter complaining again about "rare incel victory" :p

Man, ever since that god awful reveal trailer that got ratio’d to hell, they’ve been trying soooooooo so hard to generate some positive sentiment for this game.

Hey did you guys know you can PET THE CATS in this game? OMG the astroturf marketing bots are so excited for it!!

Looks like EA cant win on the internet no matter what they do. Lets just wait how the actual game is before throwing it under the bus? I know i know im asking too much from some people on this forum.
While I totally applaud this, I have absolutely no faith in Bioware to deliver a solid game story-wise (and that really saddens me). They need to earn me back. I'll keep an eye on the next Mass Effect if this DA turns out to be good by some miracle but I doubt there is any hope left in Bioware. And believe me, I really really really hope I'm wrong.

But this is still a very, VERY good news because Jedi Survivor was a chore to play on PC with that shitty EA app. Yet for many people, me included, EA need to do a lot more to be redeemed and that's understandable.

Sure, but no one knows if the game is shit.
Nah, I think most of us here can tell with a pretty high chance of being correct how good a game is for us personally based on gameplay, trailers and other shit. People don't go blind into the movies either. They made up their mind by looking at something as simple as a poster to make their purchasing decision. Nothing wrong with that. I don't need to eat shit to know that I don't like it. To each their own though.

From the previews I’m not sure this is worth the bandwidth, but it’s a good gesture and is making me consider actually buying it on PC now if the reviews surprise me.

That’s a big IF

No, you’re just being reactionary based a few things you may not like on a game that hasn’t been released yet. I’m all for shitting on games when they out and can be confirmed to be trash. I can also go for judging art styles, and settings. But no one here can confirm whether the whole product is bad until the whole product is released and playable.
