BioWare trusts its players and therefore Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not use Denuvo

I don’t believe for a second this is the reason. They know the game is being sent out to die, and they don’t want to spend the money on costs of protecting the game when it won’t sell anyway just costing them more. This is a veild attempt to gain positive PR before release. Sorry not buying it

I'd say it is the lying that is bad.

Admit that the cost of Denuvo was a factor. Admit that the budget was a factor. Admit that your team has lost so much goodwill with players that you are now required to do everything possible to curry favour. Just don't lie and say that it is due to "trust".

Are they trusting enough to put it on GOG with no DRM?

Come on, this is what almost every company does.
Almost no one will do something for PR and/or cost saving and literally tell you they are doing it for PR/Cost saving.

It's hardly different than when games no longer came with manuals or phones no longer shipped with chargers and we were told it's "for the environment", except in this case buyers are actually getting a bennefit out of it.

Again, let's criticize the game and Bioware for the stuff worth criticizing instead of hating on them because for some reason they are expected to be the only major gaming company that doesn't do generic PR talk.

Yep, they know the game is going to underperform like crazy so why spend the cash on Denuvo.

Why don’t EA remove the shit and EA app from the two Jedi games and ME Trilogy as well if they trust their players.

Just a reminder that is an old trick EA has done for years. They abuse the fuck out of you, then say they'll stop it for like 1 game so they look like they are sacrificing something for their fans that they love oh so much, but also working behind the scenes on new ways to do worse things.

I remember when that cunt at EA, Andrew Wilson, after years of online passes, came out and said "no more online passes" and was smiling ear to ear as the live audience cheered, but you could see the horns on his head grow. Then we got season passes.
They did it with Dead Space remake by using "no microtransactions" as a "friendly, respectful gesture" but it was of course, just an advertising trick, and they don't give a shit about you.

EA does this to seem like they are reformed or good people, all the while having horrible games like Fifa that sell the practice of gambling to all, even children, without a care in the world. They have released games like UFC 3 that got patched to have adverts, while also retro patching the previous game, UFC 2, to have them too.

This is not a good or friendly company. They are starving you, then giving you mold covered scraps, while they make hundreds of millions profit while screaming about how expensive games are to make / copy paste. Then they make badly received games like this and act like they are trying their best to serve their amazing fans by not including extra bullshit.

Fuck EA.

It's the players that don't trust Bioware.

Unfortunately that’s the issue. Me personally I’ve enjoyed everything they’ve put out to varying degrees. Except for that MP game that was pretty much doa. There last game I think it was I forget the name.

From what they’ve shown so far, the gameplay looks pretty solid to me. I’m not sure I understand all the negativity. Of course, there’s always a chance it could prioritize DEI in ways that feel forced, but I think we’ll only know for sure once the game is released.

Cool, but this is irrelevant. ‘EA’ is not what’s on sale in storefronts. It’s Dragon Age: Veilguard.

And the topic under discussion is how far they’re going to reduce many of the popular pain points for players. Steamdeck compatibility, no EA launcher, very approachable specs, no Denuvo.

for consumers, each game is its own unique entity. Why should FIFA or FC matter to anyone who’s considering buying Dragon Age?

Had to confirm I wasn’t on Resetera when I saw this post filled with ‘outrage-by-association’

What a noble gesture. I'm sure it won't be exploited at all.

They probably know it's going to do terribly initially so are hoping, if it does get pirates easily it might cause a bit of stir and get some word of mouth and generate a few more sales (if it's decent).

Or they don't want to waste anymore money on it and are sending it out to die.

Very noble.

Even though I'm absolutely skeptical of Nu-Bioware, I really do hope that this game turns out great.

They have absolutely everything going against them, but despite that, there are some good signs here.

No denuvo, Steam Deck support, no forced EA App, etc. These are objectively good things.

We'll have to wait and see I guess. Fingers crossed.

Nice house you built there Bioware...

Just a shame you built it on poor foundations(DEI/ESG garbage game).

I tried the last dragon age and the combat just seemed really bad. Half way action nonsense. These systems are never good.

What is this new game, do we know ?

This is an interesting approach. Pirates likely weren't gonna buy it, but may play it and talk about it. It will likely be the only New AAA PC game pirated this year. If it is good and pirates like it, it could boost console copy sales.
