Black Myth Wukong content creators were asked not to talk about topics unrelated to the game such as feminism, but they still did.

Interesting.

Looks like they picked and chose which content creators to send that email, doesn't look like all of them got it.
If the document is real, then it was sent by co-publisher hero games to content creators. Major fuckup. Amateurish job, as they didnt even format the document right.
Seems a second creator has confirmed its real

"A second content creator received the same email from Hero Games, and confirmed to GLHF that the key provided was functional."

Just pointing out that the that website is left-centric, also the writer for this article on the purple forum.

The dude who wrote the medium article is Dom Parsons just happens to work for TechRadar, which wrote one of the biased reviews like Screen Rant.

The biggest evidence on this being real is Paul Tassi, which clearly isnt interested in the drama.

What this tells me is that the document is from the co-publisher, not Game Science.

After getting those guidelines, this is how I would’ve started my review for IGN:

It was at home, isolated because of the Chinese virus, that I first saw the initial reveal of Wukong.

This will backfire on them and Winnie the Pooh memes will live on for a long time.

An easier solution would simply be refusing to send out keys to outlets more focused on preaching & moaning about political and social topics, rather than talking about the gameplay. The usual suspects are very easy to recognize.

I heard that they really received this mail, but it's coming from a gmail account instead of from the corporate mails of the gamedev or PR agency companies.

So I'd take it with a grain of salt, even if it's common to see gamedevs asking reviewers to don't talk about certain topics, to don't publish their videos or reviews before a certain day and hour, etc.

With media and the CCP being virtually inseparable in China, I am taking these emails as narrative control by the government. I fully expect to see people talk about everything they said not to, and it is what they deserve. You don't control what our people say. We decide If we want to hear it or not. That how it works here in the west.

Forbes article is up,

They confirm emails were changed:

There were some oddities about the Google document pointed out before this, including a Gmail address that created it, but the initial email contacts were not sent by Gmail. The sender is an @yingxiong email address, where that points to Hero Games, a marketing partner with Game Science for Wukong. Having seen the full exchange, not shown here due to parties not wishing to be identified, which ended in an actual code to redeem, this is not just a random document that was made and circulated online.

Clearly very amateurish job from publisher

And some dumbs here complain about we're being in the same level as the discussion there.

The people who gave bad reviews to the game and the girl who made the Sexist IGN article are on that thread, funnily enough.

Private platforms got their own rules. That place just chose to make it a hivemind cesspit and suppress people voices, who got a dozen other platforms minimum they can goto.

Side note: Actually made an account to talk to the people there. Turns out, they chased out all the minorities with their purantical bullshit. I honestly have no idea who they are even speaking for and representing, as they don't even respect the communities they claim they want to protect.

Just remember IF you buy this game you are supporting genocide of the Uyghurs
This kind of comment justifies why the "no talk unrelated to the game" requirement is necessary. This game developer has nothing to do with the Chinese government, yet people still want to bring politics into a private gaming company. Bringing these kinds of comments into anything related to China (other than the CCP) shows how misguided some people are. Very disgusting!

It China dude

"As with almost all mass media in the country, video games in China are subject to the national policies of censorship. Content in video games is overseen by SART/NRTA; publishers are required to obtain a license for the game in China from SART before publishing, which may be denied if the game contains elements deemed inappropriate. The process to submit games for a license and put them on sale following that is overseen by MOC.[44] The State General Administration of Press and Publication and anti-porn and illegal publication offices have also played a role in screening games.[125]"

There is no separation between the private industry and the public government, as seen by people disappearing for merely critiquing the damn government

The only misguided people are those that agree to their guidelines.

I came in here for the memes.

I have not been disappointed.

That ExServ dude is using the same unverified gdoc as their source. :/ Some different content creators need to come out and post screenshots with the streaming guidelines that Game Science sent out.

Anyway, the reddit post on /r/GamingLeaksAndRumours has now been tagged as false.

So this story is FUD?

Not fake, just really bad PR
  • Email was changed from @yingxiong to @gmail then to @gamer.s.ci.
  • Email was sent by Hero Games, co-publisher, not Game Science
  • Email was only sent to certain content creators, Game Science only a handful of reviewers their own documents with their own brand visual identity.

Surprisingly, no.

It's legit.

But only (some) content creators got this, not reviewers.

Oh, was hoping it was 😞. Best when games don't have to deal with drama.

Thanks for the clarification on events in any case.

People started getting banned on Era over this

I’ll admit I’m a member there and I browser there daily. But I feel like I’m walking on egg shells there. And often times the band are just ridiculous. SMH 🤦‍♂️

Anyways I’m not totally surprised by this. But people should say what they want and definitely not follow those guidelines. 😂

The irony of banning people for wrong-think on a topic related to China.

I mean I am personally pissed when a review/impression of a game doesn't take a break to talk about the tragedy of the sinking of the Titanic, or Prohibition, or the intricacies of sales tax in different countries.

Who the fuck just wants to hear about the gameplay!? Fucking tourists, I tell you.

More reviews/impressions need to stop talking about the game and start talking about whatever other thing they have in mind. Mix it up. Let us know about proper gardening techniques or where are some good restaurants in your region.

Yet they never run out of people to ban. I can't imagine being in a position where I have to tow the line or be banned. That's Era in a nutshell - a place where saying that you're going to buy a game is "downplaying concerns over misogyny". The fact that a place like that is active says a lot about the times we live in.
WE MUST FIGHT BACK

I prefer to simply not interact with that kind of mindset. Life's too short to deal with bullshit like that.
