Black Myth Wukong fans salty on twitter after Astro Bot won GOTY

Sad...

Astro deserved the win. The only criticism I've heard of the game is the length, but BMW it seems like the gameplay/combat is shallow?

I'm sure they'll make a sequel that will be much better.

Facial animations are clearly Naughty Dog...god damn my Pro will fly running this game i think.

No lie I don't take the actual awards themselves very seriously but I was getting wound up thinking a dlc could win it.

With that being said. Astrobot winning is not right . Not saying it's not a great game because it really is. But from a technical standpoint point it's a joke compared to wukong and the others
its not always about graphics or technical prowess. if the game is fun, it should win.
this is the game awards, not the graphics/optimization awards

I really enjoyed AB, so I'm pleased for the team, but my GOTY was FF7:R. I haven't played BMW, so I can't really comment on that.

I'm hoping that the voters knew Erdtree being in contention was horseshit, and that's why it won nothing.

Astrobot isn't the most exciting game, but it is a well-made, long overdue platformer that the whole family can play. Although I question why young people would care about a game that is almost entirely reliant on PlayStation nostalgia.

Not that I think technical prowess should determine winning GOTY awards or not, but Astro Bot strikes me as a technical marvel. Immaculate image quality, a rock-solid framerate, lots of insane effects (especially water, snow, and particles), and whatever you call having ludicrous numbers of interactive objects on the screen at once.

100% agree. In a less obvious sort of way it actually feels like one of the more "next gen" games I've played thus far.

Whoever wins best game direction wins GOTY innit?

Not always, Alan Wake won it last year.

I thought it was BMW cars lol

BMW car owners are usually just as salty, so it works too :messenger_winking:

Besides, GOTY means absolutely nothing to me personally, just like the Oscars. It's an event that generates a lot of traffic on gaming websites and social media and i don't give a shit about that.

I don't see any reason for drama.

I'm getting a vibe Intergalatcic is about a rebellious monk who has had enough about training in temples. First taste of ultimate freedom is jumping into a spaceship to fly away while drinking a giant Pepsi from space station's 7-11.

Come to think of it, it would make the game MUCH more interesting imo.

With people loving to complain about main characters and stuff, how is this game popular? You play as a literal monkey, or am I missing something here?
lol right, where's the incel outrage on this one "This Monkey doesn't have big naturals, WOKE!"

Honestly think this is made into a way wayyyy bigger deal than it is. Out of the like what 30 million players of Wukong. I doubt even 1% of them care about who won goty. 99% of the players won't let whatever journalist picks affect their way of thinking. This is probably some less than 1% that seems effected by it. Not even into either Astro Bot or Wukong since both of them aren't in my top 5 but both seems good.

As someone who finished wukong. The first battle in the game is probably the best battle outside of maybe the last battle.

And it was such a disappointment that you didn't fight him again.

still, happy that Astrobot won anyway because this might give Sony the fuel to explore more and not stick to horizon crap
Technical standpoint? Honestly asking. Can you elaborate? If I'm not mistaken other than Metaphor this might have been one the only games that didn't need constant updates and fixes and utilized its systems power.

I fail to see what would have changed if it did win. Different people will have different opinions, why does someone else's GOTY matter?

Astrobot was a fresh breathe of air much needed with all the GAAS Online shite being pumped out. It was a throwback to the classic platformers that always made Playstation a special place to play. A small dedicated team worked hard to bring such a unique game and it has been a massive success. More games like this are needed and it winning is a prime example of that.

If only the Chinese could whine at their government about the genociding as much as they do about the little blue robot beating their monkey on the plastic box that goes bing.

I was speaking graphically more than anything . To me wukong combined an amazing and epic battle boss fights / gameplay along with state of the art graphics to the point even a 4090 is struggling .

Astrobot is an amazing platformer and so much fun too. But it lacked in the graphics department . Not saying it's ugly but it's not wukong either.

To me a game of the year should combine everything. Fun gameplay with good visual and sound .
Not saying Astrobot is lacking but in terms of overall package ? Yeah wukong is more compelling ( to me at least ) .

Lol why are they upset? At least their game got acknowledged. How do they think the Stellar Blade and Space Marine fans feel where both titles clearly got snubbed? No matter what game wins, someone will be upset over it. There's no avoiding it unfortunately.

I agree. Even something like Silent Hill 2 got nominated for 5 awards and won nothing.
