See the film for yourself and make your own decision on how you feel about it. Don't try to decide how you're gonna feel about the film based on a percentage on a website before you've actually seen it. That's silly.
I haven't booked yet, I'm not even sure which members of my family will want to go with me, and if booking will be necessary given that I'm very flexible about time of day.
Most of us have critics whose opinions we respect, particularly because we've found them to be good guides to other films. This is when I consult the likes of Peter Bradshaw and Mark Kermode, for instance. The latter is particularly helpful to me because he delivers his opinions on camera in dialogue with a non-specialist interlocutor rather than in a polished essay.
Even with critics you respect and trust and often line up with your opinion, its best not to assume. Like I have my favorites like Walter Chaw and Kermode, but theyre expectation setters for going into a movie, not deciding how Ill feel about a movieMost of us have critics whose opinions we respect, particularly because we've found them to be good guides to other films. You're being hyperbolic. There's quite a bit of difference between 'somewhat disappointed' and 'freaking out'. There's nothing wrong at being disappointed with news, especially if it's summised with the same principles you've been touting about not getting overlyhyped and maintaining some perspective. No, I'm absolutely with you. I'm the same way. I'm simply responding to the idea that there's any cause for concern or that anything has changed. A few posters on the last page were freaking out that the movie might not be a "masterpiece" and just be "very good" which is kind of silly.

Blade Runner 2049 |OT| Do Androids Dream of Electric Boogaloo?
Gizmodo just published a story that spoils something from the movie in the fuckin title!
I got the alert randomly on my phone because of Google alerts. I don't even visit gizmodo. Fuck.
That movie was fantasticJust watched Sicario, god damn that was good. I was excited for this before, now I can't wait!
If this movie is suppose to be a visual masterpiece than this will be a no brainer purchase.
There's gonna be an art book releasing Friday.

Nobody tells you about that part, when you tell them youre about to watch Blade Runner for the first time. They tell you about all the different versions, and they tell you about the ambiguity of the ending, and they tell you about the fact that all the effects are practical effects. But nobody tells you about the part where a cop aims a loaded firearm into a crowd of people and tries to decide whether its worth risking their lives in order to murder an escaped slave.
So how good or bad are we expecting this to do at the box office? You think the great reviews will help it?
Based on some of the good and bad reviews for it, I think it will have a good opening weekend and then fall off a massive cliff in the next. If it's as "boring" as some of these reviews say it is, that and its 2 and a half hour running time won't make a lasting impression.
Prisoners > Sicario > Arrival > Enemy for me, but I've enjoyed them all to different extents. Still need to check out Incendies.
Uh what the fuck. This has a big spoiler since it features a certain character appearing from the previous film we haven't seen yet.
You mean Gaff?
The word "spoiler" seems to be infinitely expandable. Now cast members and characters who were officially announced months ago are called spoilers. Even trailers are called spoilers.

Agreed. In the third act its revealed that everyone left alive on earth is a replicant
(not a real spoiler)
Agreed. In the third act its revealed that everyone left alive on earth is a replicant (not a real spoiler) would be a spoiler. A cameo that was reported on months in advance AND is featured in the marketing: not a fucking spoiler.
This is an excellent read, and really illustrates how science fiction can so often be a prescient mirror of societal issues.I've got some required reading for anyone checking out the original for the first time this week, or just any fans of the original film. Really fucking excellent piece.
This Future Looks Familiar: Watching Blade Runner in 2017

Ugh the imax screening for this is 3d only at my place.
Deakins says the film was designed for widescreen without 3D in mind, so I think unless you REALLY want the IMAX screen/sound, there's little point in doing that anyway. I'm watching it in the biggest screen here with Atmos. Fuck IMAX 3D conversions.
