Bloodborne gameplay : The first 18 minutes

Bloody hell.

Downgrade this and downgrade that.

Where's your proof?

Every fucking thread these days urgh.
Ask misterxmedia and Crapgamer on twitter.
I'm sure they will "create" some comparison pics that fit their agenda.
We have these "concern posts" for every big game lately.

I won´t comment on the graphics because I watched it on my phone, so the tiny screen won´t do them any justice.

The level design looks great so far, it seems like there are a lot of different paths to take and that they are all interconnected. This is one of the things I loved more from DS, having to find your way, get deeper and deeper into the world and suddenly unlocking a shortcut that connects everything and gives sense to all the world.

The setting looks great too, the atmosphere is fantastic.

Combat: I don´t know if maybe they are using a beefed up character for the demo, but he seems to be able to kill enemies too easily. Most of the times he´s just walking straight up to them and attacking to kill them with a 2 hit combo before they can do anything. I really am not seeing that tension in 1VS1 combat you felt in DS even against the simplest mobs. I didn´t like how the enemies are placed in groups, it´s reminding me of the horrible enemy placement in DS2 and how they tried to create difficulty just by throwing a bunch of enemies at you at the same time, but this may only be an impression. I have also noticed that sometimes the player starts a fight against an enemy and the rest which are near enough don´t acknowledge this and just keep their positions. The roll/sidestep/evading move is faster and covers much more ground than in DS, but apart from that I haven´t found any meaningful differences in the combat mechanics. The shotgun seems a bit overpowered, I hope they rebalance it, maybe by making it difficult to get ammo for it so you have to limit yourself on using it. I´m afraid that by speeding up combat they may be simplifying it too much and end up with a watered down DMC-like combat system.

Overall it´s looking great, but I have some doubts about how the combat will develop.

That's all I see, nowadays. Critics' favorite buzzwords. Downgrade, Resolution, AA. I miss the days where it was all fuggin pixels.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy scrutinising games regarding its techinal aspects but driveby concern trolls drive me up the wall.

Their tiny and idiotic brains only allow them rationalize up to that extent. Unfortunately it's an often sight.

Until proper comparisons I will refrain myself to think about graphics. And hell if you play a Souls game for graphics then you are in for the wrong cause. Surely will be the same with BB

No worries, going by the alpha, the game is definitely still hard. Probably harder than DkS2. Not sure what makes you think the shotgun is overpowered, though? It does tiny, tiny damage when used normally, it's only real function is to parry attacking enemies. Which would make it a limited parry, in a way.

The issue with the mobs in DS2, I feel, is that thet were not only lazy but you weren't given adequate crowd control measures to deal with them - the combat was still very much suited for 1v1 fights. In the alpha, while there were still mobs of enemies, you were given more adequate means of dealing with them. You could draw enemies away from a crowd using Pebbles, and the transforming weapons meant that it was easier to attack multiple enemies at once.

Not to mention the character casts no shadow in the final build. From, you lost another customer. This is embarrassing.
First Sucker Punch, now this. What is Sony doing? Should Yoshida be worried come next investor meeting?

I hope you're being facetious because I can see his shadow on the left side.

The day/night cycle is a clear explanation for the supposed change in lighting. The detail level looks exactly the same to me.

Shame about that level of shimmering though.

It is casting shadows, just in a different location since the light in the scene has changed.

Also, did InFamous SS get downgraded? I dont remember that.

What the hell is that shimmering? I don't get it, why waste all that time and effort into art and graphical effects when it all ends up looking like crap due to poor IQ. Lighting looks flatter than previously.

Clearly the light sources are different on each picture. His shadow is on the left side on the bottom picture, more light so less visible, His back barely shows any light so how you want his shadow to be on the same position as the top picture? You can even notice that on the bright spots on the floor his shadow fades. I assume cause of the lantern.

If joking then forget about this post.

Probably another word for the lack of anti-aliasing.

The shadow is on the left side. Infamous: Second Son had no downgrade at all from what i can remember, only improvements. And do you seriously think that the disappearance of a shadow in a Japanese video game make any difference in a investor meeting.

This forum would actually be readable if the ignore function could automatically ignore posts that include certain worlds like ''downgrade'' or ''the last guardian'' or ''fps'' etc, etc...

But anyway play safe, kids.

Same guy was just complaining about concerned trolls earlier in the thread.

HOOOOOO boy. We are going into the loony bin right now. This is more of a reason to not return here than the actual spoilers.
Goodbye fellas.
Give the guy some credit :lol
The investor meeting bit should have been a dead giveaway lol

Sorry but I'm in a little bit of a bad mood right now. I hope I didn't offend him even though I never made any definitive accusations.

Hehe well played. A little too on the nose I think, but people are so heated in here they fell for it all the same!

It's pretty weird seeing previous Bloodborne threads cap out at 10 - 15 pages, but this one is pushing for 50. At least half of it is emptying the remainder of DS2 salt shakers, people talking about anti-Sony agenda's and graphics horses up the wazoo. But still, good to see the game getting some attention!

Didn't resist and watched it. Still not sure how I feel about another hub world, but we'll see when it comes out. The actualy hub is great, but I'm not so fond of the teleport based structure of Demon's.

At least the loadings won't take forever this time, so that's something, I guess.

The actual level is pretty great though, very satisfied with this video and the alpha. Can't wait for it to come out.

That shortcut you uncover by breaking some barrels and then just falling is the kind of thing I love, a lot more than unlocking gates from the other side. I hope there are some hard jumps to skip large portions of the levels too.

I need this right now. I hope it doesn't get delayed again >_<

Great! I can't wait. The hunt is on
for fashionable accessories.

Fashionborne already sounds great.

Any info about localization? Spanish IGN said that contacted From and the game will have voices and text in spanish... and I think that maybe they're smoking something...

If the game comes out March 24, 2015, this aint an early build.

Not necessarily. When giving a build to someone (especially when you actually let them play it) you usually create a separate branch and iron out all quirks. Then you have a clean, but really old build that goes out versus your actual Main Branch build that will end up as the final product.

I have no idea how FROM works, but you could end up with some major differences like: AA or lack of it, texture resolution, lighting systems working differently, time of day, etc. Given that IGN had some time with it, I'm guessing it's at least three weeks branched out, maybe more.

3 weeks in the final months before Gold Master is really a lot, especially when you're talking about certain effects such as AA.

I feel like I've seen you ask this 3 times already. As for localized dubs, I don't think I've ever heard of it.

Fashionborne is what I will do. Doubt I will love my BB character more than my DS1 one, but hell if I won't at least try!

God I'm so pumped to go in completely blind.

Unless they took it out for this build doesn't seem like there is much of there usual tutorialising, having messages tell you the controls I mean. I wonder if there will be an asylum/things betwixt equivalent and this is the first 18 minutes after that. I know this is From but cleric beast looks pretty kinda for a first boss.
