Anyone willing to help me at Vicar?

Cathedral Ward seems borked for coop, at least for me. First time I went through the area I couldn't use the Beckoning Bell at all. Then I got wrecked by the boss and as I got closer to the boss a second time, suddenly it allowed me to use it, but I've been standing around the fog boss gate for a good 15 minutes now and no sign of anyone.

This article seems to agree - http://www.vg247.com/2015/03/25/bloodborne-cant-summon-vicar-amelia-bell-greyed-out/

PVP is stupid in this game, IMO. I've done some invasions/getting invaded in the frontier -- and while I'm proud to be 7-0 so far, the fights just weren't fun. healing is so fast, dashing and running are so fast, it's really impossible to stop people from running away and healing. if you actually have a numbing mist (which aren't easy to get, so you can't figure them into your standard pvp setup) and manage to land it, they can easily enough just bolt away.

every pvp fight is just a war of attrition to see who runs out of heals/gets bored first. you hvae to burn through 8 health bars to win.

and since you don't even spawn with potions like with estus in dark souls, if you want to keep pvping you need to go through 4 loading screens to farm and come back.

All of this would be one thing, but it's compounded by the lack of builds and items in the game. every character is essentially the same, being that there are no spells or miracles and very few weapons and no armor or poise. there's no builds to try out and try against other people. everyone's basically the same.

Exactly my experience, and I haven't lost a fight either.

I hope they patch potions out of PVP, or limit them to two.

Something screwy with my Internet connections I guess because I can't summon anyone to my game however, I decided to brave the fight and killed Father G on my own! Praise the Moon!

Question: When you sneak up behind enemies and do the strong R2 stun + R1 visceral attack, does that not work on all enemies? I've found some that I've successfully done the R2 stun on, but the R1 just does a normal attack regardless when I am standing absolutely still.

Ding ding ding

If you go through where the door was broken you come to a spiral staircase. Go up there and you'll eventually get to a gate to open. This lets you from the lantern sprint to the right and fall off and drop down to where this is.

It's pretty easy to overlook but really helpful.

Thanks guys! I'm having trouble with the third phase of this boss. Should I just use molatovs to burn him down?

Jury is still out, butbif we are talking oure Gameplay and Wold Design.

BB > DkS > DeS > DS2

But for multiplayer, probably the most important aspect for me.

DS2 > DkS > DeS > BB

I need to put in more time, but moving from Soapstone to Bells is so far a huge regression in game design imo.
Yeah, I hope they patch this shit. Even taking the mood and environment of the games, I honestly see no reason why you can't just send out some messengers saying you want to help people, and then someone can accept it. Seems like a bad system.

Is
Vicar Emilia
the proper 4th boss? Way stronger than everything before, and it felt like I had to be stronger to fight her, or at least have better weapons to
deal with her healing
. Not to mention, after finally beating her, the next boss(
after the forest
) was a breeze, destroyed it from the first try and I was never in danger during the whole fight!

OMG I accidentally ran into
Father G
and fucking died, lost 4000 blood echoes I was farming. I haven't felt true fear until I saw a cutscene unprepared and knew I would die.

Right at the start... Hard to fight while having to constantly move because of the Gatling gun prick

Right when you get across that initial bridge, look for a drop off, to the right. Patrol through that area, eventually you will be relatively close to the ladder where he is. Climb and..be a middle linebacker once you're up there.

Do you reliably get enough blood shards to upgrade 2-3 weapons? I'm only level 24 at the minute, and I have a +3 axe with 36 blood stone shards which is enough to upgrade another 2 weps, but I'm not sure if that will continue.

I haven't done much PvP yet, saving it for later, but Coop suffers the same issue. You burn through vials and then have to farm or force load screens. Gone are the days of camping in front of a fun boss and Sunbro'ing all day. It is self limiting by design. Don't know if that was intentional, but I find it a step back from previous games.

They have introduced quality-of-life problems that were already solved in earlier games. Such a head scratcher.

Anyone else feel like playing for too long makes you play worse?

If you're stuck in a boss, it absolutely does. Walking away for awhile does wonders.

Would you mind explaining exactly how it works? I tried ringing the sinister bell but got nowhere.

Couldn't tell you, for me I just ring a bell wherever I go and got takers. Basically you're either summoned to someone elses world or they get summoned to yours.

It's technically considered the third with BSB as optional.

Either the third or fourth, yeah. The curve has been kinda weird to me because I found both the 5th and 6th to be piss easy compared to what was already fought.

You won't find a lantern soon but there are many shortcuts you can open that circumvent the giant bonfire area.

Since you'll probably die while looking for them, you should be aware that you can run past all those enemies in the bonfire area and they won't follow you into the next area. Just manage your stamina and plan a good route and you can blast through there. It's definitely a slog when your character is weak.
Ugh I like the challenge but I'm not a fan if redoing giant areas. I'm well past that area and still no lantern. I'm going to wake the house up when I finally die.

Two questions:

1) Is there another bonfire besides in the church before BSB?

2) When you die helping other people, does it send you back to the last bonfire or your last position?

Please and thank you.

Yeah, I watched a few streamers do some PvP action, and just noticed how boring it is as well. Though I'm loving the game so far, I really do dislike the lack of builds. I loved invasions/invading in DkS2, but don't think I'll be doing much PvP here. I'll stick to main game/normal co-op.

Finally beat Cleric Beast. Sheesh. Actually it only took 2 tries, but I had been fucking around with the werewolf guy for ages before giving up and trying Cleric.

Two hours in and I'm already about ready to give up until they patch the load times. They'd be bad in any game, but when you have to sit through them every time you die, in a game that likes to kill you a lot... that's some serious bullshit.
