I'm thinking about picking this up since a local store has it on sale this Friday for $39CND...I've put it off long enough...
SuperPac said:OK I think I'm stuck. I'm just past Pachess Town.Where should I go next? The village elder told me where I'm supposed to go next... but does he mean I'm supposed to go to that four-leggend robot doing circles in the middle of nowhere? I got on that ship, got all the way to the end of the second floor where there are barriers up... I disabled the first two no problem but can't disable the third one.
SuperPac said:OK, question about the end of Disc 2.There are three secret achievements I suspect are all in a row, right? Kluke choking, Shu's Shadow, and the Squashtrich escape. Those would all, I'd assume, logically fall right at the end of disc 2.
Also, anyoneSeems to me that would be a hard one to get. I have a save right there, dunno if I wanna go back and try for that...do the Moon Laser perfect?
Masta_Killah said:Also, I noticed early on that the game had soo many moons. I think I counted 3 moons on the first disk(the night before the wagon escort). Then, during the nite scene at Pachess Town, I saw that there was 7 or so moons. I thought it was strange to have that many moons and that it was some kind of mistake by the devs. No way did they put in 7 moons, that's just overkill! But after completing the quest, I was pleasantly surprised. Also, anyone read the books scattered throughout the game? Seems like the stories parallels the main story, especially the wizard and robot story. Maybe its the backstory/clues to Nene and the past. Anyways, the story seems to be slowly unraveling and it does seem like its getting better. The game seems to require you to think and check out your environments/surroundings for clues into the story of the game. Not a necessity, but it seems to reward you if you pay close attention. Can't wait to find out who that voice was from the beginning of the game.

Its gonna kill me trying to get the achievement for.beating the first Mechat shooting level perfectly
Masta_Killah said:There's a save point right before the mechat part. I haven't gotten the achievement yet, but I left the save so that I could do it later. It's actually pretty easy. Nene attacks in the (rough idea) front first, then the back, then the sides, and finally the front(I finished him off here). Only reason why I got hit was because I wasn't used to the controls. Basically, attack his missiles with your gunner, and Lock on all your missiles unto his aircraft. You should take him down pretty easily.

Can anyone explain what is supposed to happen at the end of the demo (the fortress level) ? I don't beat Nene, nor do I run out of time, but the game announces that I'm done.
Speaking about the demo, I have to say that I don't share the point of view that it is a bad demo. I liked the fact that the tree boss in the forest level is just a little too hard to be beaten by spamming attacks and heals and it takes a little tuning of your party to be sure to take him down. Very good way to let people tinker with the battle system, which I think was the true purpose of this demo.
Masta_Killah said:From what others have said about, the demo takes place in the late 2nd/3rd disk. Im not there yet, but there's no point in finding out what happens since you have no backstory to go by. And unless you grind all your shadows to max, you wont have skills like what was shown on the demo[at that point in the game]. Also, if you want a challenge, make sure to dl the dlc through an Asian or Japanese account. The game is pretty easy if your a seasoned jrpg vet.
sankao said:Well, I finished secret of mana (action rpg), played some hours of chrono trigger (don't remember why I stopped, I liked the trial), and tried to play FFVI (fell asleep, sorry). I'm hardly a seasoned jrpg vet. More like a total jrpg rookie actually.
JeStaH said:I'm almost done with the main story.. I LOVE this game and this is coming from a relative RPG newb..
I'm at the point where..
I beat Nene, Zola won't fight me and now I'm fighting Destory but have died a couple of times...I think this is the last battle isn't it? Or is there one more plot twist afterwards? Just tell me there is more to come without telling me what happens.
I died a couple of times and on my third retry I decided that I didn't want to finish the game just yet. I just don't want it to end just yet, I'm enjoying the journey too much and am not ready for the destination!
I decided that I wanted to finish all the side quests first. Is that a mistake? I know the longer I put it off the more inviincible my party will become but I dont' really care about that. I'm actually enjoying leveling up my characters. The class system is great and love the strategy invovled in the party formation and battle tactics.
Should I finish the main story first? Do I get some special prize that will help me in completing all the side quests?
Also from reading the manual depending on the class you stop getting new skills at certain ranks so when I get to that point I will switch to a new class to try and get all the skills and so on. Is there a benefit to go beyond that class rank? How does your level affect your classes? Is level only for your physical attacks?
Normally I get bored so easily with RPGs but for some reason I can't stop playing this game. This game makes me want to try out other RPG's to see what I've been missing.
Unfortunately I've never owned a PS2 which I guess has the best ones. When I do get my PS3 at some point in the future I'll definately check out games like DQVIII etc..
Until then I'm looking forward to Eternal Sonata, Lost Oddessy and Mass Effect! I also want to retry Oblivion again. I tried playing that and got bored after few hours. :lol

Also the benefit of going beyond the class rank where you get new skills is the stat increase. You still get stat increases for each rank according to the job.

I'd just got started in disk 2 last night, when i managed to trip over the play & charge cable and completely scratch up my disk. So now entering certain areas provokes a DRE. First one i hit was the main hall in Lago Village, but i managed to coax that one back to life with some DIY disk polishing (aka attacking it with toothpaste). Unfortunately, playing a bit more has revealed that Jibral Castle is now nothing but one big DRE, and even after a ton of polishing I can't seem to fix it
On the upside, my disk now smells minty-fresh.
I'm in the UK, so Wal-Mart isn't an option. Tried boiling now, didn't make any difference. Going to see if the DVD rental place around the corner can do disc repairs tomorrow, if not i'm pretty fuckedFTWer said:If the toothpaste method didn't work, try the boiling method. Dip the disc in boiling water for about 15 seconds & let it dry.
All else fails, rebuy it at Wal-Mart & return the scratched one back to them.

Bebpo said:So now that everyone's bought the game and played it for themselves, can we agree the BD demo MS put up is one of MS's biggest mistakes ever in the gaming realm?
Look at the ES thread, still so many people going "Yeah, BD demo was terrible so I'll never buy the full game". I swear MS killed their sales with that demo.
soco said:agreed. i dunno why they don't throw up another demo up there and just take the opening part of the game. who cares if it's 2GB if it gives people a better idea of the game? it certainly couldn't hurt sales at this point.

FTWer said:Is the framerate in battles really that bad in the final game?
FTWer said:speaking of which, I just played the demo yesterday.
Is the framerate in battles really that bad in the final game?
It got to the point that game was almost in constant slow-motion with some of the shadow attacks.
aries_71 said:I keep hearing people complaining about the framerate on the battles, and I have to say that I'm not yet experiencing that on my 360 (which is is two month old). The only framerate drop I have detected is when on exploration mode in the map world, but is more of a stutter than a drop.
What's going on here? I mean, I'm a framerate whore, and I can perceive the slightest drop, but I also don't believe that so many people are wrong about their perception. Something to do with hard disk fragmentation? With full caches? System overheating?
A better demo would have at least doubled those numbers.u_neek said:First US numbers are in! 53k for three days on the shelves..
Nice, I had missed that!Keyser Soze said:I just finished the game!Did anyone else turn around before entering the final house to end the game and walk off in the other direction instead? I did and I ended up finding Toripo hiding behind a tree. When you talk to him he starts asking you did you enjoy the game and if you think the developers did a good job and then he starts going on about how hard he thought the developers worked! I thought it was a nice touch to put something like that there!
Sorry if this is well known, I have not read any of the blackned spoilers so I just though I would share.
And he's supposed to be 16? Gay confirmed :lolGizmo_Monkey said:wow so Shu is gay...he said so in the cutscene at panchess town. He said he had no interest in girls and doesnt like them. Thats really cool! First Makoto and now this. Well done MS

ZeroEdge said:I was totally disappointed with the demo it pretty much crushed the joy I had for the game. Then seeing the reviews from most online sites (1up, IGN, etc) being so meh I wrote the game off. Well that was a big mistake I picked up a copy the other day at Zellers ($39 for the win) and even though I'm only about 4 hours in I must say it's pretty fucking awesome so far and I'm very glad I picked up a copy (especially since the sale ended today)
I tried to make a japanese account and download some free stuff . I have finished the game, but I see no new game + option, how do I activate the extra stuff?Masta_Killah said:Also, if you want a challenge, make sure to dl the dlc through an Asian or Japanese account.
