Borderlands 4 is now available for pre-order, publisher 2K and developer Gearbox Software announced. It will be available in $69.99 standard, $99.99 Deluxe, and $129.99 Super Deluxe editions.

Pre-orders for any edition of the game will include the "Gilded Glory Pack," which includes one Vault Hunter Skin, one Weapon Skin, and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin.

2K and Gearbox Software also announced plans to support Borderlands 4 with a "robust roadmap" of free and paid post-launch content rolling out following the game's launch. This includes the downloadable content featured in the Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions. Full details will be announced at a later date.

Here is an overview of each edition, via 2K:

  • Standard Edition ($69.99) – Includes the base game.
  • Deluxe Edition ($99.99) – The Deluxe Edition will feature a variety of bonus items. This edition includes the "Bounty Pack Bundle," featuring four separate post-launch downloadable content packs, each with distinct areas, new missions, and unique bosses; four Vault Cards with unique challenges and rewards; new gear and weapons; four new vehicles, and Vault Hunter cosmetics; and the Firehawk's Fury Weapon Skin.
  • Super Deluxe Edition ($129.99) – The Super Deluxe Edition will include all bonus digital content from the Deluxe Edition. This edition also includes the "Vault Hunter Pack," featuring two new Story Packs, each featuring a new Vault Hunter, story, and side missions; two new map regions; new gear and weapons; more Vault Hunter cosmetics; and new ECHO-4 cosmetics. Additionally, it offers the Ornate Order Pack with four Vault Hunter Skins, four Vault Hunter Heads, and four Vault Hunter Bodies.

Borderlands 3 is 3eu on Steam. The Super Deluxe edition is like 10eu on the grey market or 16eu on Steam. Imagine paying anything MORE than that for these types of games when you can nab 'em on the cheap not too long after launch.

70 is still too much money for a videogame, especially when we consider that we don't even get the game, just a temporary license to play it.

Being a real fan, I'll be holding off until the price is increased to 80 which is what the game deserves. Until then, no sale from me.

do you...... really consider deep sales on a game that's almost 6 years old "not too long after launch"?

They have lost their fucken minds here in Canada. $173 for the super deluxe edition and with tax thats just under $200. Suck my dick.

I wonder if the backlash to Randy's comments caused 2K to charge $70 and whether Randy accidentally did us a solid, because the original plan may have been $80

Alright, I'm in. Love a borderlands break every few years. Truth is the best part about the game has always been the World of Warcraft like skill trees for each character.

Something about working that little skill tree is fun as shit to me.

I also like the vending machines and upgrading guns between missions. Good stuff. The humor fell off a lot in 3 because I think they replaced claptrap and the writing got fearful so they jokes got worse, but the basic mechanics of the game are still fun.

Remember the fanboys vs haters thread and look at the comment you are writing here and tell me if fans or haters are worse.

I'm going to be a super deluxe fan and wait for it to be like $15 or on Ps+ or free on the Epic games store.

They saw the backlash over Randy Bitchford's comments and had to backtrack that planned $80 tag.
they'll more than make up for it with the sales of $100 and $130 editions

fwiw, game industry over the last decade has learned to milk their customers that are price agnostic. this is why we have:

  • sales of 20+% off usually within 60 days
  • deluxe editions that charge $20 or more (which is like 25% of the base cost for the entire game) for "digital art book & soundtrack".
  • paid early/advanced/headstart access
  • tiered editions (usually 3) where the top tier is at least 60% more than the base cost of the game
these are not unique things to Gearbox/2K

for every "$70 is too much for any video game" person, there's probably 2 that will gobble up an $80+ version to play 3 days early

This was a year after launch. So yeah these games are cheap as piss if you wait a bit. Not only do you get it cheaper but you get it with less bugs, more QoL updates and more new content.

The Borderlands franchise is a prime example of a series you definitely do not need to play at launch. Unless you suffer from severe FOMO of course.

Oh you ain't wrong. I'll do what I did for BL3: wait a few years for the "complete version" to go on sale for $20-30.
