Borderlands 4 delayed indefinitely on Nintendo Switch 2, statement released

Look at what they achieved with DK Bananza on "cheap" hardware. GAF will try to deny and downplay it because it isn't some flashy photoreal tech demo pseudo-game, but the entirely destructible environments are more impressive and difficult to develop than anything that has come from the other guys this gen.
You're right. Nintendo's biggest problem with the Switch and now Switch 2 is 3rd party developer support. That and the fact that no one wants to make Nintendo exclusives anymore, and they're all porting games to it.

yea i heard there is this game called borderlands 4 that just came out and is a real piece of shit that people are pissed about

I mean in terms of performance and optimisation on Switch, maybe it wasn't up to par. Piece of shit, not the premium quality of the title itself.

Here is the thing who the hell buys Switch 2 to play first person western game like Borderlands? Most people buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games and the people who are interested in AAA western games then they already own PS5, Xbox or PC.

There's that and also they even have From developing the console exclusive Duskbloods for SW2. This is what is going to move units, not fucking Borderlands lol.

... we had destructible environments on the OG Xbox and PS2. While I'll always applaud Nintendo's continual focus on new, interesting, or simply different game design, their tech has been generations behind for a long time. Their hardware simply isn't up to par, despite it's price tag, because Nintendo found success in selling old NVidia hardware at a premium and laughing to bank. And so here we are again: third parties try to play nice, but Nintendo's hardware is simply too far behind.

Exactly! Most important 3rd party games like Dragon Quest still releasing on Switch 2.

This is the type of 3rd party Nintendo needs, not a fucking western game.

Well the switch 2 is pretty much an underpowered ps4 in handheld mode. It's struggling on the big boy consoles so it'll be tough on the switch 2. I applaud gearbox for this tbf. A lot of developers in the past have released subpar versions, taken consumers money and never fixed it.

The game should have been delayed across all platforms, it was blatantly not ready for release on PS5/Xbox/PC
Speak for yourself, the game runs acceptably well on the PS5. Would it have been better with more polish and an FoV slider, yes? Does that take away from the fun I am having with the game, not really. It does not crash and the only thing that bothers me is the low res reflections (which would be a thing even if the dev time was extended by a year due to RDNA1.5/2's poor RT capability).

Agree with you…😂

What? I have to restart the game every 40 minutes … That's not acceptable at all.

Exactly. I'm guessing in 2 years, we're going to start seeing a significant drop in 3rd party ports to Switch 2 like we did with Switch.

To me more important ones are Japanese 3rd party games like Trails of the Sky, Dragon Quest and Fantasy Life....not COD or Borderlands, you are not buying Switch for those games.

I started the game on the PS5 last night. I have it already back in the sleeve on its way back to GameFly. Switch 2 only owners aren't missing out on a thing.

Acceptable is a subjective term, there are more than enough save points and the game loads fast enough on the PS5 that this is not an issue to me. I can see how it can be an issue to some, it would be great if Sony had the same refund process as Steam.

This, Star Wars Outlaws, EA FC26 and Madden being 30fps. Western AAA third party support so far has mostly been crap as usual. We'll see if that changes in it's second year.

Even cyberpunk which is probably the best example of actually putting effort in tanks to 20fps in the dlc areas.

I am not buying those Japanese 3rd party games on the Switch 2 either, Steam Deck all the way for its superior ergonomics and cheaper regional game prices. S2 is pretty much just a first party and family game night machine (MKW, Smash and Mario Party).

You are not but other people are, I bet you anything those games will sell more on Switch 2 than Steam Deck.

You have no idea how Outlaws runs on Switch 2, don't you ?

The difference between the PS4 > PS5 > PS5 Pro isn't particularly great, so this doesn't mean much, frankly.

Which is why Nintendo cheaped out on it, using years-old hardware with modern tweaks to keep third parties happy... which they're not.
Can you point out the part developers said Switch 2 isn't strong enough? You linked a paid article that says Switch 2 failed to ease developer's concerns about the direction of the industry despite its sales boom. They talk about why Switch 2 is not assuaging their worries, but those worries come from the entire game business.

But all the over the shoulder footage from Gamescom assured us it would be a fine 30fps port?!

Without digging too deep, but there should be a rich harvest of haha's in this thread.
