It's odd. I've seen a few videos on YouTube stating that the game holds a steady(ish) 60fps. I can only assume they have remained in quiet areas at the very beginning of the game. As soon as there's more than three or four mobs on screen, it drops noticeably.
But even worse are the graphical compromises. It's genuinely uncomfortable on the eyes. The draw distance is fine but the texture pop and asset loads are really, *really* bad. Once you are inside a building, it's ok.
And all this for a game that looks almost exactly the same as BL3. The performance should not be this bad.
I'm still having a lot of fun. The game is good. But the performance on PS5 has been overlooked by reviewers.
Lord knows what it will look like on Switch 2.

Ps5 Pro and quality mode here. I just got to the open world section. I second the slow texture loading. Pop in isn't that noticeable to me. U can't really shoot for shit at that framerate tho.

if you want a good game overall i recommend Borderlands 2, combat is kind dated, but its the best one of all games, has good balance and have amazing end game content.
Borderlands 3 on the other hand has amazing gameplay, but everything else is mediocre at best and the story/villains are insufferable

the loot in Borderlands 3 is in over abundance breaking the balance of the game, but the worse sin of the game is the character, villains and story, its really bad imo, the only thing that holds this game together is the gameplay.
i ll tell you this, if you have a hard shell for cringeness, can handle annoying characters/enemies yelling for 40 hours in a row, have a taste for bad jokes and there is the TikTok villains, they are the cherry on top, if you can handle all this you ll have a great time.

dont get me wrong, i have more than 400 hours in Borderlands 3, but i m here since the first one, like i said gameplay is waaay better than 2, BUT, 2 is the better game overall.

I like borderlands just fine. I'd say it starts off better than BL3, but it's as I mentioned tripping over itself any chance it can get.
The UI needs options for minimal or remove aspects.

yeah i saw, but that's is a optimization problem, graphically game looks like any other borderlands art direction speaking.

About 6 hours in and I can safely say the game is very, very good. A return to form, and I hope they can fix PC performance quick for those who play on it, so you all can experience this masterpiece. Borderlands is definitely back with this one. And to add, I have been playing solo so far and outside of the very beginning before you get a shield, it feels well balanced on normal difficulty. I'm so happy to play Borderlands that really good again.

Played for a total of maybe 40 minutes. I haven't run into much cringe but it's fun. It's borderlands. I haven't dug into much but have it about locked to 4k60 on a 4090 on DLSS quality.

That's the plan. Try another class. The gunplay is all good, but it feels like … a worse version of say the new Avatar game from last year. Which works fine if i can just go fast but this game slows itself down in a bad way too often.
And it's also not hitting the interesting story or visuals of say avatar, plus a more interesting crafting system.
But like you said it's borderlands. It's mindless game fodder for the masses.

The game has been stingy with the health pickups. Probly the most rare thing in the game is seeing a health pickup during a firefight.

Actually, I disagree here. I didn't much care for the series at all, but my best friend loves it so when this was coming out, I said I'd get it and we'd go through it together.
This one is much, much more enjoyable to me, if I'm honest. The storyline is better, the open world aspect is enjoyable, especially the dynamic events akin to FATEs from Final Fantasy XIV.
Also, I've always gravitated to playing a Paladin, which the other games didn't quite offer for me, but they do here.
And Amon is essentially Reinhardt and it makes the game so much more enjoyable to me.
Still some bugs and hiccups and I *really* want the motion blur toggle and FOV slider added for console. I don't feel as nauseous as I did playing the other ones, though.
For some reason this series always made me feel queasy unless FOV was maxed and no other FPS does that. Can't explain it.

I kinda wanna try the other 3 but i fear the va of the 2 chicks could be too much too handle

I'm probably gonna try all of them, if only we could skip the escape from prison so you could have the character with the basic skills already unlocked.
Rafa speciality seems to be melee and i don't know if just run and slash with the occasional spin to win is a playstyle that could keep me engaged for much long, there was a similar class in outriders and it got boring real fast, i think i prefer his dual shoulder cannon skill but in the end it could be boring as having 2 extra guns shooting for you, very turn on and forget about it type of skill, and the spear gun skill look boring af, just a big projectile basically.
The witch and gravitard have skills that are more involved i think, especially the gravitard where you try to entangle as many enemies as you can, but i'm not sure if i can handle their constant va if it is very marvelesque and quippy.

This was the reason I went with Rafa instead of one of the ladies. Although I'm pleasantly surprised so far how toned down the dialog is compared to BL3 and Wonderlands.
Harlowe does have the most interesting looking skill tree IMO. I'll probably give her a shot for my next run.

Harlowe is basicaly temu Maya.
Vex is cool, but i think ver sirens power are the worse in the franchise.
Amon could be fun If they made him more close to Brick/Krieg instead of Wonderlands gameplay.
Characters are good but i think they are kind generic this time around.
