Borderlands 4 |OT| It's about time. Literally.

Oh man, as a big fan of when guns sound powerful and with a good bass, this shit is weak as hell. Maybe later guns will have some oomph to them sound wise but the starting guns sound weak as fuck.
There are some audio options to adjust gun sounds. I've trimmed them down so I dont annoy the house as much.

Just found out to get rid of them and had to find your post again.
On PC: mark the weapons with right click and select bank. Then hold V and it'll send those fuckers away.
Holy Heck! How did I miss this? This would have been good to know back when I started. It's also good to know now! Thanks.

XSX.

Shockingly poor default control settings. Seriously, beggars belief.

New movement options are great.

Thumb sore from hitting x to open all the containers - a truly borderlands experience.

Performance is all over the place, and fairy poor in large open areas. Disappointing, otherwise this could be quite a good offering!
The default deadzone for controllers are 25%...i bet those guys never played a game with controller in their entire life. I always going into settings first in every game, but it was shocking lol

On PC anyway. I keep forgetting people have consoles and I don't know if they have any options at all.
There actually are a lot of options to reduce certain sounds so that it's better for people with Tinnitus, which is definitely not a bad thing that they added that. Sadly I don't see any setting to improve bass for guns. For some reason they sound extremely weak and tinny, this is while the big ships in the prologue did provide a strong bass.

Here is a video of me showcasing the memory leak, stuttering and lower fps after about an hour of play on PS5 Pro. I fix it by quiting out and continuing. Where can I make a support ticket at the official site? I already used the issue tracker.

So I just found out that you can open shit by punching it as well. If this was always possible in these games.....I never knew, lol. Or is this new?

Idk, i'm currently playing Borderlands 3 and i enjoy it very much, is the loot better in 4 than 3?
I mean, I don't hate 3, I just really really like 4. It is definitely different. Legendaries are super rare again, which makes me happy because my one big gripe is as that they were too common in 3. Felt like it took away the joy of finding one to me, but farming bosses is easy in 4. It feels like each gun can be good depending on build in 4 as well. If you are enjoying 3 a lot, I can assure you that you will have a great time in 4.

The world feels massive, and I really like the way it's designed. It actually reminds me a bit of Far Cry. I do wish there were more interiors to explore, but I'm still early on, so that might change. The vehicle is also a lot of fun to use. The game started off a little bland, but it's definitely growing on me now

The game really doesn't feel harder than previous games at all for now (on hard), not sure what the fuck people are doing...if anything the added mobility make things a bit easier.

I saw cohh playing it and ignoring elements and weaknesess and i wanted to scream at the screen :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Right after the prologue and in the area where Claptrap talks to you...... it just looks drab man, the green here just looks muted, like washed out. This is while the trailers had it looking super colorful and what not. When I watched a review of it it looked better too. I just might turn HDR off after all.

If anyone dont like popping and have a powerful pc there is a mod that increases the lod distances and improves a lot the look of it. Its not yet in nexus but in discord but I just uploaded it in this website for you papitos. To use it, just drop the folder in the main game folder and then when you are in the game, go to graphical settings and select higher options

man, i dont know you guys but all this grass make the game feel generic to me, i m already missing the "Mad Max" vibe of Pandora, all this green just dont feel like Borderlands.

Also, why they removed Borderlands 3 holo menu ? it was so much nicer implementation

I'm really enjoying it, just a pity about the performance.

Really, *really* poor that very few reviews called out PS5 performance.

I'm fairly sure all reviews at the launch window were done on PC.

Metacritic only populated PC reviews and consoles were TBD.

The more you play, the more fun and addicting it gets. More skills, more weapons, more loot. Everything gets better

I'm going with quality mode and SDR on Xbox, it just looks way, way better than performance mode and I got used to the 30fps pretty quickly. The fuzzy visuals especially in big areas bothers me too much in performance mode.

Damn i respecced with vex to the ball throwing build, but the game became a lot harder. Went back to my minions. That spec wrecks everything :D

Borderlands 1 is by far the hardest one in the series. If you don't know what you're doing, you will get your ass wrecked.

Unlike you, I'm glad they finally added trees, grass, and blue water! I was burnt out from all the brown in the previous games. How did you like BL3? The environments were just as diverse as in BL4.

PS5 Pro, 60fps for the first 30 minutes - then starts chugging down to sub 30fps. A restart every 30 minutes solves it. Memory leak issue most likely.
Bingo. It's memory leak for sure.

I noticed when I booted up today that it ran flawless and had very little pop in going on plus far more detail in performance mode. (Couldn't do quality the 30 fps here is bad frame pacing…)

Seems fixable if they can get it sorted out.

I'm level 16, and some of the side quests do get better in complexity of what you need to do but most of it is run of the mill fetch quests.

I think the gumplau is good but every single engagement is exactly the same even on hard mode. There is no strategy or prioritizing enemy types etc. aside from some enemies fly so you shoot up, everything is the same.

This is a PS3 game in all the worst ways mixed with Ubisoft game design in all the worst ways.

how can you do it ? i m having headache by the narrow fov of console, imagine playing this at 30 fps

This is correct i had the same issue.
a system reboot fixed it.

The level scaling is so fucking stupid

all environments in BL3 are kind "dreadful" ( dont know if that is the right word ), Pandora is a wasteland, Promethea a warzone, Eden - 6 a swamp, Nekrotofeyo a dead planet and Athena was the only planet that was more "colorful", in all those locations you can almost feel how difficult must be life in there. I like the old aesthetic of Borderlands, this new planet is supposed to be a "prison", its just too colorful and vibrant ( at least this initial area ), it doesnt fit its own theme imo.

Also what are the psychos doing in Kairos ? They could had created another faction for the ppl that went crazy by removing the "thing" from their neck, but turning them into physcho makes no sense at all ( "but they are not physcos bla bla bla" they are physcos ) and this grass is one of the worse looking grass in video game, its distract me so much.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The scenery doesn't really fit with the lore. Borderlands DLCs always have crazy-looking maps, and that's exactly how BL4 feels to me. The game feels like a beach party and I don't give a damn, I just go with the flow. That's part of the fun for me: never knowing what kind of situation you'll end up in, or what new, insane location you'll stumble across. Borderlands is all about deserts and wastelands, sure, but it's also super diverse and wild with its themes. You can tell the devs had fun messing around, designing all kinds of scenery. Borderlands has always been chaotic!

Ran across a Loot Mangler. I was just zooming around shooting all the manglers with my bike and a glowing one showed up. Just like the Diablo Loot Goblins, Harder to take down and he exploded in loot.

Bro, I don't know. At first I thought it was horrible, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I remember when the current gen systems came out and you had all these 60fps games I went back to RDR2 @30fps without any issues.

Of course I prefer 60fps over 30fps, but only if the visuals are acceptable, and I honestly don't find them that when I'm exploring the big open fields. Hell even in quality mode stuff in the distance can look soft and blurry, can only imagine how bad that is in performance mode. It doesn't help that I sit quite close to my big screen, if I sat further away I probably wouldn't notice the fuzzy ass visuals as much.

Maybe a motion blur setting for the quality mode could make it even better.

I get you too, but Kairos is supposedly a prison, but It dosent look like one, If i drop into this planet i ll think that everything is just fine, the world dosent fit the theme at all and thats is my biggest turn off.

But everything else is great, only the world building was a letdown for me.

Edit: and the menus, why they did what they did is beyond me, Borderlands 3 menus were almost perfect, this one is awfull.

Maybe the holo menu was hitting performance too hard? Not sure ... it's already pretty sketchy XD

Two questions....

Are speeders the only vehicles in this? No cars, buggies?

Best way to get tokens to upgrade SDU stuff?

I play it on PC but just got another copy to play with my wife and holy crap the performance is bad in couch coop even on the PS5 Pro.

Thinking about just playing together online instead, sadly we'll be in different rooms.

If anyone would be so kind…

I'm curious about this one…

How's the exploration? Dungeons? Side activities? Rewards for such etc?

I'd play solo.

In a perfect world I'd like to get Silent Hill, Cronos, This, but I can only get two due to
Time/money, so curious how this one is shaping out on the above mentioned fronts.

I'm playing this entire game on solo on hard and having a ton of fun (minus the constant unreal engine crashes on PC). 10 hours in so far and I genuinely enjoy the side content so far (one of them had a really funny reference to another game that I love) and the main story so far is great. If you do get it, 100% recommend playing on hard. It's not that hard, still adds a goods challenge, and the loot rate drop is increased for better stuff.

Alright, I'm going to reach out on a limb. As of now being close to lvl20, this is the best BL since 2. Enjoying the landscapes immensely and it's Borderlands gameplay. Like how they've overhauled the UI and map. Thoroughly reminding me of the best parts of all the games.

Must note that I'm a 9800X3D/4090 PC. No crashes yet.

To get SDU tokens you need to complete the small missions that are marked on the map. Claiming travel points, controlling horde points etc.

They're everywhere. It's to encourage you to complete the activities in each zone.

A controller with back paddles pays for itself in games like this. 1st thing I did was map square to a paddle!

Yeah in the vehicle selection you can even view the locked ones but they are all speeders it seems.
Am I the only one that misses being able to hop out of your buggy, do some shit, then find your buggy again and continue?

I'm not a fan of this vehicle disappearing when you exit, and then being reconstructed at any time right below you.

Yeah, that's a good thing for sure. In TTW you had to spend your money on the upgrades, but now you actually have a reason to do side missions. I always do those anyway, but still.

By the way, isn't it kinda insane how much money they charge you ingame for being resurrected? Super early game and I see amounts of 4000- 6000 when I get resurrected, Jesus.

I do like the speeder, but yeah those buggies were always great. I remember psychos in those cars giving chase and trying to kill you, lol.

Do baddies use vehicles at all or is that gone now?
