Bravely Default |OT| A better Final Fantasy than Final Fantasy

Got mine at around 8pm. It's possible that's the problem, I've been shopping with them for years and always got stuff early until GTAV and now this.

Sad thing is if I had known I would have just got the Digital version for £8 more tomorrow/friday midnight :(

In fairness they have been quite bad recently. They sent my Link Between Worlds with my PS4 so I got it a week late.
That's... not what those posts were complaining about :p

Don't most retailers do that anyway? Unless you make separate orders or specify that you want the shipments separated.

I was just getting in on the general bitching about ShopTo. Hopefully they've just been overwhelmed by the Xbox One and PS4 releases within a week of each other and it'll be back to normal soon.

I'm sure a lot of places routinely combine orders, but not for items that are released a week apart.

European version is $135 with taxes (or 100€), American one is $50 without.
Ah, thanks. Wait, the taxes are not already added in the BD CE on amazon.com?
I can't wrap my (tired) head around that. Because different states have different taxes or what? (I don't know that much about the US tbh)

That's right; some states also don't charge tax for online purchases, so there might not be any tax.

In general though, retail prices in the US (and Canada) never include tax. It's always added on top of the marked or listed price.

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.
Just a heads-up: online features have been working since earlier today (didn't before). My village just got much more lively (oh, that expensive merchandise..)

Am I right in saying that to rebuild Norende village you need to streetpass people, and friend codes are useless for that specific sidequest?

Streetpass or Spotpass, yeah. So you get villagers through wifi without actually Streetpassing people anyway.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
Shiny get! Cant really tell with pic though, but its the nice foil cover one. Err parts are foil not all to clarify.

Just realized mine's gonna be here tomorrow morning, a day earlier than I expected. Also just got the code e-mail from Dengeki for the Donnerjäger.

Finally got my old save transferred. When you try to log in to the members site, use your e-mail address instead of your username. You'll get transmission errors with your user name for some reason. Excited to go through this again!

I just checked the save data that's uploaded to the site, and it's a file that's at like 10 hours. Weird, I swear I uploaded my save from the end of the game. Oh well. There's no benefits to importing old data if you don't intend to continue that file, right?

Now I can clearly see why the U.S. version is the superior CE. The eyes have it. And by it, I mean severe Autism. I would have said "acute" Autism, but... ain't a single thing cute about them.

Weird, it was the other way round for me earlier; email wouldn't work, username did.

I think the time is glitched. Mine keeps reverting to 67 hours, despite my playtime being around 103, and me getting the 100 hour playtime achievement. Check the achievement page, or the completion percentage, since they should be right.

Whether you want to use the data is up to you though, really. You can use it to unlock all of the jobs right from the beginning, if you want to. I'll be doing that, as well as transferring all of the special clothes items so I can use them from the start too.

Oh, I forgot that you can choose what to import... huh, yeah. Well I guess I'll try to upload it again from my original game and see what happens.

Added the first 3 sets of friend codes from the first page, will add the rest in a few hours after my lectures.

And Amazon.jp sent me a mail that I can barely understand with the help of google translate. Apparently they just sent my artbook <3 Should be here by next week

My haul from Amazon JP shipped :D
The novels, famitsu, and the artbook should reach directly next week while For the Sequel arrives at Tenso warehouse at in a few days :)

Man what the lame, why is the original on eshop but this isn't ;-;

You can't get the download version directly from the eShop.

In order to get the download version (2,900 yen) you need to download a new "Ver1.1" patch for the original game from the eShop. That'll add an eShop icon to the title screen of the game, which when pressed will take you to the purchase page.

You can't get the download version without the original, in other words.

It looks like my new 3DS XL, game and artbook won't ship until friday, so I'm really tempted to get the download version and keep my physical copy wrapped... =x

The challenge on normal is pretty good. Every time I get into a new area I have to adapt to the new enemies and use different tactics.

I got the first crystal yesterday (Spoilers obviously)
and the two-headed boss was great, very cool design. Killed me 3 times before I went back to get better equipment and then I finally stood a chance against him with a monk, knight, black mage and white mage. Put fire attributes on all my characters' specials and wrecked the blue head, the red one was a cakewalk then.

Awesome, awesome game

After seeing some close up pictures of the figurine, I canceled that shit with the speed of light.

Decided to invest the money I just saved into the artbook.
It's amazing how people were disappointed we weren't getting it, even more flattering pictures didn't look all that great. I guess some really did want those statues and figurines with their games, while others were just envious Europe got something NA didn't even though we really should be thankful it's not there to ratchet up the game's price.

Apparently the Dark Knight job was nerfed and it's not the overpowered obvious choice anymore: http://ds-can.com/bravely-default-fts/game/jobhenkou.html

Can anyone translate the exact changes?

I'll do some more later, but I'm tired at the moment. Dark Knight doesn't look nerfed to me. Berserk is now set to a max of 5 times, but Berserk is only good for bosses anyway, since it's a single hit move (albeit one that continues until you run down to 1 HP).

Suppin (Freelancer?)
Support Ability "Teki Yoke" (Ward enemy) has been deleted
Job Lv9 Support Ability has been changed to "Null Poison" (New)
Command Ability "Tonzura" (Run away) has changed from Lv9 to Lv11
Support Ability "Funbaru" (Endure) has changed from Lv11 to Lv13
Support Ability "Teki Yose" (Lure enemy) has changed from Lv13 to Lv12
Command Ability "Shiraberu" (Check) will now show the enemies species

Monk
No visible changes

White Mage
Support Ability "Tenshi no Kago" (Angels Guard) has its cost reduced from 3 to 1

Black Mage
Support Ability "Magic Defence Pierce" has its cost increased from 2 to 3

Knight
No visible changes

Thief
Command Ability (Too tired to look up) has its cost reduced from 2 to 1, will affect skills like "Heart Thief"

Merchant
Lance proficiency has increase from A to S
Command Ability "Take Over" has had the cost reduced from "Lv*100" to "Lv*50", damage has also been reduced

Magic Swordsman
No visible changes

Time Mage
No visible changes

Hunter
Command Ability "Aiming" can pierce Default

Summoner
Support Ability "Migawari Shoukan" (Body Switch Summon) has its cost reduced from 3 to 1
Support Ability "Summon in a Pinch" has its cost reduced from 3 to 2

Valkyrie
Command Ability "Crescent Moon" has had its strength reduced to that of a basic attack
Command Ability "Spirit Barrier", instead of having damage reduce MP instead of HP for 10 turns, will now null damage for 10 turns in exchange for MP equal to 10% of the damage.
Support Ability "Sky High" has its cost reduced from 3 to 2

Red Mage
Support Ability "Recovery" has its cost reduced from 3 to 1
Support Ability "Revenger" has its cost reduced from 3 to 2
Support Ability "Revival" has its cost reduced from 3 to 2
Support Ability "Pinch ni Kaishin" has its cost reduced from 3 to 1
Support Ability "Overlimit", instead of increasing magic damage when BP is below 0, it will now increase magic damage based on how far below it is from 0 at the time of action

I gave in and bought the download version from the eShop. ><

Well, Amazon have dispatched my copy via their release day delivery service. So it'll probably arrive to coincide with the US release.

My CE is out for delivery today - look out in the OT for some photos soon.

I'm so disappointed from what I've seen of the figure in photos, and I doubt seeing it up close and personal will do much to improve my feelings for it. Let's not beat around the bush here - it's total garbage, and whoever signed off on it for inclusion in this edition should be downright ashamed of themselves. Once the photos are taken, it's going straight back in the box.

Spoiling them in case someone doesn't want to know what jobs are available.
Freelancer:
Support ability that reduces encounters has been removed, since that's a default option in the game. Instead they get poison immunity at job level 9. When they learn their later abilities has been rearranged.
Buff: When using Scan, the monster's race can also be seen.

White Mage
Buff: Support ability 天使の加護 (chance to reduce received damage) has had its equip cost reduced from 3 to 1.

Black Mage
Nerf: Support ability 魔法防御貫通 (ignores magic defence when dealing magic damage) has had its equip cost increased from 2 to 3.

Thief
Buff: Support ability 快盗乱麻 (physical damage increases with every steal) has had its equip cost reduced from 2 to 1.
Buff: Command ability ハート泥棒 (steals enemy HP) will also trigger the above support ability.

Merchant
スペキュラー renamed スペキュレート. (Specula -> Speculate)
Buff: Spear affinity improved from A to S
Nerf: Command ability テイクオーバー (basically Gil Toss) has had its damage and money expenditure halved.

Hunter
Buff: Command ability エイミング can pierce Default or something, not sure.

Summoner
Buff: Support ability 身代わり召喚 (When summoner is KO'd, cast one Summon) cost reduced from 3 to 1.
Buff: Support ability ピンチに召喚 (Casts a summon when put into critical status) cost reduced from 3 to 1.

Valkyrie:
Command ability スピリットバリア has had its effect changed from "For 10 turns, damage received will deduct MP instead of HP" to "For 10 turns, when receiving damage, 10% of that damage value will be used to reduce MP, and the attack has no effect". I think I'm translating that wrong, cos that's obviously a buff.
Nerf: Command ability クレセントムーン does your normal attack damage instead of being boosted.
Buff: Support ability スカイ・ハイ (starts battle in Jump status. Greater effect when equipped with spears) cost reduced from 3 to 2.

Red Mage:
Support ability オーバオリミット changed from "Magic damage boosted when BP is at 0" to "The more negative your BP is, the more magic damage is boosted"
Buff: Support ability リカバリー (get 2 BP when afflicted with a status effect) cost reduced from 3 to 1.
Buff: Support ability リベンジャー (chance to get 1 BP when taking damage) cost reduced from 3 to 2.
Buff: Support ability リバイバル (when taking damage that puts you in critical health, gain 2 BP) cost reduced from 3 to 2
Buff: Support ability ピンチに会心 (boosts critical rate when in critical health) cost reduced from 3 to 1.

Alchemist:
The level at which certain skills are learned has been rearranged.
Buff: Support ability 自動ポーション (Auto-Potion) cost reduced from 2 to 1.
Buff: Support ability 自動フェニックス (Auto-Phoenix) cost reduced from 3 to 2.
Nerf: Support ability 痛覚麻痺 (damage taken is delayed, not sure what it does) cost increased from 2 to 3.

Superstar:
Buff: Support ability 補助強化 (status buffs have 10% greater effect on self) also gains (status debuffs have 10% reduced effect on self)

Nerf: Command ability 倍撃 (an attack that does double normal physical damage) MP increased from 18 to 148.
Nerf: Command ability 倍々撃 (an attack that does quadruple normal physical damage) MP increased from 99 to 297.

Buff: Command ability 隠身之術 (less likely to be targeted by enemies) duration increased from 4 to 5.

Holy Knight
Command ability シャインブラスト effect changed from "holy damage multiplied by 2.5" to "holy damage deals 1.5 times damage to defaulting enemies" (not sure about that one)

Dark Knight
Buff: Support ability 道連れ (deal damage to all enemies on death) cost reduced from 3 to 1.

Some of those changes are very welcome like the Crescent Moon damage decrease. Hopefully that means that the full game is more balanced than the demo.

Finally got to try the demo yesterday evening and, well... I suuuuuck so bad, it's a bit embarassing. Had to go back to the inn every 2 fights or so... and I was playing on Easy, so yeah :p

By the way, the "easy" area to train is the cave west of the city, right? But when I arrived there, I got ambushed by a bunch of 6 ennemies at once, poor Angès didn't make it out of there :(

Just got the message I can come and pick up the game :D

Although there's a storm coming. Oh well, the wind gods will not keep me away from my Bravely Default!

Just realized mine's gonna be here tomorrow morning, a day earlier than I expected. Also just got the code e-mail from Dengeki for the Donnerjäger.

I got my Donnerjäger code too. As for the game, I don't even know when my copy's getting shipped. Great.
