Something I didn't remember until today...last night when we were playing, someone got shot (Twig?) by a bot in co-op campaign mode.

The bot then proceeded to run up and apparently hump his face. He was like "Did that bot just teabag me." It might have been a glitch, but it was entertaining nonetheless.

I think that's what it looks like when bots try to melee you when you're down

so basically Splash Damage makes you teabag when you try to clear bodies

Alright did some time as a heavy engineer. They are awesome.
Now moving on to Soldier, and then Operative.

I really need to stop creating new characters because it kills my progress but whatever.

I want to quote Patton Oswalt regarding the person who decided that the Challenges should get mindrapingly hard when you reach a certain level.

At midnight I will kill you with a shovel.

Bring friends in to help you beat them? I think you can have up to 3 buddies help you out.

You can only finish them (regarding progress, achievements) if you do it solo. And if you have friends in, it gets hard on such an insane level that you want to sell the game / your soul / your chance for happines in life in an instant.

I love Brink, it's not the game i wished for but i've poured nearly 30 hours into it in the last 4 days, but this last Challenge, the third escort mission is literally turning me away from the game altogether. I'm level 20. by the way and no, i don't want to do every challenge again with an other character because i've had a REALLY hard time finishing the last challenge, it was a miracle. Now i need an other one, but my sanity and well-being is not keen to the idea of an other, last Challenge.

Can you create a level 1 character, beat the challenges that way, and then switch back and use the new attachments etc.?

I beat the first three challenges at level 7-9 or something, and they were already frustrating. And as mentioned, I don't think you get unlocks if you play with friends.

Weapons and attachments carry over, you only have to unlock them once. However, skills not, so you have to level up in order to have a decent chance at competing - but leveling up means upping the difficulty as well.

I think that works. Doing all the challenges first makes it so much easier. The better you get the more annoying the enemy gets. :D

Started to pump more hours into the PC version. It kinda sucks since everyone I know who bought it and I play it with got it on 360, but until the lag is fixed there's nothing I can actually play with them consistently.

:( If only they'd listen to me telling them to buy a gaming PC over the past year.

Anyone else a little disappointed by the amount of challenges? They should have done some gun challenges as well, or ability challenges. e.g. 10 Scavenges or Repair Turrets/Objectives.

Not me. As a COD stalwart, I'm sick and tired of do X and get Y.

At least in Brink you're learning something and are rewarded for it.

Played more Freeplay successfully. Standard is on/off with the lag, so I jumped into Competition this time. I really think that eliminating bots altogether helped with a lot of the lag problems. It was great just with 5v5 humans. If Splash Damage can somehow add a 8v8 without bots (letting teams fill up properly and running with uneven numbers, but auto-team balancing) the lag might be cut. I'm not a networking engineer though. Haha.

The bots really don't add much, IMO.

Fair enough. I was hoping they added some more Timed Challenges, just for the leaderboard stuff. It is nice that you can do the main set and unlock all the stuff you need.

More challenge packs for DLC would be nice. Some time attack stuff, like you mentioned, would make for easy free DLC this June.

Nope. I'm more surprised they didn't take the challenges more seriously as an idea for some co-op fun. With the way bots are now it's a bit dumb to even try with others. I personally enjoyed the wave of enemies one. I would've liked to see an actual Horde/Firefight mode made off of this to keep surviving progressively hard waves. Of course it would have to be done on a better designed map then the one they used lol.

The challenges are pretty worthless overall if you ask me. Their real benefit is the items gained and that's about it.

Wish there was a level editor so that we could build our own (challange) levels.

Did that on like level 17 and yes, the bots are really annoying. Its just a matter of getting the vehicle in time to the next point that disables the current enemy spawn. Took me 2-3 tries and a bit of tactics to get through it (PC).

Just finished up some fun rounds on the PC GAF server. Whoever NoCakeMix is, I tip your hat to you, sir. Gave my Light Engineer a good bonkin' on the noggin'. Still adjusting to the switch from Heavy to Light, but I'm really loving the newfound mobility. Just need to practice my wallhopping and SMART more, things I could ignore as a fatty.

This game is at least as good as RtCW: Enemy Territory, my favourite online FPS. =)

Well, the joke is on me, ive started a second character, done all the challanges except the first - now im stuck there. e Teammate Bots doing literally nothing? Arming a bomb, hacking a computer in plain sight, right next to enemy spawn? If you don't get there frist you literally don't have a chance and have to restart the mission. This game mode is a total disgrace. I'm seriously considering giving up on Brink altogether.

Haha, I know that feeling. The bots really made me rage at some points. There are occasion they really work well and you could almost think they are humans. But then again the AI sometimes just seems to drop their brain and do nothing anymore. They just stand there and it basically becomes a 1 vs how many people are in the enemy team. In the end its more luck than skill to beat some missions/challanges.

Yes and that's why I give up: when skills determine a challenge i'm really psyched. When luck and dumbest design decisions ever, then I am not interested anymore. For the sake of my mind and for the sake of Brink, i skip the last challenge - i don't want to hate everything related to it - but whoever decided certain conditions (like bots doing nothing) in challenge mode should not be allowed to do it ever again.

they should just patch out the shotgun because it's lost the close range fight against automatics in every single encounter for me

PC version is working a hell of a lot better now. good to see that they are rolling patches out quickly.

now, please fix SLI!! :D
That should really be on the bottom of their list given it is a tiny minority of users, and you can play without it.

How come I can't use the medical abilities?

Some are passive buffs, other are buffs that you can use on yourself/team members. Those ones you assign to the D-Pad and you can tap that direction to use them. The Revival Syringe is part of the Medic class, so it won't be displayed but you can use it as many times as you need, as long as you have the supplies to use it.

After doing some of the challenges, I thought that a Horde Mode game would be fun as a co-op option. Would be handy to teach players about turret placement and repair, also about putting mines down.

As a side thing, I wish you could scavenge player bodies that are from your own faction.

Anyone else finding the Security campaign harder than the Resistance one?

I can't for the life of me beat Day 3 Security solo, even on easy. The AI is just too terrible. I beat the following two levels, and the first one, but playing on I can't beat any others!

I had no problem with the Resistance campaign, though, which is why I'm asking.

Overall I felt they were a little harder.

As for that special level, I complained earlier in this thread on how I rage quit/lost that mission a few times simply because all it involves is some kind gracious luck. The bots were always directly running into the enemy. If you had the case the enemies suddenly turned into berserk aimbots. And your comrades often decided to just do nothing at all or move back instead of forward ...

That mission was probably the most frustrating for me in the game.

Well, thats's nice, I can't play with my friends anymore if they are inviting me / i'm trying to join them because i'm lvl 20. Really. No lobby and a level cap, so every time i switch the game on, everybody has to get really friendly and just quit what they are doing so i can join too?

I really really thought this would be an amazing game. I've had a really great time in the past few days, but this is getting ridicolous. Splash Damage: You've made several multiplayer games in the past, yet you make all the mistakes one can at launch. What.the hell.happened?

New patch I guess? I think I might be late to this, but I don't think it looked like this when I played yesterday. Sorta weird.

So does anyone else get massive sound bugs in the 360 version? I get "laggy" sound, for lack of a better word, often throughout a match, or I'll lose sound in just one ear, etc. I think it's the game trying to do the ear-stun effect from loud explosions going off, but it just comes off as being broken...

I didn't adjust anything in the console or something, it just was there today. Pretty weird, but it seems I have some awesome arms!
I had the same problem! Just download the Brink config program here. Follow the instructions it gives you and set your FOV to 70 for default or 90 if you like to see things.

Well the patch solved most my problems. I can now run the game at 30-40+ fps...buuut I'm getting a lot of stuttering which seems to get worse the longer I play, and my fps start to drop to around 20.

Really frustrating.
