I dont think it is in single either...at least it shouldnt be since that would make no sense.

Really makes no sense, maybe its the AI stuff that cripples the performance (hard to believe, though).Teknoman said:I dont think it is in single either...at least it shouldnt be since that would make no sense.
I mean really. And he doesn't seem to know that capturing a command point will give the entire team an extra health-pip or supply-pip.To make matters worse, secondary objectives tend towards the completely frivolous. Why would I repair a staircase to create a shortcut to the objective when it's just going to feel like banging my head against a wall when I get there? Taking a secondary path to the same boring endpoint doesn't make what happens when you get there any more interesting. And why would I even bother capturing any of the neutral command points on the map if I can't spawn there to get the strategic upper hand? Sure, I can change my class there or replenish my ammo, but that doesn't seem to be worth the loss of manpower needed at the main objective.

But what can you expect from reviews, eh?
Wait a day or two for either patches or some kind of workaround. IF not, then you should trade it.Corky said:well these pc-impressions aren't reassuring at all, guess I shouldn't be surprised when companies hide that version in the attic like the fuckin elephant man. edit : DAMN! Tri-SLI GTX580 here and the game can't reach 30fps (or at least it feels like that). Something is awfully wrong.
And that seals the deal.
Besides some minor issues and the lack of a party system (hopefully they add one) the game is just fine.Corky said:well these pc-impressions aren't reassuring at all, guess I shouldn't be surprised when companies hide that version in the attic like the fuckin elephant man. Wait, you can't switch teams during a match? That's pretty dumb. I can't believe the horrible design decisions concerning the usability of the online play.Twig said:Played like three maps... Took me three maps to really get the feel.
Technical issues aside, I like the game a lot. But I quit once I realized I was on a team full of bots and couldn't even switch to the same team as my friends.

You can, but it wouldn't let me, because the server populated both teams with bots, so both teams were "full".Nocebo said:Wait, you can't switch teams during a match? That's pretty dumb. I can't believe the horrible design decisions concerning the usability of the online play.
I think you can switch teams, but like TF2, you can't switch if it unbalances the teams. Except in this case it balances the teams with bots, and I don't think there's a spectator team, so...Nocebo said:Wait, you can't switch teams during a match? That's pretty dumb. I have no idea how he thought a staircase would help him out in a firefight, but hey, more power to him I guess! Must feel real good to have this horde of morons deciding if you get your metacritic bonus or not.AwesomeSauce said:Reading that quote you just posted is one of the stupidest things i've read in a review from 1up.

So much for teamwork lol.

To be fair, it is possible I'm an idiot and missed something. But the other team was grayed out and not selectable.
I'd rather play a game with no bots and like five people than a game full of bots, anyway, so it was annoying that the server even HAD bots. Dunno if you can turn 'em off, but I sure wish whoever runs the GAF server would, if they can. U:

Haha consoles. That's a good one!serotonina said:PC or console version?
Because it could've been a simple measure to prevent a team full of humans against a team full of bots.
TF2 server with bots do the same, you can't switch team if there's the same amount of human players in team, even with bots, or if you are in lesser number than than the other team.
Thank god for that!- Weapon handling is nice, there is reasonable recoil and bullet spread.

Still silly that a human can't replace a bot by switching teams. I hope they recognize it as a bug and fix it. But yeah I hope servers will eventually just turn bots off permanently.Twig said:You can, but it wouldn't let me, because the server populated both teams with bots, so both teams were "full".

Further proving my point I said earlier. Some games only get a few hours of play (if that) so they can move on to the next game that they actually care to review. Hardcore shooters tend to be the ones that lose in that case since the reviewers can't even give the game a chance before moving on to the next one. Especially 2 MP centric shooters like S4 and Brink that require some playtime before you can get into it.crimsonheadGCN said:Not sure if this was pointed out, but one of the people who writes for Voodoo Extreme is saying that the Joystiq's review was fishy for the sole reason that the reviewer only played a couple of hours before giving it a score:

I agree with you 100% Im really enjoying the game but it runs like poopSinatar said:Alright put a little under 4 hours into the PC version.
The Good:
- This is Enemy Territory at it's best, everything that made ET great is here in spades.
- The way the classes interact with the objectives and one another is brilliant.
- Weapon handling is nice, there is reasonable recoil and bullet spread.
- Sound design is great, guns sound fantastic, bullets whizzing past your head and hitting around you all sound fantastic.
The Bad:
- The game runs far worse then it should. I've got an i7, 12 GB of RAM, a Radeon 5870 with the latest drivers and the Brink hotfix installed and my framerate frequently dips below 30 even with everything turned all the way down.
- Sound sometimes cuts out after you get hit. Seems to be a bug in the whole sound dampening effect that occurs when you're hurt.
- I've played I think 7 of the 10 maps and so far only Container City seems to take advantage of the SMART system to any great effect. Really disappointed in the whole Parkour aspect as a whole really, not as smooth as it should be.
- The minigun is pure dogshit, what a complete waste of a weapon.
Since most of the problems are of a technical nature I think this game can be patched into something pretty special, let's hope Splash Damage follows through on that.
