Do you have the ability to speed it up?

I do think the turrets are a little weak, but I only have level 2 turrets. Maybe I'm just using them wrong.
Oh shiz I guess I'll have to equip that perk. I think that it's less their strength, they aren't TF2 turrets and they want you to get by them if they aren't being backed up by a player character, but they don't target well or at least they don't seem to take priorities or or fire sometimes even if they have someone in front of them, I wouldn't be surprised if they were using the same attack code as the bots.

they really need to make it easier to clear downed enemies.

Yea I miss the melee all the time. I use the revolver now, 2 shots and they are down.

I wish the melee to finish people off had a lock on like buffs do.

Kill, probably.

Ahh I see.

I don't always kill down enemies, or at least not instantly. I like to delay it a bit longer. :D The idea is that once I head online, if you can get someone to hang on for a medic a bit longer and miss the next re-spawn, then that is handy for your team.

Plus wasting bullets on them sucks. I usually use the Pistol+Knife combo.

impressions (PC), only gameplay I don't care about graphics

- Gunplay: better than my first impressions, still they need a bit more feedback and punch. Recoil values are fine, firing in burst gives you the upper hand with most automatic guns at medium/long range, as it should be (KZ3 full auto no recoil I'm looking at you)

- Parkour: I use medium body type so I don't know the full potential of this but so long yeah, you can perform some acrobatics to get your ass out of trouble or reaching places faster while getting the surprise factor.

- Teamplay: 90% of players don't know what they're doing so I think this game needs at least 2-3 weeks before we see awesome evenly matched games. A lot of selfish medics and engineers, almost no one playing the operative/soldier classes.

- Maps: some good some bad and some just ok, just like every other mp game out there, again need more time until I know them fully.

- Lag: not an issue on PC (after the 2 patches, no idea how it was before)

- Fun factor: if you are lucky to get into a team who know what they're doing Brink is some unique experience and very fun to play, on the other hand if you get in a team of noobs you're bound to be frustrated in the first couple of minutes.

- Singleplayer: meh, AI is not smart enough to create the illusion of being human or at least, fun to play with/against.

more impressions later

I think it's the same amount of time either way. I notice I'll be down and watching the counter, then someone finishes me and I spend a few more seconds in spectate.

Trying to buy on UK Steam but they seem to have pulled it. Anyone else having this problem?

Been reported on eurogamer now. Splash Damage are "looking into it".

Still missing for me at present however :-(

With the mixed reception to this game, and the UK being Splash Damage home turf, this is a pretty unfortunate event...

With the Supply slowly regenerating, other than some skills, are there other ways to get it back faster? I thought they may have sped it up via kills/objectives etc.

Dunno whats with the dark edges on both sides of the screen though. Never noticed that before. Also sucks that the game "says" im playing at one framerate when im clearly seeing a lower one.

Performs alot better than pre-patch, but still not ideal.

Anti-Aliasing could be better too.

I think I've settled for the CARB-9 (duct tape+front grip+adjusted sights) and Sea Eagle (rapid fire+speed holster+adjusted sights), turns out that adjusted sights doesn't reduce the sensitivity so I'm quite fine with using those. Since I play with ui_showgun 0 I won't be doing much ranged combat anyway. Really like the setup, duct tape is fun to manage with the fast/slow reload and the Sea Eagle is as deadly in close quarters as it is at range.

As for skills, so far I have:

Universal: Battle hardened, supply max+, combat intuition, sprinting grenade, sprinting reload and resupply rate+.

Soldier: Armor piercing, grenade mastery, scavange, kevlar vest and extra magazine.

Level... 11, I think.

Only one I'm not that happy with is scavange, it takes too long for too little benefit. But it has its uses. I really like the soldier abilities, or rather, I really like grenades! Molotov is super powerful as well, really looking forward to frag blast+ and grenade damage+! Mohaha. Sporting a light body and having a ton of fun.

Breaks my heart a little that I haven't seen many good medics though, that used to be my job in QW...

Oh and in one game I used a built staircase to great effect! Suck it 1up.com

When do the ranks go up? Sorry if thats a dumb question, but Im rank 2, level 9 right now. My dude's a badass engineer and a ridiculous operative.

Running Battle Hardened and Supply Max+ for the Universal
Operative has Firewall Command Post and Comms Hack
Engineer has Extra Kevlar, Gear Head, and Light Turret.

Still have 2 points floating, dont know what to spend it on until I get my rank up.

Alas, I keep running into teams that are nothing but engineers and ops. Of course, if I play my other character, doubling as a soldier/medic.... then Im playing with nothing but soldiers and medics. : P

First DLC to be free!
We would like to thank you for supporting Brink and for your continued feedback. To show our appreciation for your support of Brink, we will be making the first DLC for Brink available for free when it is released. This DLC is planned for June and will offer additional maps and new weapons for players. We’ll continue to provide announcements about the next title update, as well as the first DLC release as that information becomes available.

Maps and weapons. Not bad, SD!

Sprinting reload is a must IMO, the more speed you have when reloading the better, and you'll be reloading a lot! If you're using duct tape it's even better (as you can "fix" your mags on the run). Sprinting grenade is good as well but not essential, I just don't like stopping for anything, and as a soldier I'm throwing lots of crap around.

Weapons eh... I guess I can trust them, haven't found anything overpowered yet. More maps is nice but those should always be free! As should weapons... so I guess I didn't expect anything else, really.

Vignetting. Pretty sure it's intentional. I think it's one of the post processing effects.

Fucking sexy. :D

I played for about 5-6 hours today with my friend. We're totally hooked. We did around 3-4 competitive matches and got lucky that I was the one made host so there wasn't any lag issues. The rest of the time we spent in co-op to level a little faster, but made it open to anyone to join our team.

I hit max level and have my character fully decked out in what I wanted. Now I'm starting to tinker with more of the assault rifles with different attachments to see which is the best for me. I'll probably do some Heavy tinkering too, but I'll probably settle on a light or medium character.

Trying to get a GAF 5v5 or 8v8 or even a GAF team up, its been BRUTAL. If you want to play I'm Magic Gamertag on XBL. I am old and married so I will be home tonight, let me know whats up

They need to watch out... DLC weapons being stronger and stuff is bad, like really bad.

That would be bad, but not that bad, since the DLC is free. If they are overpowered, at least everyone will have them.

Free maps and weapons for the first DLC sounds good to me. :) If they do paid map packs after that it's not too bad, since there should at least be some free maps already there.

Yep, artistic vignetting, its intended to focus your eye toward the centre of the screen/photo. Very common in films and photos as well as games.

In regards to maps, what kind of things do people want to see? The Ark does seem fairly varied but I am guessing some snow maps would be out of the question. :D

Psh, I don't want some uninteresting, tacked on story to interfere with SD's ability to deliver interesting, varied play environments!

But very cool of them to make the first DLC pack free.

The gridlines are gone but the game still runs really bad online for me; I can't tell if it's the server (takes ages to find one with an active one with a spot), my computer or the game :<.
Should I still be having issues with a 4890?

Agreed. Would be nice to see some non-Ark stuff. 2-Fort remake gooooooo!

I want maps that utilize SMART more.

Example:

There's a long pit in front of you, but on the other end is a platform that will lead to a way down that acts as a shortcut. Light bodied people could wall hop left and right a few times to make the jump and not fall below to their death. Others have to run around and it takes a much longer time to get to where the shortcut connects to.

Things like that would be great. I'd also like maybe a map that takes place on several boats out on the ocean right outside the Ark. Water hazards to jump over, each spawn is a smaller vessel, and the battleground is a giant multi layered fleet ship.

Nice idea! Some symmetrical maps would be interesting. More SMART usage would also be great.

I'm not really sure I want to pay for DLC on a PC multiplayer map title, when the community would provide a far better resource given the chance (and possibly will).

My copy is arriving tomorrow, but I heard that in the UK people have been unable to activate their copy in the last few hours since the Brink store removal. Any news on that or can I breathe a sigh of relief?

How, exactly, do you get the player filter to actually work for you? I want to create a filter for the "players" column of the server browser to only display servers with over 8 players, but the filter appears to be working the other way around (it filters servers with high player counts instead of filtering out servers with 1-3 players ).

Anyone else having crazy latency issues in MP? I can't find a playable game today with out lag where I am jumping around.

edit- I'm on PC. It seems like the new patch might have made it worst

In the spirit of ET, team doors that block off certain areas, but ones that disguised cvops could go through (and escort engineers through)!

Oh and a map editor, though I imagine there's practically no chance of that getting released. Are you able to say anything in that regard, Deano?

Not until they could sell enough DLC.

And honestly, it kinda seems the only reason the first DLC is free, are the problems with the gaming performing like ****. Otherwise they would have loved to let us pay for this content.

Also the game has been in the making for what 2+ years? and we get around 8 maps. However suddenly in June (barely a month after release) new weapons and maps will be ready for us. Yeaaaaaah so thats content they cut from the game (in development) just to possibly sell it later ...

They've talked about it before though (in some interview a long time ago), I think they'd be silly to not do it. I don't know if all the server download stuff is still in there but if it is that should be a good indicator for custom maps.

I don't think this is the only free map-pack we'll see. For instance, why aren't they releasing free clothing instead? IMO it makes more sense to charge for that stuff, and they probably don't want paid DLC to be the first thing that comes out the door, so they're saving paid clothing for the next one. Just my two cents!
