I'm a fairly tolerant guy, but sometimes when I read these threads I feel like I'm having a liberal overdose.

As much as I'd like to accept that all those kinds of threads are just people artificially creating controversy for the sake of it (and it's certainly true that controversy is seen as sport on GAF), that's the easy way out. The truth is that a lot of people genuinely do believe that not being attracted to girls from certain races is racist, or that a nationwide block on porn is acceptable, etc.

But I have been to the cinema on my own once or twice. In those circumstances I had planned to see the film with people who then pulled out and I said "fuck it". Probably for the best, I would have been the only one of my mates who would have appreciated Watchmen.

As for being self conscious about it, don't be. It's highly unlikely someone's going to say at the ticket booth "only ONE TICKET?!?" or anything like that. Don't spend too much time thinking about what strangers think of you, because it's a waste of time, especially in a cinema where (hopefully) people don't talk.
