I've just opened the window but I still can't hear the cacophony of wailing from kids who have had to cope with the trauma of opening a Series S this morning.
This thread had built my hopes up, damn you naysayers!

We really need to define this 'experience' people are talking about. The XSS has the exact same feature set as the XSX. Not one person can name a missing feature. Also what was this 'promise'? I've said numerous times no hardware manufacturer can 'promise' that games on their platforms will all have the same graphical features. They can only 'promise' that every system will come with an SSD/CPU/GPU or support a feature, not that that feature will be used by a developer. You are free to not want an XSS, seems plenty of other people like the system just fine, but there appears to be an imaginary 'promise' MS hasn't met and that seems pretty silly.
Did you visit all the stores in your country?I've LITERALLY NEVER seen a PS5 in stores in my entire life!
If anything, xbox games would be much better, since they are also designed for pc too.Exactly! Thats why sony has an advantage with exclusives...I wish microsoft didn't make the stupid Series S.

Nope the same 'experience' was promised and hardware wise, the thing MS actually has control over, the XSS meets the same feature set as the XSX. MS never promised all games on the XSS would have raytracing or be at a particular resolution or use every graphical feature available on the console. If you think a game needed more features you'd have to take that up with the developer of that game. There are games on PC that have graphical features missing on console. You blaming the manufacturers of the systems for that too? Just because you created a standard no system could meet is not on MS.Same games at a lower resolution was the promise. Same games with a lower resolution, often a worse frame rate, lower quality effects, and lower quality ray tracing (or no ray tracing) is what we got. We each have cursor for those things. Mine was a little bit too high, eventually. I may buy a XSX if cheap, or even an XSS if there's a breakthrough in upscaling methods.
I agree and I'd go a step further. Features like FPS boost and Quick Resume are absolutely part of the experience playing games on a Series console. Both the XSS and XSX have the same feature set. It was never confusing. It's obvious that the "experience" they were talking about was the game itself, not every little slider that makes up the graphics settings internally. Anyone pretending to be confused by that is just trolling at this point.
That's the best use case of the service.Ok Xcloud is amazing. My newphew hooked up his new Series S on Christmas Day and after setting it up he was playing Halo Infinite immediately without waiting for an install.

My nephew reacted the same way when he unwrapped his Series S today.
This keeps happening. People that actually have the console seem to like it. People who don't make up stuff and post false 'concerns'. Always consider the source when reading comments on the system.I’m a very happy series S owner. Hope everyone getting one for Christmas enjoys the fuck out of it
If it doesn't have the same graphical effects or running at the same framerate, it is not the same experience. Just like Halo isn't the same experience on a series console as on xbone.Nope the same 'experience' was promised
I disagree. If it has the same levels, characters, and gameplay its the same experience. No company would ever dictate every game will run a particular way on their hardware. The XSS was designed to run games on a lower specced GPU. To expect the same performance seems to be a issue only people who are intentionally being obtuse are having. The systems have the same features, what developers do with those features is on them not MS.If it doesn't have the same graphical effects or running at the same framerate, it is not the same experience. Just like Halo isn't the same experience on a series console as on xbone.
For you … most not forum/ message board posters .. won’t mind.If it doesn't have the same graphical effects or running at the same framerate, it is not the same experience. Just like Halo isn't the same experience on a series console as on xbone.

This joy is short lived. Just wait till they join GAF and realise all the pixels, effects and frames they have lost out on and how they are playing a part in slowing "true" next gen experiences by having the audacity to play on a XSS.My nephew reacted the same way when he unwrapped his Series S today.
Lots of people that got gifted a PS3 back when it was losing multiplatform wars were happy. People that got gifted a Game Gear were happy (I certainly was ). I bet people that got gifted a Jaguar or a Wonderswan or Saturn were happy too… so?This keeps happening. People that actually have the console seem to like it. Correct. They are now a lesser experience and I would strongly recommend to wait until you find a PS5 before playing them if you haven’t already. That would make all the games that got 60fps patches on PS5 like God Of War, Days Gone etc not the "same experience" on PS4 anymore.
The only thing that bothers me is a lack of 60 fps. So far, the only example I know of where Series S can't do 60 fps but XSX can is GOTG, and that's likely due to shitty optimization. If it doesn't have the same graphical effects or running at the same framerate, it is not the same experience. Just like Halo isn't the same experience on a series console as on xbone.
That is if everyone was fan of graphic. If it doesn't have the same graphical effects or running at the same framerate, it is not the same experience. Just like Halo isn't the same experience on a series console as on xbone.
Would you consider it the same experience when experiencing heavy pop-in and lows of 500p resolution? If the gameplay is the same, then there is no difference. And that is what matters the most
You said it.Good to know for all the people who enjoy those games on last gen consoles still.
I survived playing skyrim on a shit TV.Would you consider it the same experience when experiencing heavy pop-in and lows of 500p resolution?
The vast majority of gamers couldn’t give a shit. Its us losers on GAF that do.This joy is short lived. Just wait till they join GAF and realise all the pixels, effects and frames they have lost out on and how they are playing a part in slowing "true" next gen experiences by having the audacity to play on a XSS.
Rubbish take, but carry on. Want not to get limited by hardware? Buy a $3000 PC.If Series S is the majority console, its not good for both Series X and PS5 as next gen games going to be downgraded for Series S.
Looking at recent sales rankings I see FIFA (and Madden in USA), CoD, Battlefield, GTA, Far Cry 6, Guardians of the Galaxy, Deathloop, Kena, TLOU2. If you mean a game published by Sony or big exclusives during holiday, in recent years they avoided to release games during Q4 and left it to 3rd parties, multis and indies. What is the big PlayStation holiday game?
QFT.The vast majority of gamers couldn’t give a shit. Its us losers on GAF that do.

It feel some people just watch the games instead of playing them. Who stops mid combat to check if all the pixels are high quality when the gameplay is fun and engaging. That is if everyone was fan of graphic.

As of now, only few gamers experience rtx reflexes. And even that, they really don't care, since they are busy shooting enemies.
Both Dark Souls Remastered and TLOU remastered play vastly better on PS4 than they do on previous gen hardware. This is just another attempt of clowns trying to pretend that framerate doesn't matter.Whatever man, I played Dark Souls on the 360 lmao. It was still an amazing experience. People will play the new Horizon on a PS4 and will have just as much fun as PS5 owners. Not the same experience.. . Give me a break, any way for you all to try to get a pathetic dig at the Series S.
Same goes for you. Was the Last of Us 1 not the same experience on the PS3 as it was on the PS4?
For you … most not forum/ message board posters .. won’t mind.
You might not know this but not everyone who has an XSS was gifted the console. Normal gamers who want a good value seem to enjoy it too. If it running all current generation games with fewer graphical effects but at a significant discount is 'losing' you might need to check your value system. It's predominantly people who don't own it that are trash talking.Lots of people that got gifted a PS3 back when it was losing multiplatform wars were happy. LOL, I'm referring to the limitations put on developers...Series S holds back PS5 and Series X and PC...Some of the highest rated games came from MS this year. The XSS did not prevent their creation. The XSS will be a major vector into the Xbox ecosystem those additional customers will support the games of the future. I'm glad MS made the XSS. More options are good for gamers.
Series S holds back PS5 and Series X and PC...
So did having 16gb of ram on the big console BTW.LOL, I'm referring to the limitations put on developers...Series S holds back PS5 and Series X and PC...
Please tell me how the XSS held back developers especially for PC of which there are more gaming PCs with lower specs than said XSS. Can you name ANY games the XSS held back? Just one.LOL, I'm referring to the limitations put on developers...Series S holds back PS5 and Series X and PC...

Just because you still enjoyed the games at suboptimal framerates doesn't mean that increasing it to 60 isn't a substantial upgrade. It is such a big upgrade that Microsoft goes out of its way to enhance last gen games to run at increased framerates.
When you try to list war and realize it sucks but click post anyway ....GroLooking at recent sales rankings I see FIFA (and Madden in USA), CoD, Battlefield, GTA, Far Cry 6, Guardians of the Galaxy, Deathloop, Kena, TLOU2. They publish their big exclusives in the other quarters, filling other spots of the year with less 3rd party releases. This year in addition to Returnal, Ratchet, Destruction All Star, Death Stranding DC, Ghost of Tsushima DC, Deathloop, FFVIIR DLC, Kena or Guilty Gear Strive they also had planned Horizon 2, GT7 or GoW Ragnarok, but as happened with tons of other games from basically all publishers, were delayed to the next year due to covid.

You can buy any external SSD for bc/non enhanced games and because of the way the i/o works they are equally as fast as putting them in the internal. If it had a bigger drive or even a Disc drive for my OG XBox/360 collection i would buy one today.
