Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Worldwide reveal: Opening Night Live on Tuesday, August 19

A year gap black ops… I'm honestly think this is gonna be a disaster just like MW3… cod needs a minimum 2 years between each modern warfare and black ops
MWIII was great COD though (bar the SBMM). Just took a season or 2 to get there.

Personally on the gap year thing I really thought they would go down the route of an expansion in the off years and just alternate between the 2 sub franchises. Makes too much sense I suppose. Like you say every other year is enough.

I've been burned by COD every single year since Black Ops 2 with the exception of MW 2019 & MW:Remastered which I quite enjoyed (Infinite Warfare's campaign is amazing, but everything else is shit). I don't count MW2:Remastered as it wasn't a "full package" and it's obviously great because it's just a remaster of the best game in the series.

Nearly every single thing about modern COD turns me off. Shit campaigns, terrible multiplayer maps, horrific Fortnite ass GAAS skins, and twitchy spastic gameplay.

Black Ops 6 for example had a beta that I found quite fun but it was because they just hadn't put in the bullshit yet, and players were new and hadn't started the gameplay shitshow.

Every single recent title has been dogshit and not worth bearing the COD name (I guess you could say what the name USED to mean).

last good COD was BOCW. This series is a trash fire.

Hopefully BF6 is good and we can put this garbage in the past where it belongs.

COD has gotten so stale and here's another 70 bucks you can spend and you're not even getting a re-skin. Did they ever release a new warzone map?
Not sure the last one you played was but they are back on Verdansk right now. But there's been a few. Some of these are smaller Resurgence maps (the best mode).

  • Verdansk (March 2020 - April 2021 / April 2025 - Present)
  • Rebirth Island (December 2020 - November 2022 / April 2024 - Present)
  • Verdansk '84 (April 2021 - December 2021)
  • Caldera (December 2021 - September 2023)
  • Fortune's Keep (June 2022 - November 2022 / February 2024 - November 2024)
  • Al Mazrah (November 2022 - December 2023)
  • Ashika Island (February 2023 - May 2024)
  • Vondel (June 2023 - November 2024)
  • Urzikstan (December 2023 - April 2025)
  • Area 99 (November 2024 - April 2025)

Still not as good as the OG COVID edition.

for me the black ops 6 campaign is still pretty good, there's actual soul put into it. It has everything a cod campaign need and the campaign length is pretty long for cod standards. my favorite is the underground lab where you need to collect 4 keycard, and the bill clinton mission

For the first time ever, I have absolutely zero interest in this franchise and I've been playing them since 2003. For the last few years I've found that it's a fun time at launch and then as soon as the first season drops, I lose absolutely all interest.

Battlefield 6 will scratch my shooter itch later this year.

I still play ranked in bo6 almost every day and I have basically zero hype for bo7. It's gonna be the same game with different maps yippee..... Hopefully BF6 is amazing

I played it and was bored to tears in an hour. But I know some people like it.

They need to cool it on the SBMM and the skins for me. Neither of which I can see happening sadly.

Probably still get it as the lads down the pub won't buy anything else, but playtime will be limited to those sessions, probably.

MWIII is fucking awesome, some of my fav maps and guns in the entire franchise; completely dunks on MWII.

BO7 potentially turning out the same I can only see as an absolute win. I'm in it for zombies regardless.

Thank you. I Keep saying MWIII was great. The support over the year was second to none.

Pretty stoked to see the dude from Heroes get work.

I really hope they chill the fuck out with the goofy skins.

Custom projectile tracers are too much, they need to stop.

Blops 6 for all its faults was fucking rad, Treyarch continues to rule with an iron fist.

It's really hard to be excited about anything that comes out every year. COD is so silly, I mean, with all the good that came with the last one, what could possibly be done to make it "better"? I swear the only enemy COD has is itself.

Gonna be heavily compared to BF6, and memed into oblivion. The CoD community have been malding hard for the last couple of years, and this will be the breaking point.
They are certainly up against it this year, BF's timing could not have been better. However if/when this is a dud (by COD's standards) then its MW4 next year which will do gangbusters regardless.

The cycle continues.

Besides both games co-exsisted in the past one isn't going to kill the other.

That's exactly why I am always still curious for new CoD's. They always have to do *something* to have it stand out from the previous entries so am interested to see what bloody Black OpS SEVEN will bring to the table (can't believe we're getting a 7th entry into that series lol).

That said I wouldn't be surprised if this year's release is a phoned in entry and we're getting re-heated morsels that were previously meant as BO6 content. Seems like a MW3 situation all over again?

You know Treyarch are NOT fucking around, they used Nine Inch Nails in the trailer. Madlads are trying to upstage Black Ops II.

Holy Lord, imagine what the other studios are busy with if Treyarch took two cycles to the face, maybe there's a new engine or something incoming in Q4 2026.

Yeah, that's where I'm at. I mean, 6 genuinely had a pretty good amount of content and it was pretty fun all things considered. At least IMO, lol. I certainly feel like this upcoming iteration will be lesser sequel, but I could always be wrong.

It won't kill CoD, but do you remember the state of call of duty before they released their first BR? It was going downhill pretty hard, and it's only their BR that saved the day. Now we're back to those days, and it's certainly not BF6 that will improve the situation.

MW2019 was huge. BR didnt release until the following march.

The cod community are those who play Warzone pretty much daily and have been buying yearly CoD since at least MW1. They're the ones that feed Bitchassvision with the obnoxious mtx skins. When even them are pissed at the game, you know the situation is critical.
Then you have clowns like me who bough Black Ops Cold War close to launch and haven't played a single minute of the multiplayer...
I do regret giving my money away to Activision in this way but at the same time I enjoyed that campaign quite a lot... it is what it is.

Thank god for gamepass though, I won't be paying full price for a Call of Duty game anytime soon unless they do a drastic change to the franchise like the did with (pre warzone) MW 2019.

MW3 considering the campaign was basically a few missions on the warzone map and the fact it just remastered 2009 MW2 maps for the multiplayer should have been a 49.99 MW2 (2022) expansion at launch. Calling it a mainline entry in the series and charging full price was an insult to the modern warfare franchise.
