IMO, Veteran is the only way to play single player if you want your money out of the offline portion. It's just too easy on lower difficulites. I found the same to be with all the Halo games as well, the single player action is only tense and rewarding when you play at the highest difficulty and for MW2, this is especially true. Now that they have balanced out the grenade spamming and no more infinte spawning, I think Veteran adds value to the sp game and should be attempted by anyone who purchased it for offline play.

I don't really like heartbeat sensors so much myself. I find that my eyes are on my gun more than what's in front of me and often times I'll get killed because I'm not focusing on what's around me.

Silencer/Holographic + Cold Blooded + Ninja is certainly a build I plan on using a lot. Nothing is better than fucking with people's expectations.

I was actually switching between Holographic and Heartbeat sensor a lot last night trying to figure out which was better. The holographic sight is extremely useful if you've got a weapon who's iron sights suck. And the heartbeat sensor can be near useless on maps where there are several storeys (Favela, for example). But using a stealth class is definitely one of the more enjoyable ways to play multi.

The only constant problem I had was the fact that it takes so many more bullets to kill someone without Stopping Power.

Alright ladies, it's finally here. My Wednesday is about to disappear in like 12 hours straight of matchmaking. 360 NuB Pyke if anyone wants to get in on the fun.

Psshhh..."We strongly recommend you play campaign first". Thanks IW, but this game doesnt have any single player component, don't try to fool me.

EDIT: Hell yes, first game 20/7, final kill, level 4. God I love CoD

the story was too ambitious, and not told well. it's like the writers wrote around the set-piece moments rather than naturally working them into a cohesive narrative (although they clearly have some sort of goal, but unfortunately it just got lost in a mix of poorly told loading screen exposition and in-game chatter that was mostly inaudible on my 5.1 setup).

I think they actually said thats how they do it (on the latest Bonus Round), they create the scenarios then build a story around them.

I am loving the heartbeat sensor. It is probably good for at least 2 - 4 kills a match for me. Its even better at the end of a match when you hear people crying about it.

Also, I've been using the holographic sight and like it, but don't get what the diffrence is between this and the red dot? does Holographic zoom a bit more?

Scar is a beast. If only it had a bit more ammo.

friend list bug = You cannot invite friends. They get a message telling that the game is not there anymore.. you can work around it, by going offline for 30 seconds from PSN (when you recieve an invite) and when you go online, start the game, and accept the invite from your friend.. but a patch should fix this on Friday the 13th.

Apparently the holographic gives you better clarity over long distances...but I honestly can't tell.

I can switch between the two of them interchangeably without an effect on my game, so I use the holographic because it was harder to unlock and sounds more badass :lol

Try out the TAR-21. Since I started using it I haven't gone back. Same high damage as the SCAR but the magazine holds more rounds. This is really helpful if you're not using Sleight of Hand (I like Scavenger).

I've put Scrambler on some setups just for the fuck of it. Seem to play a little better when using it in close quarters fights but they may just be placebo.

There's really not that much of a difference. The holographic has a bigger red dot, which to me gives a better feel for how much 'spray' a quick weapon burst might have.

I also feel like the holographic is quicker to line up down the sight when you aim, but I could be wrong.

The TAR-21 has been my favorite so far from the assault rifle group. I can't wait to get my hands on the M16 though.

Being on the receiving end of the Scrambler perk is annoying as fuck.

You know what's shitty? Snipers.

Snipers are nigh unanticipatable (totally a word). The level with the mansion and the greenhouse are HORRIBLE when it's a capture point game because you're forced to spawn in a very specific area and once the enemy has set up, the only way to push out is to snipe them back and try and leak guys out of your area.

...snipers just drive me crazy.

Maps where sniping is hard or pointless: 2:1 or 3:1 K/D ratio.
Maps where sniping is rampant: .75:1 or 1:1 K/D ratio.

Snipers Are Douchebags.
Smoke?

And that's how I like it. I really enjoy the plot in games as well but a fun campaign works best like this. There wasn't a dull level for me and I wouldn't mind replaying the entire campaign again because of that.

I also played on normal and died a decent amount on some levels. I usually play on harder difficulties but in the COD games I always play normal. The sequences are so awesomely scripted anyways that I don't want to have to replay the same part over and over again because I'm dying.

And I also enjoy the heart beat sensor. I love being able to find people without actually seeing them at first. I've gotten plenty of kills using it even though it isn't a main staple of mine.

Absolutely agree, this is the 6th game in this series, and they have all followed the same basic formula, why would they change now?

I don't think it's outlandish to assume they would use some of the hundreds of millions of dollars made on COD4 to improve the production values and overall quality of the single-player in their next game.

hmmm, yeah looking at the stats it looks good. Just less accuracy. Maybe I will make this my assault rifle of choice for smaller maps. I just need to unlock some attachments for it.

Good point...I need to make more custom loadouts of the same build type with minor changes based on level. Not sure why I didn't think of doing this before, but I appreciate the obvious pointer.

Heartbeat sensor is completely useless in MP. It's refresh rate is way to slow to have any use in fast moving mp and it's just very vague. Guess it had a use in the single player, but for this games online it has no use.

Heartbeat Sensor is awesome in FFA.

Yeah, I find this annoying. I don't actually have many (read: any) friends who play video games, let alone own the 360 version and have XBL.

Does anyone know if this game is as motion-sickness inducing as cod4? Had to drop that one altogether because of it.

l4d1 and CS is just fine for me, but some titles (others include PREY, STALKER and Quake3) just doesn't jive with my brain.

I've recruited 2 or 3 guys in college who I think are good enough to do Spec Ops with me on Veteran. If one fails, I'll move on to the next. :D

Being able to find a randomer on Live would be nice, though.

Iron site is not terrible for it. It has a weird round red dot which I didn't like too much. The holographic is great though. I frequently get some long range kills with it.

I've tried to use cold blooded but hate giving up stopping power. In W@W there were a few guns that could still perform well without it. Hopefully I will find something in MW2 that doesn't seem to require it. As soon as I gave up stopping power I found myself losing too many gunfights where myself and the enemy would unload on eachother but he'd survive.

So, does your friends list not update the way it should? It stays on whatever your friends are playing when you signed on, and doesn't change until you sign off and on again.

Just want to make sure I am not the only one.

you are not alone... this is the reason why friend invites don´t work.. IW should have stuck to WaW´s invite system..

I tried making a stealth class with cold-blooded and ran into the same problem. I just feel nerfed without stopping power. Unless I get the jump on some fools or get lucky with a head shot, then I almost always lose those shoot outs.

Oh, and for anyone having trouble aiming on the console, try moving your sensitivity down to Low. I know it sounds crazy, but it helped me a lot. I used to over aim and shoot a big circle around a dude but never hit him. Now I can get headshots from long distance with a holographic sight. I think having the setting to Low also forces me to play a bit slower which to me is safest way to play most of the maps.

Didn't play WaW, but COD4 invite system was so quick and easy. Should've kept it.

Edit: Btw, for the better players out there, Harrier-Chopper Gunner-Nuke will almost guarantee to get you the Nuke if you start a good run. Hope it won't be too frequent.

The game is definitely an improvement, by far the deepest and most fun mutliplayer in the series.

What's up with that title screen and front-end menu though? Went from the dark, moody, fairly polished COD4 background to... C-64. Well, whatever.

Scrambler FTW!

It's been the opposite for me. I've been getting more kills since I switched to cold blooded. Personally, it's worth the loss of the extra bullet damaged to be able to freely roam the map without having to worry about appearing on radar.

So wtf infinity ward. We tried to do a lan party last night and busted out several xboxes, but it was not possible to splitscreen in system link. Only one person per box was allowed.......

No not defending them. I suck at sniping on console and only adequate on PC. I'm just saying usually a way to counter it.

Dang.. I'm worse than I thought at MP.. I have about a .6 K/D ratio :(.

I swear it's bad luck, I wasn't this bad on COD4 and I think I keep getting on games with horribly balanced teams. I've won about 9 matches out of 40. Usually my entire team has bad K/Ds. :(

I never tried it, but wasn't it the same for MW1?

I'm pretty far below my K/D from MW1 (1.2 vs. 1.5). I think I'll do better as I get to learn the map and where people tend to be.

does anyone know if the small damage boost that FMJ gives you is equal to or close to the damage bonus of Stopping Power?

if FMJ is functionally the same as Deep Impact was in CoD4 and W@W, there is no constant damage boost at all.

Each of the weapons has a set percentage of their damage that they will deal through various types of walls. Some guns can't shoot through many types of walls while some like LMG's can shoot through almost all types of walls. What deep impact did was boost damage output ONLY for shots that make it through walls. If FMJ is the same as deep impact was, you'll only see a boost in damage for shots that go through walls.

I finally got to play some online with my friends and wow, I forgot how fun call of duty is online. I kind of liked the purity of 4 though. It almost seems like they added too much stuff. Maybe I'm just not used to it yet.

Also, PLEASE make it so I can get the new tags to disappear without having to go over every one. That always annoyed me.

Semi-OT, but what's up with this "system link" crap? Why can't games just use the actual LAN for LAN play? Am I missing something?

Move slowly and take your time. For all the talk of how fast-paced the MP is, the more deliberate player always wins.

Nah, you're totally right, though.

For levels that are sniper heavy I should totally have a custom loadout with smokes equipped instead of flashes.

I'm an M4A1 guy all the way, so I'll probably just have 5 different situational loadouts of that ready to pull out :lol
