Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 |OT|

Just went 27-12 on Highrise using the tactical knife exclusively(ie no gun kills. My predator missile got 2, harrier got 3), with Marathon pro, commando pro, lightweight. I would literally run directly at people and before they could switch from their reloading rifle to their shotgun and try to shoot me they were already dead. lots of outrage about that "fucking fag knife bitch" running through their spawn.

It was glorious.

Hehe, ironically, I died LESS on Favela Veteran than I did Favela Regular.

Fuckin' weird. :lol

Same here. I played it REALLY safe though, and I stayed above at the main clusterfuck area to pick off as many people as I could before moving on, which took a lot longer.

Just finished the campaign. Awesome action packed ride. Loved every minute of it.

back to gamefly it goes now (don't care about multiplayer)

So we know of at least 2 DLC map packs for MW2, correct?

First DLC: Re-make of COD4 maps
Second DLC: Re-make of COD4 maps, but covered in snow

Is it just me, or are grenades weaker than they were in MW1? I keep on damaging people with my grenades, but kills are far and few in between.

Also, M16 (finally) get!:D

As for the
astronaut
part, what I meant was that it was just nuts to see that in a game. It reminded me of when Psycho Mantis was reading my memory card. It was a very unique experience that could only happen in a videogame, really.
Misunderstanding sometimes inference is hard to pick up on, on internet forums.

I heard the FAL is better. What say you?

It could just be a killcam thing though, where it shows the beep for you because it was you, but doesn't show for the actual player? I don't know. :/
I think this is very plausible. I can't see Ninja not working considering its major function is to stop HBS from detecting you. So I'm betting he's right that the killcam just doesn't mask your heartbeat for some reason.

Now if you saw a kill cam where a guy was blatantly hunting you and making turns based on your position, then I'd say you have a case.

Someone want to tell me what Ninja Pro is? Or for that matter, what Cold Blooded Pro does?

Ninja Pro gives you silent footsteps, Cold Blooded Pro has no red crosshair or name when you get targeted.

Did you think the G3 was better than the M16 in the last game? It's the same thing :lol

People keep bitching about how hard it is to unlock extended mags on guns but it's incredibly easy. I maxed 2 weapons last night alone. I'll probably get another one tonight. Anyone else find that the challenge sounds deceptively hard?

SitRep Pro is louder enemy footsteps, Danger Close Pro is more damage from air support.

Ah, thanks. I play with two friends, one of which always manages to call an AC130 and the other who always manages to call in a Chopper Gunner. Think I'm gonna tell them to rock the Danger Close perk. :p

Anyone use this combo yet?

Vector or P90 or MP5 w/Silencer
Marathon Pro
Lightweight Pro
Commando Pro

Could be quite the deadly combo.

G3, nah, not better. I think the G3 is a wack copy of a FAL anyway, amirite? FAL is impressive, but that M-14/19 in the campaign/Specops should really be included in MP. Love that rifle.

I maxed out the SCAR only. It was worth it since it's such a solid rifle and I've never had any complaints about it.

Deceptively hard? Airborne. Although now with Commando Pro, I have jumped from towers/buildings and slaughtered peeps on the way down.

Please elaborate. I don't have enough opportunities to shoot people through things.

I like machine pistols. When I am running around I usually have my machine pistol out with full metal jacket bullets and silencer equipped. Killing people with it is so satisfying.

I play that, but with a silenced P90 and more importantly, a USP45 with a tactical knife attachment. The P90 stays holstered for the entire game and I just run around knifing people (posted my highrise score of 27-12 earlier, just played Favela and went 24-5. Its so dirty.

EDIT: Just unlocked the title "Cloak and Dagger" and an emblem that looks suspiciously close to the TF2 blue spy. I've decided to swap to those for my knife shenanigans.

Hardest Veteran parts (IMO):

And when I say hard, I meant constant repeat deaths.

Wolverines! - When you cross one of the bridges, there's literally no cover and at least 30-40 enemies shooting in your direction. I finally just sat in the corner and waited for the armored vehicle to come up and stuck behind it for the first few seconds, and then ran into a house for cover.
The Only Easy Day...Was Yesterday (Oilrig) - When they pop smoke grenades at the top and attack you with the heat sensor weapons. I kept getting flanked because Ghost was continuously shot down/incapacitated.
The Gulag - Fighting through the shower area (the area that copies the scene from The Rock). Too many grenades and little cover from the enemies up top.
Whiskey Hotel - At the beginning, when you're told to rush up the left side, I think I died about 30 times before being able to get over to some safe cover. The enemies littered throughout the facade of the White House kept one-shotting me over and over as I ran up.
Loose Ends - The initial ambush with smoke everywhere was annoying as hell. And then when you're running from the house to get to the LZ, enemies attack you from front AND behind, along with the mortar shells going off. The trees and hay bundles offered very little cover. I have no idea how I got through this part; extreme luck.

The Favela levels didn't annoy me as much as they did for most others.

The ingenious thing about MW is they've supplanted XBL achievement whoring with their own proprietary achievement whoring so that people feel genuinely warm and fuzzy about their whoring ways and whoreishness. :lol Whores.

1 Comment and 1 Question - comment has probably already been mentioned and question already asked, but after cycling through quite a few pages I didnt notice either so apologies for the possible repeats.

Comment: The first mission in the single player seemed to be almost directly pulled from Generation Kill. From starting across the bridge and providing support to take out the RPG/Mortar spotters, to the missile strike on the building, to rolling through the city in the Humvee to the 'stay frosty' and 'oscar mike', etc. Not that I minded, because Generation Kill was awesome and I enjoyed the first level - they just seemed really similar. Even my wife who was sitting in the room when I started the single player campaign said "This is almost exactly like that show we watched on HBO" :)

Question: I picked this game up on Saturday, 4 days later than most. I never spent too much time in the original MW MP - and when I played my first few matches Saturday the next lowest ranked guy in any of those was 27 - while I was obviously starting as a 1. Any advice on how to get competitive quickly? I felt bad playing team games - two games in a row I was in matches where everyone was over 30 rank and I was just progressing from 2 to 3, so felt bad when bringing the team down. Would it be best to just play free-for-all to unlock more weapons and get familiar with maps? Even though I only picked up the game a few days later than most - I just felt really, really behind the curve.

Thanks!

Ranks don't mean anything but the equipment you get to use, just play more and get more kills.

In what cases is it preferable to use a Stun nade over a Flash nade? It just seems like Flash nades are better hands down. What am I missing?

As for the guy who wants to get up to speed you could read this excellent article:
http://levelingdown.com/2009/11/13/a-newbie-guide-for-modern-warfare-2-multiplayer/

That article helped me a ton.

Also I just played Team DM mostly and became the shadow of the better players in the server. Followed them everywhere. I learned some nice spots on the map to get kills from.

Yeah, they dont tend to take to kindly towards my antics. You'd think they would appreciate me nto using any ranged weapons, makes it easy to kill me from a distance, but no, nothing but hate.

Stun nades make the affected player move slower, making escape tougher. If you have a mental picture of the room you're in when flashed, it's quite possible to run out/still aim and shoot your weapon blindly. Stun nades can prevent this.

Stun nades actually damage players they hit. It's slight, but sometimes it's enough to allow one less bullet to kill. This light damage is also handy as it illuminates you're "hit" icon on your crosshair, indicated you've affected someone with the grenade.

Stun nades toss animation is faster.
