Apologies for missing the sarcasm.

The most interest gun comparison for me is TAR vs SCAR.

Both do the same damage. The SCAR is more accurate, but the TAR has a greater Rate of Fire and greater magazine capacity.

The TAR has way too much recoil for me. At my level, a 35, the SCAR is my assault weapon of choice. M4A1 has more recoil to me, and I like the feel of the SCAR combined with heartbeat sensor and holographic sight.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the P90 as much as last time? It just seemed ridiculously overpowered in MW2 and it doesn't seem like as many people are using it as last time. It seems to have more recoil to me, and I know that that goes down once you get the silencer.

I've been using Vectors up until now for my sub class, what is the best submachine gun in the game?

I cannot wait to start grinding the M16, FAMAS, TAR, ACR. I maxed out the SCAR (my fave weapon so far -- but don't hate on me 'cause I haven't used anything else except the M4) and I'm close to maxing the AUG.

The AUG in the grand scheme of things is garbage. For a machine gun I guess it's good 'cause the reload time is next to nothing and the ammo capacity is very high (compared to an assault rifle) but man do I get owned at close range and against weapons with a high rate of fire. My tip to anyone looking to level all the way through this thing: use Stopping Power and then when you're towards the end, add FMJ to it, and it becomes extremely powerful when both are equipped.

Im sure this is already answered somewhere in this long thread - so apologies for bringing it up again.....but, what is the best way to go after guys with the Riot Shields? Other than trying to sneak around behind them?

I just hit Level 17 last night and am starting to be in the top half of the contributors on my team pretty regularly, but I still have a lot of issues with the guys who use the Riot Shield. Last night after unleashing a full clip from my M4 into his shield, I swapped to my bazooka that I typically use to take down UAVs or Helicopters and shot the dude with that :) It worked (and felt good to bring him down!), but that cant be the most effective way.
I've been getting knifed a lot more recently when I'm using the shield. Dunno how the f they do it though :lol And I don't mean getting knifed in the back either. They just rush me from the front & knife my elbow or something before I manage to melee them o_O

Yeah, the P90's definitely been somewhat nerfed in the recoil stakes this time. Doesn't spread too far off course, just bounces around in a constant spasm making it much worse at range than in MW1. I'd personally pick either the Vector or MP5K over it, but all the SMG's have their fair share of +'s and -'s this time I feel.

:lol:lol:lol I am a specialist at this. I'll pursue a riot shielder all day, especially if he's alone. Helps to have Commando on, which I almost always do. If you have Lightweight or Marathon or both, all the better. Anyone can approach a shield straight on, flick to one of his flanks, swing the knife, and done.

I've been toying with using the shield, but the fact that I can so easily kill its users keeps me away from it.

Has anybody else stopped using the heartbeat sensor? I had it on my M16 for awhile, but decided to take it off. I found it to be a little too distracting.

The trick is to not look at it, but to listen for it.

I use the three mentioned perks when I'm using the shield & I still get knifed more often that not :S

I like the HB sensor but haven't been using it as much lately. Been trying out other guns.

I think the P90 is less appealing bc subs in general are less appealing this game. The maps are much bigger this time around. The AR's just seem too good at short, mid, and long range to bother using subs.

Edit: I wish this weren't true as I loved the subs in MW1

He's saying that those perks are counters to shield-users, not necessarily perks for shield-users to have. I've gotta say that I've knifed my fair share of Riot Shielders. I'm not even sure how it happens exactly.

Yeah, I just thought that if both players have the same stuff, shouldn't that cancel it all out? :) If he can knife me, I should be able to smash his head with the shield from the same distance, if both use Commando. But yeah, knives seem to be a very good tactic somehow.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. The P90 seems absolutely horrible at range now and pretty decent in close quarters. Like I said, the silencer probably brings the recoil to reasonable levels, but then it's cutting the range and damage down quite a bit... Seems like with what I've unlocked so far, the MP5 and Vector are the way to go for a submachine gun class. Since I've basically maxed out the Vector, will probably go with MP5 for now, if I do sub. May just go for SCAR until some new weapons open up to me.

The ACR and the M16 are both far, far better than the Scar.

I disagree. The SCAR still holds up well against both of them, and kills fucking fast. How do you justify that opinion? As far as I'm concerned, having played all three extensively, the ACR and SCAR both play exactly the same. The M16 is obviously different, being a burst weapon, and therefore is slightly harder to handle (as well as being god awful as an SMG substitute, though still a great AR at range).

I am about 15 FMJ Challenge kills from mastering the M16 (not kills or headshots, just the master challenge) I mastered the Scar. I got more longshot kills with the Scar, for some reason I'm just not as good at ranged killing with the M16, my KDR is still roughly the same, but as for distance killing I found the Scar to be easier.

I honestly think it's due to the auto fire. Just point and spray and it would kill someone, with the M16 I end up spending to much time trying to aim and either get killed from someone else or the target gets to cover.

Oh, I definitely agree that the full auto ARs are much easier to use than the burst weapons. In the right hands, I think the M16 will hold up at range against the ACR/SCAR, but it definitely takes practice (and it helps if you love the FAMAS, which I didn't at all).

If you liked the SCAR, you'll like the ACR. They're basically the exact same weapon, except that the SCAR has a lower fire rate and higher damage, and the ACR is the opposite. That sounds bad, but they seriously play the same.

So what is everybody's current Perk & Weapon layout for online? It's a long weekend and I'm looking to change things up a bit.

For long range maps (Afghan, Derail) I've been messing around with an ACR with the ACOG and Silencer attachments. Just so much damn fun. That requires Bling Pro, of course. Usually use Stopping Power Pro to help out with the Silencer, and Steady Aim Pro (or Ninja Pro if I get killed by someone with an HBS). It's fun killing people at range without them realizing you were there at all, but being able to do so consistently and with the close range killing power that a Sniper Rifle doesn't allow you.

Secondary: M93 Raffica + Red Dot Sight
Perk 1: Sleight of Hand
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Steady Aim

Yea I unlocked the ACR but have been trying to master the M16 before moving on. Higher fire rate doesn't both me, I probably prefer that to slower but stronger. M16 will probably keep a slot on my classes if only because it's so good on conserving bullets, I normally use Bling or Marathon depending on the mode and still never run out of ammo (of course my KDR is .75 so I'm not exactly alive forever).

EDIT: If you are on the 360 check the online forum for the MW2 thread there. I normally post when I log on incase anyone else is around. I will be hit or miss this weekend though, not sure the plans yet.

The SCAR's short clip limits my play style severely. The M16 is amazing ranged - and IMO its greatest strength. Just point and shoot. If all 3 hit from the single burst, you move on to the next target. Easily my best weapon that I've gotten the highest kill streaks with (weapon alone).

Just wanted to say I've been using sleight of hand so much more than I imagined. I NEVER used it in MW but this time around its one of my most used perks. Anyone else?

Oh, and sniper w/heartbeat plus shotty in small maps is too easy. Haha. I just look for the heartbeats then switch to my shotgun and tear shit up. I can't wait to get my SCAR heartbeat + ACOG. :D

Perk 2: Stopping Power Pro
Perk 3: Ninja Pro

I wreck shit with this setup. Works on any map, very versatile.

My primary blue perks are scavenger or marathon, for range or runners respectively. Almost never use bling or sleight, never use one man army.

Alright man, if you've never heard LCD Soundsystem doing "Daft Punk is Playing at my House," you really must. It really is the best song about Daft Punk that's not actually by Daft Punk. Woo-hoo! North Americans!

I don't know what it is about Call of Duty that brings out the Guidos, wiggas and rednecks, but it's amazing how

A) Xbox Live is exceedingly racist -- Modern Warfare twice so

B) You're about 100% guaranteed to have an annoying stoner, dim-witted loudmouth toughguy, extremely annoying middle school/high school nerd -- or all three -- on one of the teams at all times.

It's almost a relief to hear guys speaking French, 'cause then if they're really annoying, you won't even know about it. :lol

holy shit, thats the same exact 3 types of americans i always end up playing with on xbox live :lol glad its not just me

ACR w/ACOG
M9/Tac Knife
Marathon Pro
Hardline Pro
Commando Pro

Its the only class that I can consistenly get 6 kills in a game so I can start my Kill Streak combo.

I agree with anyone else saying the Akimbo 1887's are HOLY CRAP BROKEN. I got killed by them multiple times yesterday from a good 20-30 feet away while I was filling his face with bullets from human guns. I also got killed with them while I was CLEARLY behind a taxi on one of the maps. They are so much more cheap than the Akimbo rangers.

The SCAR is a great weapon but doesn't have a lot of ammo, so I find Scavenger Pro (start with 2 or 3 times the ammo) works best with it. I use:

Scar + Red Dot Sight or Silencer
AT4 Heat (until i unlock the Stinger)
Perk 1: Scavenger Pro
Perk 2: Cold Blooded
Perk 3: Steady Aim Pro or Ninja

I must be one of the only people that likes Wasteland.
- It's a good map, but also because it's a remake of COD1/COD2's "Brecourt"

I always have a love hate relationship with this map. In COD1 it seemed like a good sniper would just dominate that map.

The new version has much more cover and makes it far easier to close the gap on snipers, but I still feel as if a good sniper will dominate it. Which is fine.

Edit, maybe it is exactly the same as the old map. Memory is failing me I'm my old age.

The following is essential:
AUG + Stopping power pro

Then you can mix up whatever is left depending on your gamestyle or the map.

If you've never tried the AUG - DO SO NOW! All the power of an LMG with less recoil and more accuracy than many of the ARs.

Rarely use it for that reason. I mainly play a speed based style, running around trying to flank and catch people offguard, and using the hbs just slows me down. I like it on sniper rifles though

Meh, I just went into prestige so I don't have my fav load out anymore unfortunately... But old was:

Harrier -> Chopper Gunner -> Nuke

ACR: ACOG, Silencer.
M1014 Shotty or stinger

Scavenger
Cold Blooded
Ninja

And, the ACR > SCAR/M16/etc. It doesn't have as much punch, BUT it's highly accurate even under full auto from the hip. Putting 4 bullets into someone > 2.

Double that up with FMJ while you're working on the challenge and it's very very deadly.

P90 + Silencer
Stinger
Marathon Pro
Cold Blooded
Ninja Pro

Fairly similar setup to my MW1 P90 kit.
Yes, P90 sucks at long range, but with a stealth kit I just try to get a mental GPS going of where the long range baddies are and flank them.

That survivor challenge was a bitch and a half to get. Running out of ammo and surviving long enough to knife someone is surprisingly hard to do.

Note: It doesn't work with the shield combo for some reason. I had a sidearm and a shield, ran out of ammo and stabbed some dude and didn't complete the challenge. I guess you need to wast all of you ammo from two different guns.

Well, so be it. They're not gonna nerf the guns as part of a patch or something. I guess we'll just all be wild westing it on the small maps.

Yeah. In theory, I don't have a problem with duel wielding. But when the two weapons are MORE powerful and MORE accurate than my AR or LMG then the game has fundamental gameplay issues.

I am definitely going to do this when I'm in the advanced grinding stage (50s and 60s). With that much explosives there must be a really high chance of getting kills, even from splash damage.

I have. I figured it would be essential, but I too found it too distracting. The game is too fast paced to be using it. Its only really useful in larger maps with few players imo.

As for perk loadout, I have:
Slight of Hand Pro (Fast reload + Fast aim)
This is essential. When I switched to some other perk in this category, my game went to absolute shit.

Cold Blooded Pro (No UAV,Radar, no red name or red crosshair)
Another one that is very useful. The only way your position is given away now is if you fire without a silencer.

The third one I keep switching to level them up. Mostly I use the hip fire one, still trying to unlock the last one (I believe its last stand?)

For equipment, I have Semtex so I can take out shield guys (its also nice that it has a shorter timer than a standard grenade. I switched to stun grenades because everyone seems to be able to handle a flash much better. Not being able to physically aim is a real killer when you get hit by a stun.
