Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 |OT| Got 99 Problems, But Sales Ain't One.

Question about the pre setup classes, I see that I can't use those guns in my custom classes, is there a reason not to use the preset classes and use better guns?
 
After playing U3 for the last week or so, my eyes hurt playing MW3. This engine really needs to die; yeah I know it's 60fps, but it looks like shit now, and I would say enemies are even harder to see now because of the ultra low res and muddy textures. Campaign-wise, I just don't feel engaged at all.
 
So does anyone find shooting enemies unsatisfying? I don't quiet know how to put it but I feel like I am shooting an empty texture. This is for all CoD games I have felt like this. In comparison games I have the most satisfaction shooting people in is Perfect Dark followed by Halo and then most recently Rage. Does anyone know what I am talking about or is it just me?

WOW this game is HORRIBLE, I loved black ops for taking out quick scoping but this game just brings all the bullshit back. Not to mention every map I have played is god awful. Oh and people completely missing there sniper shots and somehow killing me. Its complete bullshit.

If you're talking about SP, yes. I thought it was REALLY bad in Black Ops. The enemies were just sponges. Feels a little better in this one, but nowhere even close to the satisfaction of something like Rage.

If you like CoD, you will like MW3. Bits borrowed from previous CoD games, plus some alterations to perks that make them good for average players to attain.

Weapons are all op as you die to quick, the maps suck, and the graphics are stale. The sp is alright and that about sums it up.

How I feel about it right now, played for a few hours and just got off it a little while ago:

They're probably going to get me interested in Elite because these maps are pretty weak imo. It's like a modder made these or something. Most of them are completely even with boring routes, COD4 took chances and had interesting layouts. Anyway my main gripe right now is that you're basically dead once you're seen. In COD4 I distinctly remember you being able to have a chance to turn around if you were quick enough and get him. That's not remotely possible here.

tl;dr version - They need to either increase health or decrease damage assault rifles have. You can't fix the maps unfortunately but that'll at least make it more fun.

My main problem with a lot of the maps is as a sniper I can't get shots off in the beginning because there's tons of shit in the way, cars everywhere, walls in front of you etc. Like you have to run 100 ft. to get to a spot where people are running and once you get there you end up getting killed in 1 shot by an assault rifle, frustrating for me.

Yeah, sorry I was talking about SP. And it's not that they are not rag-doll for me as PD didn't have rag-doll. I just can't put my finger on it. But yeah, sponges with no reaction is pretty spot on.

Campaign is good relative to other CoD formula games. Many explosions, no annoying bits like Black Ops (Vietnam barrel section), and it wraps up the story.

In multiplayer the maps are quite small and the health is lower than MW2. Whether you like that is up to you I guess.

Game looks like shit. Gameplay is boring and outdated, sound design is terrible and multiplayer maps are congested and bland.

Also this game engine/design needs to be nuked from orbit.

My main problem is that snipers are useless in COD anyways this is not BF. They just need to remove the class, or make it like it was in black ops. Compensating them with quick scoping is complete garbage, and not to mention that they usually get kills when not even hitting my hitbox. Its ridiculous.

If you're coming for MP, wait until a week after launch or something. People need to learn the maps and good/bad builds need time to surface.

That said, this is the first COD I've enjoyed (but remember I've only played ~4 hours of MP) since COD4. Maps aren't very spawn-trap friendly and there aren't a tonne of choke points, so that's a plus. Depending on who you're playing with (or against, for that matter) the skies will sometimes be almost completely clear of all offensive killstreak rewards, which is awesome. The weapons do kill very fast, as most people have mentioned. The absence of certain perks like marathon and OMA are very welcome, IMO.

I'm surprised at how small every map seems to be. Bringing back killstreak clusterfuck + small maps, great combo
 
This Type 95 made this game very easy, I get the 17 killstreak almost every game now. I now know why people were calling this gun OP :p.
*As I say that I get messed up the next game.

If you boil it down to why the majority of people play CoD, MW3 has you running around, shooting dudes in the face. Fast paced, lots of guns, unlocks up the wazoo, chance to show off your e-peen. MW3 has all that.

Is it a great game? Subjective.

The more they make it like CoD, the more I loose interest in an Arena based Deathmatch game, which is exactly what CoD has become.

Okay, the high damage is getting old now. Gun fights are getting a bit meh when there isn't much you can do to react to gunfire.

Playing the PC version at 1080p and it really looks rather bland and, well, fairly poor. The lackluster art direction definitely doesn't help. Sort of wished I would have picked up the 360 or PS3 version so I wouldn't as easily notice the game's shortcomings.

That's a shame. I really liked that addition by treyarch, made me feel even more badass. What is it 'missing' in comparison to past CoDs? Or is it primarily just a feel thing... ? (I'm still waiting on my copy, was just shipped today)
 
Not getting the hate.

The damage is the same as it was in MW2. To me the transition from MW2 to MW3 is the same is it was from Gears 2 to Gears 3. It's essentially the same game but this time it works, which is what I was expecting and what I wanted.

Can someone explain Founder status to me?

I thought if you redeemed the Elite membership code included in the Hardened edition before a certain date, you were automatically granted Founder status?

So do I have two means of getting founder status?

Hows its running on PC? I would check the steam forums but there still down. I'm thinking of jumping in again, haven't played a CoD since CoD4 is this the best one yet? I remember back when Black Ops was released it was plagued with terrible performance issues like stuttering, so I waited for that stuff to get ironed first but ultimately just lost all my hype for it and never got it.

Agreed completely. I wouldn't change the damage output on multiplayer at all. Also, I think the game is good overall. You can tell their main focus was fluid gameplay.

I feel like there is either some funny business going on with the netcode or something because the guns sometimes feel like they kill me in 1-2 hits, even full auto SMGs. I don't just die fast, I die instantly. I'm going to stop playing matchmaking and go onto some dedicated servers and see if I still get the same bullshit.
