Seriously doubt any of you are getting those results at home unless of course you run some sort of IT business out of your house :p

I hate that whenever someone posts a connection speed picture you get 50 others trying to top it or show how shitty theirs is by comparison.

There's an OT thread for this stuff, guys.

my apologies for contributing to the OT tangent.

Carbon is a great map for SMG/Shotgun specialist builds. take your time, check your corners and you have great success

[edit]
have to agree with interchange not being that great. i seem to have terrible luck making any kind of good runs on that map regardless of my build

I can play COD from work :). I did not mean to derail this thread.

OT: I too hate Village. Only map I can't seem to get my head around. I have some success hanging out around the bridge / village area but if I set foot in the caves I'm done.

I honestly do not know how you guys are enjoying the normal play lists in MW3. I just can not enjoy them after hundreds of hours of past COD games.

HOWEVER.. Kill Confirmed is amazing even with the horrible maps. But this mode alone has rescued MW3 online.

Having a lot of fun with the game. Just beat the campaign, which was very good (although despite all the action felt like it lacked at least one more chase or something, dunno) and just started Spec Ops which I feel so far is more fun/less annoying than in MW2.

I feel SP lacked that one OMFG moment like the nuke in COD4 or No Russian/Space section in MW2 etc.

It was a very good end to the trilogy, though. Just not quite as good as the other two.

I decided to stop playing multi untill they patch the lag it's not fun being 2 secs behind. I know how I played previous COD games, excluding BLOPs it was garbage with no hit detection just like MW3 is now to some extend.

Really? I thought it had quite a few.
The part where that van explodes near the family almost made me fall out of my chair. Also when Soap dies I was distraught; I mean YOU were Soap in COD4, they just brought the whole trilogy together so well.

If only multiplayer were as good. I will say I'm enjoying CTF and Demolition, and generally I think the maps are better in objective gametypes than in TDM or Kill Confirmed. Dome, for instance, which is an absolute disaster of a map, is a lot of fun in Demolition.

For whatever reason though, I absolutely cannot stand Domination. Not in MW3, not in any of the past CODs. Which is weird considering I was a HUGE fan of Battlefield 2 and 2142 back in my PC days, and those games were essentially only Domination. But there the game was strategic, here it feels more clusterfucky to me. Maybe it's because the maps aren't nearly as big as they are in BF? Dunno.

The OMFG Moment in MW2 for me was definitely the
Shepherd betrayal scene where he kills you and Ghost :O
In MW3, it's probably after
soap dies and Captain Price punches you down the stairs, lol.

The former seemed to try too forced and the latter had no impact on me, personally.

Maybe I've hit many bad hosts, but this game is unplayable choppy on PS3 today
it's been choppy all the time no maybes. I have better connection in COD4 with two ping bars then in MW3 with four.

Oh, COME ON.
Every single online videogame has a standard deathmatch & TDM of some kind. Can't really call CoD out on it.
At least they have well over a dozen different playlists & more than any other comparable games.

No one seems to be calling out Battlefield, even though they added nothing to the standard Rush/Conquest/TDM over the years or the Crysis 2 MP, which it did nothing over the standard FPS modes.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
I can't decide between Kick or Focus on my ARs, and keep flip-flopping between the two. I feel like they both have their benefits, but at the same time I can definitely live without them. Maybe I'd be better off just going with two attachments — red dot sight and extended mags I guess? I loved the holographic in MW2 but I feel like it obstructs my view in this game for some reason.

I'm glad I didn't comb over the war journal you get with the Hardened edition thoroughly before I went through single player.
Turns out it's Soap's. The last entry is right before he dies :(

Man I love the Type 95 in this game. It is so surgical, put the Focus proficiency on it, red dot and you are set. Had a nice multi-kill earlier today with it. 4 trigger taps, 4 different enemies all dead, not a single bullet missed.

Going to have to give it a go i unlocked it on saturday.

I love this period sorting out which guns your going to mainline with.

Slap the two attachment efficiency on and put red dot and rapid fire. Insta kill!

I don't know how, but Carbon manages to feel more cramped than Dome.

Yeah. Dome is small but somewhat open. The only open spot in Carbon is covered from above by half a dozen walkways.

Since the levels are so small and tight, the sub machine guns REALLY shine. Basically all the guns with a high rate of fire seem to dominate on these maps. Long range weaponry, other than snipers, really seems to take a backseat.

I never used anything other than assault rifles in the previous CODs, but this game is a completely different ballgame.

Type 95 + Kick + Rapid Fire

Sleight of Hand Pro
Hardline Pro
Steady Aim Pro

I've been running with this and I've absolutely been owning everybody with this set-up.

Steady Aim is REALLY good in this game. I use my Type 95 as a CQC weapon, because with Rapid Fire and Steady Aim I don't even have to aim when I rush around corners. People fall like flies.

so amazing.

Hardline Pro with Care Package as a killstreak seems almost unfair.

Just went 39-4, 20-2, and 24-3 the last three Kill Confirmed I played.

I'm absolutely loving this set-up. I'm rank 79 and it's gonna hurt me inside to Prestige. :(

Don't prestige. I'm not. Not worth it.

I really hope one of the map packs for this game massively upgrades Spec Ops survival mode.

Make it four players.
Add more defense items like minefields, manual turrets, etc.

That's the only way I'd buy a Call of Duty map pack.

I didn't prestige in BLOPS, and I'm thinking of not doing it this time, either. There's an even greater disparity between levels in MW3, and it makes a big difference in how well you do. Bigger than before.

Looks like you will have to wait for Black Ops 2 next year then. Plus more Zombies of course.

Prestige with a PP90M and bam. BAM!
Gonna be completely honest here, I don't understand the PP90 hype.
Regarding SMGs, I started using the good ol' UMP, then switched to the MP5.
Then earlier today I tried out all the other ones, including obviously the PP90, and to be honest, I didn't think it was that great.

On the bright side, I found out I like the P90 haha.

I like the P90 and MP7 both better than the PP90, I don't really get it either.

Also am I missing something with the FAD? Thing is super accurate and is a bullet hose, but I seemed to still be getting way more mileage out of my ACR than it, so I carried over my ACR when I prestiged instead.

Don't think I'm going to. Weapon leveling just takes too long. The other stuff isn't a big deal, but I use every weapon in the game, so re-leveling just means I have less toys to play with, and less toys with full attachments/proficiencies.

Know what you mean. I'm level 64 but I have at least half the weapons at level 10 or higher.
It's gonna be a big decision whether or not I decide to prestige, not to mention how many times I'll let myself throw away all that progress.

Dude I just went through it. Holy shit.

This is the first COD where I've gone into multiplayer before beating the campaign. After the first mission I got bored and jumped online...not a good sign.

The multiplayer maps are the worst in the series, everything feels cramped and there are way too many places to hide. Kill confirmed is a great mode but I wish they would bring back gun game and one in the chamber from BLOPS.

To me the damage seems to be too high, if an enemy spots you first you have absolutely no chance at fighting back because your health is so low which is frustrating. The shotgun range still needs to be nerfed and grenade damage needs to come back up.

As for guns, I dabbled with the AR's and sniper rifles before settling on the UMP45. In the right hands it is one beast of a gun. Haven't run into any problems with the Type 95.

The problem with the maps isn't necessarily that they are small, but that they are CLUTTERED.

There is crap EVERYWHERE. Blown up cars, buses, buildings, boxes, etc. So many places to hide. So many places for people to camp and stay hidden when they shoot, making it impossible to fire back, even if you spot them first.

I think there are ways to deal with it, like knowing where those hotspots are for people to hide and camp, but even then there are a ton of deaths that come from people firing from positions that make them practically invisible.
