Thank you. It's the "we believe in generations" quote again. Completely take out of context.

You mean the texture issue? That a number of people in this very thread don't have? Sounds like a bug to me. Not surprising, Sony is quite bad at this PC porting thing and takes a couple of post release patches to get it right. But it doesn't fix the pop-ins. Seems there's a bottleneck somewhere.
For a 2 year old PS5 game:
No. HDDs are old tech and had a good enough run,SSDs are the new baseline now so older tech shouldn't be taken into consideration now. That people are weirdly invested in the mystical magic of the PS5 I/O complex and feel the need to vigorously defend it against HDD interlopers.
PS5 is such a beast. Mark Cerny really nailed the I/O aspect of the console. Can't wait to play Spider-Man 2!
When I built my PC in 2021, it was the first time I used an SSD for the drive. I cannot believe I waited so long. I dont use mechanical drives anymore.No. HDDs are old tech and had a good enough run,SSDs are the new baseline now so older tech shouldn't be taken into consideration now.
In your link the image quality on the PC also looks a little cleaner. My fault Midn1ght.Alex probably played an older version. Here's directly from FAGAMEZ video (4090 as well)
And here to compare with John's PS5
Yes sorry the texture assets and details. NXG tested multiple configurations. You mean the texture issue? That a number of people in this very thread don't have? Sounds like a bug to me. No he clearly said he will come out with another video testing on greater hardware. That's why he started off with saying: "spoiler alert".There are numerous videos and screenshots in this thread that show no texture issues at all. NXG also doesn't have anything close to top end hardware either. His best Nvidia GPU is a near 5 year old 2070 coupled to a processor that is worse then the one in the PS5.
His only other GPU is a 6800 as far as I'm aware. RT can't even be enabled on that, another sign of a great port of course. No he clearly said he will come out with another video testing on greater hardware. That's why he started off with saying: "spoiler alert".
Such a monsterAll this hardware for a game that doesn't come close to maxing PS5 I/O. Meanwhile PS5 like:
Let's see what he's got to show off. Right now his statements are aligned with what DF said. His only other GPU is a 6800 as far as I'm aware. RT can't even be enabled on that, another sign of a great port of course.
textures look slightly worse on PC , even on a 4090 with a fast CPU and SSD
much worse if you zoom in
there it is folks, ps5 SSD myth is real
All signs of a poor port. Anisotropic filtering and RT issues have got nothing to do with I/O or DirectStorage.Let's see what he's got to show off. Right now his statements are aligned with what DF said.
"Textures not loading in, anisotropic filtering issues, RT reflections looking better on PS5 in many instances, RT shadows pop-in and sometimes looking worse on PC."
Most say it's a great port? RT is streamed on PS5 using it's I/O. That's why Nvidia RTX IO came along: https://www.techspot.com/news/99449...y-emerges-games-supporting-directstorage.htmlAll signs of a poor port. Anisotropic filtering and RT issues have got nothing to do with I/O or DirectStorage.
That 47 fps dip... Yikes might want to lock it at 30 and get that smooth cinematic feel until the 5090 comes out./s I do hate stutters more than low frame rates though.
RT and I/O have got nothing to do with each other. RT is all GPU/CPU compute reliant. Nvidia simply brands it's GPU decompression as RTX for marketing purposes. Most say it's a great port? No need for a pro for now.PS5 Pro is scratching his balls as he watching his little brother PS5 shagging a $4,000+ PC.
Some people in here really bought into the whole "PS5 SSD is a scam!" This proves it's not a scam.
Eat crow.
"Intel and AMD also have plugins for GPU decompression through DirectX and DirectStorage, but it's unclear whether they're compatible with Vulkan, which RTX IO fully supports. If not, then GPU decompression for Vulkan titles could be exclusive to RTX GPUs in the short term."RT and I/O have got nothing to do with each other. RT is all GPU/CPU compute reliant. It's also not a great port as NXG and DF are pointing out a number of issues already.
Lol what’s wrong with you people!?
I see the game running fine on mechanical hdds with only a sec or 2 load in the one “ big sequence “. That’s not unplayable. It doesn’t do that with actual gameplay portals.
Game runs perfectly fine on a decent rig even with a 7200 rpm hdd.
we got actual confirmation that the PS5 SSD and I/O are real and that you do need an SSD to run rift apart. Insomniac and Cerny were correct.
Game's still on PC, though. & the port is really good with minor issues
Have you even seen DF or NXG vids, lol?! This is either the dumbest post in this thread or you're coping real hardThe whole SSD fable has been well and truly crushed, and will go down as a gaming meme now.
And that comment isn't even directed at Sony. Both consoles have SSDs and both promised up a gaming revolution that wasn't possible on the previous generation. All we have seen is some quicker loading screens, that's fucking it. And, that includes from both companies first party studios.
They never said it was only possible on the PlayStation 5's SSD. The journalist wrote that which did not reflect what the Insomniac dev was saying.Look, Sony has a long track record of bullshit when it comes to their tech. One of the fun things was watching the horseshit fake CGI "demos" showing off how powerful their consoles were.
To think a Sony studio might bullshit a little bit to pump up their console? Yeah, of course.
It was shown to be possible on HDDs with Fortnite, and only the dumbest of fanboys would have been saying that it was only possible on the PS5 and no other.

Look at the post right above this. You must have misunderstood something lol.So yes I stand by my statement. That two sec pause on a 7200 rpm hdd of all
Things is completely playable.
Sure, but what does that have to do with the fact that this game appears to be running well on an HDD in multiple video examples that several individuals can't seem to get past? No. HDDs are old tech and had a good enough run,SSDs are the new baseline now so older tech shouldn't be taken into consideration now.
It's not the HDD, but DirectStorage - like it's not the SSD but the I/O in PS5.Sure, but what does that have to do with the fact that this game appears to be running well on an HDD in multiple video examples that several individuals can't seem to get past?
Yeah, this is strange how people keep misconstruing that quote. Insomniac was only developing the game for PS5, so within the context of "not possible without the PS5 SSD", it obviously meant that if they didn't have it, they wouldn't be able to make Rift Apart the way they wanted. They never said it was only possible on the PlayStation 5's SSD. The journalist wrote that which did not reflect what the Insomniac dev was saying.
He said instant dimension shifting would not be possible without the SSD on the PS5.
And using common sense, making this game on previous hardware would have been possible if you were willing to wait minutes for levels to load.
Nothing was "truly crushed," it's just your lack of understanding.
Have you even seen DF or NXG vids, lol?! This is either the dumbest post in this thread or you're coping real hard
R&C:RA is a truly nextgen game way ahead of its time! - and that's not even debatable anymore.
Insomniac also said it wouldn't run on PS4 - and that's a fact. The only reason it runs on PC is because DirectStorage.Yeah, this is strange how people keep misconstruing that quote. Insomniac was only developing the game for PS5, so within the context of "not possible without the PS5 SSD", it obviously meant that if they didn't have it, they wouldn't be able to make Rift Apart the way they wanted.
It's not like Insomniac had a suped up PC ready to run the game and went "fuck, it can't run on that PC, we need the PS5's SSD".
Nice try. It only became possible with Nvidia RTX IO and DirectStorage just recently released. Ratchet is a 2 year old PS5 game that still loads faster than DirectStorage. What are you talking about? The whole conversation was the game couldn’t run at all without Sonys ssd secret sauce. That it would take loooong loading scenes and wasn’t possible.
That has quite clearly been debunked. Now you guys want to “ better than ps5 “ on a sdcard or its unplayable! .
It's been proven true, it can't run on PS4.What are you talking about? The whole conversation was the game couldn’t run at all without Sonys ssd secret sauce. That it would take loooong loading scenes and wasn’t possible.

Way ahead of its time? It's a fucking platformer game, with a Fortnite rift rip off.Have you even seen DF or NXG vids, lol?! This is either the dumbest post in this thread or you're coping real hard
R&C:RA is a truly nextgen game way ahead of it's time! - and that's not even debatable anymore.
Only because of Nvidia RTX IO and DirectStorage - just released... lolWay ahead of its time? It's a fucking platformer game, with a Fortnite rift rip off.
It's literally running on PCs with a HDD. It literally runs perfect on SSDs far slower than the PS5 one.
It's so far from ahead of its time, it's not even fucking funny.
It's not my lack of understanding that's the issue, it's the lack of any amazing game revolution from the SSDs. We are half way through the generation, and there not one game either released, or announced that is revolutionary like we were told they would be.They never said it was only possible on the PlayStation 5's SSD. The journalist wrote that which did not reflect what the Insomniac dev was saying.

Talk about cope.Only because of Nvidia RTX IO and DirectStorage - just released... lol
2 year old game still runs better on PS5 tho'.
You keep talking about SSD's and HDD's without ever giving consideration it's PS5 I/O and DirectStorage that's the real topic. That's why you can use a slower SSD on PS5 and it still runs great. You can't run it on PS4, cause it doesn't have the same I/O as PS5 or DirectStorage.Talk about cope.
You honestly think that the PS5 has anything to do with you perceived better running than PC?
Dude, it's getting embarrassing at this point.
SSDs were the right move from a tech point of view, but those people who were running around talking about the power of the SSD, and im guessing you were one of them, got hoodwinked.
This brings into question, how is it running on Deck if there's neither a speedy I/O or Directstorage? You can't run it on PS4, cause it doesn't have the same I/O as PS5 or DirectStorage.

It is.It's not my lack of understanding that's the issue, it's the lack of any amazing game revolution from the SSDs. We are half way through the generation, and there not one game either released, or announced that is revolutionary like we were told they would be.
Don't worry, I'm glad to have an SSD, as I hate loading times, but the amount of hyperbole that some clowns were running with, is yes, well and truly crushed.
I guess you might have been one of those people who went full retard about the power of the SSD?
Microsoft on the other hand waited for the full RDNA 2 feature set. The merging of RDNA 2 and DX12 Ultimate was a match made in heaven.
VRS was going to add mad extra frames with no loss of detail.
The Steam Deck uses AMD hardware, not Nvidia. Unless RTX IO is compatible with whatever, and i forgot somethingI'm pretty sure it's using Nvidia RTX IO through Vulkan on Deck.
NXGamer says they used DirectStorage 1.2 for the Steam Deck:The Steam Deck uses AMD hardware, not Nvidia. Unless RTX IO is compatible with whatever, and i forgot something
Don't have many accounts of how the game works on AMD.
