Can it run on PS4?Some people in here really bought into the whole "PS5 SSD is a scam!" This proves it's not a scam.
Eat crow.
Should be timestamped, but this is Rift Apart running on a Steam Deck with SD card.
I was wrong, I'll admit. But i'm not eating no god damn crow. shit looks disgustingSome people in here really bought into the whole "PS5 SSD is a scam!" This proves it's not a scam.

Can it run on PS4?
DirectStorage is a scamactually its direct storage doing the work but still meh compared to hardware unit on ps5 doing transfer speed to do it...other people see its all about SSD but in reality its all about transfer speed
we got actual confirmation that the PS5 SSD and I/O are real and that you do need an SSD to run rift apart. Insomniac and Cerny were correct. So what did we learn today?
So what did we learn today?
we should be doing 6700xt comparisons as that card is only slightly more powerful than the ps5, plus they have a similar AMD featureset.
oh hey, you're here Rivet judging by the laughing emoji on one of my posts. So, will you change your avatar & name now that rift apart is on PC?
lol no. Just teasing based on their avatar. Was there a bet on this ?
lol no. Just teasing based on their avatar.
you should've seen the one i had before this one.
where i got this masterpiece of an avatar from btw
oh my fucking god lmao.... bro gotta be trippin
Dude must have seen the check from Microsoft if he's making faces like that
you should've seen the one i had before this one.
Actually not funny damn when did this happen? I initially laughed
lol no. Just teasing based on their avatar.
He is not human and we had testimony at a Congressional hearing today the US is in possession of "non human biologics"
First with the Activision thing (no objections from MS)He is not human and we had testimony at a Congressional hearing today the US is in possession of "non human biologics"
SSD downplaying? If Microsoft could replicate the PS5's specialized hardware architecture with a single DirectX API then it isn't ALL that. They were able to replicate in code what took Mark Cerny a specialized hardware design to do.
They did the best they could for a first impressions video. They had the absolute high end, near match for minimum spec and then the best non 120hz PS5 mode (due to mentioned hardware limitations). I'm sure Rich could have done the PS5 side of things but then we would have missed one of the most interesting parts of the video, how the game runs on a minimum spec PC. And for what? Making the poor PS5 look slightly better? When they already had like three videos covering that version of the game?Their entire job is to critique graphics. They are critics by definition. And they are not above criticism. If I see them using flawed methodology, I am going to call them out, sorry.
Again, this is not the first time.
Even then he didn't meet minimum specs. I guess its hard to find an old GPU/CPU. He also used an SSD.They did the best they could for a first impressions video. You are getting worked up and shitting on DF over slightly reduced crowd density. Which will likely be touched upon when the actual analysis video comes out.
So many people grabbed onto that first video where the Dev says the transitions were only possible at that speed on the PS5 and they turned it into the game is only possible on the PS5WTF is happening?! Seems even NeoGAF is struggling at streaming copium at the moment.

They really think they're proving something here. This sequence is meant to play out at breakneck speed; slowing it down to such a low level really kills the rush you're supposed to feel here.
How so? Loading appears to be one of the things that works well. A 3.5 GBs drive nearly matches the PS5. It's like 1/5 of a second slower without any of the dedicated hardware that a PC has. Seems it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do.DirectStorage is a scam
That people are weirdly invested in the mystical magic of the PS5 I/O complex and feel the need to vigorously defend it against HDD interlopers. So what did we learn today?
They missed the important part.So many people grabbed onto that first video where the Dev says the transitions were only possible at that speed on the PS5 and they turned it into the game is only possible on the PS5
The quote
The SSD is screamingly fast. It allows us to build worlds and project players from one place to another in near instantaneous speeds. It is an unbelievable game-changer in terms of we can now do gameplay where you’re in one world and the next moment you’re in another. We’re loading up levels and that happens so quickly and in the action that you don’t even imagine that this is something we couldn’t do before, because it feels so natural. Long gone are loading screens. Now it’s all about bringing exciting new adventures.
Huh? I thought the GPU is dedicated hardware. How so? Loading appears to be one of the things that works well. A 3.5 GBs drive nearly matches the PS5. It's like 1/5 of a second slower without any of the dedicated hardware that a PC has. Seems it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do.
A 570 and 470 are very close though. Only a small clock speed difference.Even then he didn't meet minimum specs. I guess its hard to find an old GPU/CPU. He also used an SSD.

It's okay.. Just not as great as PS5's I/O. Guess no one never stated it would be...How so? Loading appears to be one of the things that works well. A 3.5 GBs drive nearly matches the PS5. Yeah but a 960 2GB is also minimum specs, those two cards do not perform the same. The SSD isn't a HDD either.A 570 and 470 are very close though. Only a small clock speed difference.
I mean yeah, but it's dedicated hardware every PC gamer would have, unless you're one of those APU guys.Huh? I thought the GPU is dedicated hardware.
Likely don't have a 960. Rich did try the HDD but it kept crashing for him. He actually went through two motherboards as well, the first one blew, second one didn't work, and then finally got one working.Yeah but a 960 2GB is also minimum specs, those two cards do not perform the same. It's really weird that's the min spec GPU, did they mean a 970?Likely don't have a 960. Rich did try the HDD but it kept crashing for him. He actually went through two motherboards as well, the first one blew, second one didn't work, and then finally got one working.
They also mention that they find it highly unlikely the 960 could work due to the 2GB of VRAM.
Yeah, it's a limitation of the game. 3.5GBps drive performs the same as a 7GBps drive. Same behaviour as PS5 where a much slower SSD matches the 5.5GBps one.The PS5 version wasn’t using max SSD performance. Insomniac said that R&C was been developed based on earlier PS5 hardware. It wasn’t even maxing out the SSD Capebilities.
It's the first GPU DirectStorage game ever released and the difference in loading is on the order of milliseconds. It's okay.. Just not as great as PS5's I/O. Guess no one never stated it would be...

But it doesn't fix the pop-ins. Seems there's a bottleneck somewhere. It's the first GPU DirectStorage game ever released and the difference in loading is on the order of milliseconds.
