Canadian Gaming "Deals" and Discussion Thread 6: Sorry, We Can't Afford a New Thread

I really hope they ask us what we want to do and I hope an option to take both versions at the 30% off is an option.

I doubt that would happen (at least not without a lot of badgering) but it would be pretty nice. I'm obviously going to play all three campaigns, but if I can get a physical copy of the second game for 30% off it might not even be much more expensive than the DLC itself.

Question:

Can I bring in an old receipt and price match it?

I bought Sony gold headset from Walmart maybe 3 weeks ago. This week I see Best Buy has it on sale for $89. I can take my receipt and headset into Walmart and get them to price match, correct?

Edit: this is my first time price matching at anywhere other than grocery store so I'm not sure. Also with the time factor.

As long as the refund period is still good you should be good. It should state on the receipt when the last day to do anything with the product may be.

Where is the best ps4 console deal? I don't need a lot of extras.
Shop.ca I guess using retailmenot.ca coupon $50 off for orders $125+. Depending on your province (ON for me), I can get two dualshock 4 for $96.8 or $48 each.

edit: Sorry, not working anymore.

I wonder if I can get a good Xbox One deal this way?

Edit: it days right there on the fine print the $50 can't be used on video games and video game consoles.
Anybody aware of any good XB1 deals? No extras required. Just the console.

Ah, I guess they fixed it now. It was usable in the past few months with video consoles.

Ah it's all good. They only have the MCC bundle with an extra controller for $458 lol. So the coupon would bring it down to $399 which is what it sells for regularly and I don't need the extra controller.

I decided to check my Future shop order for The Division...old CC, old address.

I phone Best Buy and they updated my CC, but they couldn't do my address as another part of the order had shipped. Crazy system. So they told me to open a best buy order and they'd apply the same price to it that I had on my old FS order.

So I did.

After calling back again they put a $40 discount on the order to bring me down to the 39.99 price I had with Future Shop...but of course the $40 discount is on the after tax price?? She said I'd be paying $49.59.

The extra $5 isn't a big deal and from the crapulence I've read here about trying to get orders changed I'll take this as a success. Still better than that $89.59.

Of course I look at the order now and it's still sitting at full price. Come on BB, don't make me call a third time.

Y'all are starting to make me paranoid about my FS orders from 2013 and my Persona 5 pre-order. If I can't change the mailing address and credit card on those orders without losing the sale prices, I'd never step foot inside a Best Buy again.

EDIT: Decided to rip the bandaid off and call in. The Best Buy order was no problem, but the Future Shop orders are giving the person on the phone trouble. Shipping address doesn't want to change for some reason. Fingers crossed.

Follow-up: I now have a Best Buy order with all the games from my Future Shop pre-orders, and a promise of credits against the order as each game ships to match the original E3 price. First one's Metal Gear Solid V in two weeks, so I'll know soon enough if I need to make another call or not. The phone rep said the refunds wouldn't show on the invoice until the credit card gets charged, so we'll see.

All in all, I guess it could've been much, much more painful, but holy shit Best Buy needs to update their order fulfillment and invoicing systems.

PS4 Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Beta Tokens

I have two to give away and I'd rather give them away to CanadaGaf.

First two people to inbox me the correct answer to this question get a PS4 beta token.

(I'm making you atleast work for it a bit when you google for the answer)

Question:

Who is the highest Canadian draft pick currently on the Minnesota Wild roster?

EDIT: I was right.

Ugh, I made the mistake of cancelling Devil's Third from my 3-games Amazon E3 order from 2 years ago (the first time Amazon had E3 deals), so I lost part of the discount on the other unreleased game in that order (Yoshi Whooly World). Is there any chance they can re-add Devil's Third to my order at the same price it was before, and gain back the discount? ...of course, I'd probably re-cancel Devil's Third as soon as I'd receive my discounted Yoshi, as the game looks pretty bad!

EDIT: Chatted with CS and they re-added Devil's Third. It did not re-add the 30% discount to the whole order, but the CS manually applied the 30% discount to Devil's Third, meaning I have it in my order for $45. Still not sure if I'll keep it as it really doesn't look great unfortunately, but that's still a very nice gesture from Amazon considering the loss of the discount was entirely my fault.

It's official, I had to cancel my $48 MGS pre-order from BB because they wouldn't change my shipping info. They wouldn't even cancel the order and re-order it for me for the same price.

I don't know how anyone ever got their address changed. Two emails, three calls. It's not worth the effort anymore.

Yikes. I'm pretty sure my FS pre-orders for FFXV and MGS V are using an outdated credit card. Now I'm scared to call 'em - actually, do they even still have a customer service department anymore??

Customers can access their order details through futureshop.ca, or please contact our Customer Service Centre by email or by calling 1-866-BEST-BUY (1-866-237-8289).

Should be good.

I just called BB to have a FS order fixed. The agent couldn't change the adress so she recreated 3 orders and applied the original price to each one of them, non refunds, no 30$ after tax bullshit, straight up 40$ games (xenoblade, yoshi and smt vs fe)

Took a while but she was amazing

I just checked, I need to update my CC on my order too.

I wonder if I should cancel the MGSV PS4 order. It's a good price for a new console release ($40) but I wonder if the PC version would be a better overall experience.. and probably hit $40 within 6 months.

My experience from yesterday:

- changing payment expiry date and address is totally fine for both Best Buy and Future Shop orders
- changing shipping address is mostly fine for Best Buy orders (the rep had some trouble initially but it eventually went through)
- changing shipping address is screwed up for Future Shop orders and will likely require you to remake the order on Best Buy and then call back in for a price adjustment that isn't reflected on your invoice on the website but in theory should be refunded to you within a week of each game shipping (so basically SAVE YOUR FUTURE SHOP INVOICES in case they screw this up).

In your particular case, you should be okay unless your rep sucks. As usual, it helps to be nice on the phone!

No, they can adjust the price on the order itself, there's no need for a refund at a later date but them can only do it on single item orders. I just had a rep create 3 orders for me (smt vs fe, yoshi and xenoblade) and they all show 45,98 (total including taxes)

Sigh. Well I guess I'm calling in again. Like I say, the $5 isn't a big deal but I can see that the price on my new BB order is still full price and no indication of a refund coming. I'm not trusting this to stick around in 6 months when The Division eventually releases.

I've been looking for any deals for a used PS4, ideally around the $250-300 range. I know it's a long shot, but $500 (plus tax) for a new console is ridiculous, and I'm hoping that someone can help me out.

I pre-ordered 17 games in one order during E3 2014 at BestBuy and I haven't been able to access the order details for at least 6 months now. My other orders with 3 games each are fine but every time I try to check this big order I get this error:

The following errors occurred:
We are currently unable to retrieve your order. Please try again later. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Service. (0141)

Anyone else have this problem?

Had the same order problem with them... all my pre-orders still showed as full price after they did whatever they do, and I was getting charged full price when the game shipped, but I was getting refunded the difference within a day or two of the game shipping.

When does Amazon charge for pre orders? A couple days before like Best Buy or on the day of shipping?

Amazon tends to charge as soon as it ships

So if they ship it overnight they charge the night before it delivers, if they ship it first thing in the morning they charge in the morning.

Is there anything I can do about my package being stuck in Customs? Will CBSA help me to get some info or something?
Canada Post says they can't do anything, just wait.

Anyone where to grab Wiimotes and Nunchucks for cheap? Juts got a Wii U and I wanna play some Wii games.

Refurbs from store.nintendo.com

I was afraid this was the case, unfortunately shipping kills the deal and just a pair of white refurbs costs ~$42. :( I guess I'll just buy used and wash them with acid. >.<

I'm still surprised that the Nintendo store still has the Wii Fit U with the balance board, going for $30. I'm tempted at maybe getting it, but will I actually use it?

Worst case scenario (you end up not using it), it's still useful as a weight scale?

Nintendo really did not put much effort into wii fit u at all. It is a decent price for a scale if you don't mind spending 5 minutes each time you weigh yourself. And fitbit, although more expensive, is much better than the ninty pedometer. I was super disappointed with wii fit u.
