Makes you wonder about the nature of the contract with Nintendo. Both parties always said that no money exchanged hands. So maybe it truly was just a gentleman's agreement that became unviable.

Or else money did exchange hands, but Nintendo couldn't risk enforcing complete exclusivity because they're keeping an eye on the future and need to maintain good capcom relations.

From the press release they talk about gamers voicing opinions and... shareholders *ding ding*

It makes a lot of sense financially. A lot of people have been saying this would happen for a long time. You can't really ignore the biggest selling console with your biggest franchise.

But this could have been a big cube seller. Nintendo dropped the fucking ball. No doubt about it. Although I personally think Zelda: Link of the Rings looks like shit, that game and RE4 could have given the cube a dignified bow out at the end of the cycle. I'm sure a lot of next years games will be great... but will anyone outside of the current userbase know it?

I didn't expect them to announce the port before the shipment of the GC version. This will, in fact, damage GC sales (derived from RE4).

I got both systems so this news is okay with me, good to see more exposure for this game I'd say. ;)
With that said, I'll probably be getting the GC version though.

That's why I want to see what he has to say. The release date for the PS2 version is also interesting since Late 2005 is the scheduled release date for a certain sequel to a game that he's not too fond of. :)

Back to the first showing of RE4 he appeared in a screen through net-meeting (he had to stay in Japan) to introduce people to RE4's presentation. He said: "Don't pee your pants" in an obvious reference to how scary the game would be.
