PS5/4 lead the way with 3.08 million units, followed by the Nintendo Switch with a respectable 1.21 million units. The Xbox trails significantly with just 0.21 million units. These figures highlight Capcom's strong performance on PlayStation platforms.

What game(s) did they release on switch this year? I only remember random collections like fighting game collections and the Phoenix Wright collection

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
I thought PC is number 1 platform split based on the capcom report few days ago? or im confused?

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Consoles: FY3/2024 Cumulative | 19.75M
PC: FY3/2024 Cumulative | 21.6M

Just pure nuts.

Xbox barely has a shelf in a lot of stores in Australia, this was meant to be one of their popular locations.

I heard this was the same for a lot of places in the world.

It would be fantastic to see the kickback on digital subscription revenue (gamepass, geforce now, luna, etc).

If they are raking in enough revenue to be equivalent to another 1.5- 3 million in physical copy sales revenue it might mean that 230k copies sold on xbox is just a cherry on top of the cake!

i think the Xbox ports have their own budget. it would be more productive/efficient for Capcom (or any other publisher) for those Xbox consumers to move to PC or Playstation instead

Sure get them on platforms where they can drive direct engagement in their past/current catalogue of games.
But if capcom is selling 400k copies of RE2 Remake on sony's platform in quarter 2, in that same quarter they only sell 1,500 copies of re2 remake for Xbox BUT receive "engagement dollars" from gamepass that equal 300K physical copies, Capcom would be thrilled, right?

Narrator: "They are NOT"

I would just like to see the receipts is all. Maybe it is buried in their year end financials somewhere...

who knows how companies are choosing to make these deals. or even MS's flexibility to make them.

one would assume GaaS like Exoprimal would benefit from an "engagement dollars" deal, while single player titles could benefit from a fix rate.

i also think the "engagement" on Xbox has to be lower per game (on Game Pass) compared to people who buy the same game even on Xbox itself.

It's not expensive to port games from PS5 to XSX, it mostly comes down to recompiling the game and switching the icons in any text. Even better if you get a gamepass contract.

The bigger problem is the XSS.

I expect at some point we're going to see more and more games being delayed like BG3 and Wukong.
Capcom uses their own engine and at some point it just doesn’t become worth it to have your engine team keep supporting Xbox.

Xbox: 0.21M units

It's very hard, and on top of that it's the platform for which you have to release two versions, one super optimized for S-Series and the normal one for X-Series. If Microsoft doesn't give you money to put it on Gamepass, the port to Xbox makes no sense.

Gamepass has cannibalized the Xbox brand, it's a shame.

But most PlayStation sells are also Digital now
While this is true, the margins are way different per platform. According to Circana numbers from earlier this year, Nintendo Switch is 53% digital, PlayStation is 78% digital and Xbox is 91% digital.

So 1 in 4 PlayStation games sales are physical while it's 1 in 10 for Xbox. Nintendo is basically 50/50. This is why in most stores now (at least near me) you see the Switch section is twice as big as PlayStation and the Xbox section is a tiny corner off to the side.

Why talk out your ass? The shelf space in JB & EB is the exact same as Sony.

The bulk of Xbox sales are digital the bulk of xboxs can’t even do physical, only 1 in 10 is physical on sales from numerous reports so if we want to go off those stats capcom still would have sold at least 1m titles digitally on xbox with 200,000k physical.

In reality this would be

Xbox 2.33m total vs PlayStation 14m total & Switch 2.57m total

Are these just physical shipments? If so, and the platforms reported digital splits hold (PlayStation's 75% digital, Switch is 50% digital, and Xbox is 90% digital), then PS4/5 would be 12.32m physical and digital, Switch would be 2.41m physical and digital, and Xbox would be 2.1m physical and digital. PlayStation's running away with the lead, but the other two platforms are definitely posting good enough numbers to warrant the investments.

As soon as Capcom skips Xbox for their next game, they are all gonna rally behind Jizz Corden and blame it on a "super secret exclusivity deal with Sony."

Did you round the percentages down? The guy a few posts up said it was 78% , 91% & 53% which I used & they come closer to the 19m total for consoles.

Yeah, when doing napkin math I always round down to get "worst case scenario" results. I prefer to underestimate than overestimate for these kinds of contextual numbers.

Yeah you really shouldn't do that lol

I know it simplifies things to get a quick idea of how things are but it can throw the actual numbers off .

I highly doubt Capcom is going to list just physical in a report like this.
