Terrible news, the poor man and his family didn't deserve this. Gunning people down that disagree with your views is not a solution to anything.

Political violence in the USA is getting more visible and extreme and tensions are increasingly getting stoked online. The capitol riots, attempted Trump assassination, Democratic legislators getting murdered and now this tragedy. Just look at some of the comments here and elsewhere, whenever somebody on the opposing political spectrum does anything terrible it apparently means everyone on that political side is at fault and is probably evil. At this rate things are just getting worse, politicians are going to call for calm and unity but next week the rhetoric will just flame up again until the next political figure is killed. When political thought and such severe tribalism divides a nation it eventually leads to really bad things. A house divided against itself, cannot stand.
 
I didn't follow Kirk or watch his content. Id only see his trending Twitter posts occasionally. I know he was very much hated by the left though, and I believe he was recently on South Park. His impact was undeniable.

I feel awful for him and his family. No one should go through that and we have a hundred different angles of the shot that will be on the internet for his kids to see eventually.

Curious to see where we as a country goes from here. If things don't change, the end game will be bad for all of us. Your $300 Cloud husbando status from PlayAsia will be the least of your worries.

Very sad news. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

There are lots of people that I disagree with on a political level. That's normal in a democracy. I wouldn't wish them harm for having an opposing view. I want them to be able to freely share their beliefs.

Oh, and fuck the purple place and anyone else celebrating this news.

Shouldnt really be surprising.

The left is the side that wants freedom, chaos, violent protests etc... Look at the hippy age of people cruising around smoking weed in VW vans fucking all day. Those arent conservatives. Those are live for the day Jeff Spicolis of the world.

So any person, company, boss or home life that promotes any kind of order, authority, running a tight ship instead blowing budgets and handouts will always be viewed as the enemy. It's a paradox because they want freedom to do or say this or that and cause trouble. But when other sides have views too, you'd think the left would be the one whose like..... "Ya, good point. Great to see we all have different views in life". Instead, it's hatred, doxxing, cancel culture, etc...

It's so fuckin disheartening that we live in a world where assassinating someone you disagree with is an option, and a very loud and very vocal group of mentally ill people will have platforms to cheer this person on with no consequence. I want off this ride.

Nothing is going to change.

The politicians will do their usual "we can't let this happen again" type shit and then life will go on exactly the same.

You can disagree robustly with people, but to shoot them dead for their views is deplorable.

Their is a poison in the United States at the moment that needs eradicating.

Well, Kirk said some gun violence is unfortunate but necessary and also said empathy is a made up word for pussies so I guess everyone should be perfectly ok with this attack and feel nothing if he ends up passing away. His own words.

I don't think anything will change. Obviously remains to be seen who the shooter is or what their motives were, but not knowing that currently, the debate will come down to guns and online censorship. And both are protected by our constitution. So I don't see much changing. It'll be people saying we need tougher gun laws or to get rid of them. Or it'll be people saying we need more online censorship to get rid of hate. People will bicker about that for a couple weeks until the next big story and then the debates will be about that other thing. And on and on it goes.
 
Charlie Kirk was no radical. He expressed many of the exact same mainstream views held by many people across the country. He was just a guy who expressed his views and encouraged others to come directly to him, in person, and do the same. And he died doing exactly that.

Cannot say the same about the coward who ended that exchange of views from hundreds of yards away and then ran away.

Where i am from (which is Europe), i would fall under the left. The Left is a very generic term, in this case you obviously mean the US's Left.

Having said that, given there is now a confirmed fatality and combined with the stabbing of the Ukrainian woman yesterday, this fizzling hot pot has been fizzling for too long and its about to set off.

Terrible happening either way. This was an open debate. Disagreement or political sides are never an excuse to quite literally silence them by gunshot.
