Neighbours from Hell
I've been reading a lot of "Choose a side" stuff online the past few days. I agree a "side" needs to be chosen. Not a side of left vs right. Not even a side of good vs evil. People will always convince themselves that their beliefs are good and opposing beliefs are evil, so that I don't think is a compelling message any longer.
The side that needs to be chosen is choosing to look for the good in others rather than looking for the bad. If we start there, I think that will be the most effective way of accepting other ideas and other people. We can preach "Just have a conversation! Accept the ideas of others!" all you want, but that is far less likely to happen if you view that person as a vile piece of shit.
Whether it's Charlie Kirk or someone else, people like that can have 50 different beliefs you disagree with and some you even find toxic. But I guarantee he also had 50+ beliefs you would strongly agree with. We have been rewired in recent years as a society to look for the bad in people. Society cannot function in unity with that mindset, it just can't. And choosing to look for the good in others will make you a lot happier as a person I promise.
