Was the last Mission Impossible film any use? Was considering getting the Blu Ray but was put off by Simon Pegg.

I wonder if they will go for the ending of the manga. They should.

The movie should also be called "All You Need Is Murder", but that's not going to happen, lol.

I don't remember if she dies (watching again right now), but now the sequel can be him trying to save her.

Hollywood always gotta run everything in the ground. Goddamn just find another sci fi anime to adapt that actually has sequel potential.

i thought the first movie was really great but i'm not sure why we need another one

at the very least, i hope this propels Blunt's already-solid action chops directly into the MCU

Huh, I really liked the first one but I'm not sure it even needs any kind of sequel. I thought it ended on a good closing note.

The source material doesn't have a sequel (I think) so...what the hell is this going to be about?

I haven't read the light novel but if it's like the manga then it has basically no similarity to the movie, except the gimmick and the badass female.

Since all the aliens are dead, it would be awesome if they use this opportunity to do a complete genre shift and turn the movie into a romantic comedy, when Blunt and Cruise's characters both find themselves with a resurgence of the alien power and find themselves both inexplicably attracted to the same bisexual girl. It'll be like a mix of "Groundhog Day" and "This Means War".

He was in the last two, as well. Did you watch those? Rogue Nation is no Ghost Protocol, but still a lot of fun.

Maybe they'll think of something new and interesting. From what I hear, they already took liberties with the source... why wouldn't they be able to come up with their own story. McQuarrie is a talented dude.

I thought it made back its money and did ok. It made over 370 million world wide

If only this info was in an obvious place, like the OP or something...

GREAT! I look forward to this sequel. Hopefully WB won't do irreparable damage to the success of the film by changing its title multiple times.

Maybe make it a government or evil has developed a way to do what the aliens did. They have changed history to make it totally different. The general public basically slaves Cruise is the only one uneffected.

I'm so fucking happy Tom is a Scientologist. First movie was awesome and the book is also great.

The author of the original light novel the movie was based off of, All You Need is Kill, is writing a sequel. Still the movie only really used the basic idea of the book and loosely based some characters on ones in it, other than that there is a lot different,
for one the Full Metal Bitch willingly dies in the book to finally end the loop.

That said they could go the route of the Independence Day sequel where humanity utilizes the knowledge and tech of the aliens to upgrade our own weapons and defenses before a second invasion, or perhaps they take the fight to the aliens themselves.

On one hand: meh the first one ended pretty perfectly I think. Maybe if this one tied in without being a direct sequel or was a prequel covering the actions of Rita it would work.

On the other hand: YUUUUUSSS more groundhog day alien action bitchessssssss!!!!!!

On the third hand: they really need a better title for this one.

Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse have been tapped to write the sequel to Tom Cruise and Doug Liman’s sci-fi sleeper hit Edge of Tomorrow. The original film, also starring a buffed up Emily Blunt, was a guilty pleasure for many genre fans with its time-bending narrative and stylish chemistry between its two leads. Though a slow opener domestically, it eventually hit $100 million in the U.S.. More importantly, it was a bone fide smash internationally, grossing a further $270 million or so to make the case for a sequel pretty compelling. The original seemed to square up any loose ends pretty efficiently, though, so Shrapnel and Waterhouse will have to be inventive to find a way to get Blunt back in the mix with Cruise. Christopher McQuarrie is attached to direct.
What. There was nothing guilty about it! Damned good movie.

I'm willing to see what they come up with for a sequel, but it'll be tricky.

Give me a prequel with the chick having the powers. As good as Tom Cruise was, I want to see that chick again fighting with her big metal sword.

This was certainly a movie that should have made more money but the marketing and generic name hurt it big time I think. "Live. Die. Repeat." is absolutely the better, more marketable name and it explains the concept rather... Bluntly. Edge of Tomorrow could have been the name for a dozen different kinds of movies and ultimately forgettable.
