You'd have still said it had I not brought it up last week :lol

Anyways, third or forth week straight I won't be seeing it live. Hopefully catch it tomorrow.

Of course I would have! But then it would have been for me, not for you. ;)

Black Licorice is scary.

(Great episode.)

I want to know what Mama Bartowski recorded on that talking doll.

Good episode, but not great. They used Englund well enough, and moved the mythology forward enough.

And now I guess we know what Chuck and Sarah's first fight will be about then.

That was a great episode. The triple/quadruple/whatever (I lost the count at the end) twist with Mama Bartowski was getting a little old by the end though. Next episode needs to answer that definitively in some way.

I was stuck on the living room TV where two shows were recording at 9PM, so I missed the last 2 minutes, which ticked me off a bit :/. On the other hand, the glimpse my mom saw of the show got her curious, so that's good :D

I had DVR issues of my own (although minor). After Chuck received the call from his mom at the beginning, I saw Sarah walk outside then it skipped ahead one minute to Chuck sitting in the park.

As for the episode itself, I really enjoyed it. I know some people thought they were going to far for comedy this season, so this episode was a nice change of pace. Robert Englund got a good amount of screen time and I liked how they worked the B-plot into the main plot this week.

- All of the Buy More stuff was pretty fantastic, although the amount of shirtless Jeff I have seen this year is starting to make me wonder about some of the writers on this show. Also some of the stuff that Jeff find scary is just... yeah; otters, babies in costumes, interspecies relations.

- Morgan had some fantastic lines. "Not bad scary like war...and bears." and "I love our give and take... classic Ross and Rachael!" were my favorites. His scene getting advice from Big Mike was also great.

- I thought most of the stuff with Chuck and his mom was really good, especially the standoff at the beginning. So far I think Linda Hamilton has proven to be a great choice.

- Casey was great as usual at being the more cautious one of the group. I am also glad they are continuing to pair him up with Morgan since that usually results in hilarity.

- The gas thing was a bit goofy at the end. Both that they were concerned with it going off when they have gas masks (or they could have just locked it in a different room), and I thought Chuck's nightmare was a bit lame. The exception being when Sarah got shot and I wish they would have played that out a bit more just to see Chuck's reaction. On the other hand the whole scene lead to a good, if not obvious, payout inside the Aisle of Terror.

Edit:

- While I have no doubt the end kidnapping is going to lead to the plot/title of next week's episode, I did like that they actually had Sarah attempt to briefly explain why she was doing what she was doing. Both with pointing out they that she has more information and going back to the blind spot. Much better handled then the usual failure to point out something that would at least give context to the other person.

Decent episode - I agree w/ PhonicleBone's comments: Englund was good, moved the mythology forward. Solid work from Hamilton, though there were too many head fakes as to her agent/double-agent/triple-agent status. Morgan and Casey continue to be hilarious.

Great episode overall, but I thought Morgan's part was weak. Also do people really look at those reviews of the chuck episodes? I don't get the point of those.

Morgan on his own is kind of lackluster, but paired with certain characters, Casey in particular, and it turns into gold almost every time. The Morgan story part may not have been the best, but the comedy delivered. Especially when he tried taking off his glasses.

Speaking of glasses: Sarah in that white dress with the glasses. Oh my.

I'm not hating on Morgan, just saying that today I didn't like his story.

Have to admit, I am losing interest in this show somewhat. They focus way too much on the relationship and not enough the comedy/spy shit. An episode or two is fine but the entire season? I haven't seen last weeks or tonights episode, has it improved much?

Yes. Very, very few relationship drama both last week and this week. Can't predict future episodes (although I personally expect it to come back in force next week if the title is any indication), but you should at the very least get caught up with the latest two, then wait & see for future unaired episodes. Last week was very heavy on the comedy side, while this week was the first true mythology episode we've had since the season premiere.

Jeffster killed me in this ep. I was skeptical at first, but I'm really liking the choice of Mama B now. A few minor quibbles about the end with the Dr, but overall great episode!

Amazing episode! Everything just clicked for me. I loved the whole ''is she or isn't she'' plotline in this episode. Then came the ending and you know this story can just get bigger and bigger.

What was the music that played when it came back from commercial to Morgan standing around, being the Magnet? I think it's the theme to a show, but I can't place what.

It occurs to me, Chuck didn't flash the entire episode.
Is that a first for the show?
I think it may have happened in season 3 somewhere also.

Short synopsis for 4.08, "Chuck vs. the Fear of Death" is up.

Chuck tries to prove himself by going on a hazardous mission; Casey and Morgan try to cover when the "Buy Morons'' investigate Greta's (Summer Glau) identity.

Just saw the ratings. I wonder how many more weeks it takes before The Event drops below Chuck.

Next episode. Easily.

Chuck has never looked better for renewal :lol

EDIT: Oh my god, Chase got a 1.3.

It's too bad that it was Enver Gjokaj's episode. Then again, I guess that's a higher rating than the entire second season of Dollhouse though :lol

Apparently The Event and Chase are pre-empted next week. With Chuck having a pre-emption of it's own, they'll only air together on Nov. 15. Since The Event is already bleeding viewers and heavily serialized, Chuck is most definitely becoming NBC's highest-rated Monday show by then.

Chuck has never looked better for renewal
Chuck was also the strongest NBC Monday show last spring

Another great episode, is it a baby or a snail killed me :lol :lol
Only downside was blatantly copying scarecrow, but it was pretty well done, so it's fine by me. Development of the story is interesting to now wonder what it will do for Chuck and Sarah's relationship.

Okay episode. Chuck's mom being like a quadruple agent felt kind of lame, and its a spy cliche that has been done to death. I also fear that the ending with Chuck exposing Sarah's face while she was kidnapping Chuck's mom will lead to more of our favorite thing, relationship angst. I think the keyword for this season so far (last year too, and in an even bigger way) is "inconsistency". The show can be great one week, and lacklustre the next. I think thats really my biggest disappointment. In S1 and S2, this was the most consistent show I watched.

- liked the calling out of the TV trope of never saying goodbye on the phone
- Jeff and Lester dancing :lol
- not feeling Linda Hamilton’s portrayal – half the time she comes off as dead serious, the other half she looks like she’s saying something funny
- Jeff: “theres nothing I wont do for $30 and a sandwich…… or just a sandwich” :lol :lol
- HD DVDs in the Buy More Someone should tell NBC that Blu-ray won

but ever so delicious
For some reason the relationship between chuck and his mother doesn't seem all that real to me. When they first met after 20 years i was expecting some sort of happy crying moment but instead it was just like two old spies had met up and were having a random chat about a shitty memory of a birthday.

Still enjoying the show though. It was a great episode with some great moments. I just feel the searching for mother aspect isn't working all that well.
