Yeah okay great, let's not make a thread for each sale now, 3+ million is already a good spot to celebrate, 3.3 million a bit less

32 devs and a cat made Expeditions 33, and now it sold 3.3 million copies. You seriously can't make this shit up! I'm obv exaggerating a bit here on the dev count.

It will probably catch up and exceed FFXVI at some point soon. Would be interesting to hear the chatter happening over this game at the higher ups offices at SE right now.

very well deserved. I'm blown away at what they accomplished. I really think it's a masterpiece of game design.

This is the kind of thing I wish Square-Enix would've shifted 25 years ago instead of the infantile Tetsuya Nomura cringe shit.

Sales look great.

Not sure if it will entice SE to make next Final Fantasy like this.

But at least they should up the budget for their smaller titles.

32 devs did not make Clair Obscur by themselves. They outsourced all the animations to a South Korean company and Lord knows what else was outsourced
After watching quite a few interviews, they haven't outsourced much. But since I'm lazy this guy is explaining it better:

Like he said, there is more people in the band that recorded the music than actual dev... Does this mean they are part of the dev team? Idk why some have a hate boner for this game. Core team is 33 people, even less in the first few years.

As a comment says:
"This is the same as going to a small family owned bakery and complaining they arent actually small and family owned because they didn't grow and mill the wheat themselves, and that they dont keep a cow they milk themselves in the back."

Well fucking deserved. Wishing for more too!

No. Make a thread for every new news cause that's how forums always were and always should be. Shoving news in one thread and it gets lost between replies is a no

Yeah, I couldn't agree more with this. New news deserves a new thread. I also don't get why some people post major updates in an old thread that's weeks/months old. The OP might be inactive, and then the title and OP don't get updated so people might be missing the new info. It's also making it awkward for those of us who post more frequently and want to share big news in a fresh thread. End of rant.

As it should. And other developers as well. This game (I hope) is a "dark souls" moment in the industry showing that there is a real market for mature and thoughtful games. One can only hope.

No kidding. "Infantile" is the best word for it.

It's been a horrible direction that has plagued Square for decades at this point.

Ffxiv and to a lesser extent (fumbled the execution) ffxvi seem to recognize this problem a little bit.

I just hope…. HOPE that many developers will recognize that they don't have to make their games so infantile to appeal to everyone. Drop the anime. Drop the campy bs. There is a market for it.

I don't understand this new lazy shit. Shoving new info in an old thread with lots of pages is a big no. The fuck? Just make a new thread you lazy cunts

100% with you mate :messenger_ok:

Great to see it finding the success it deserves, and it should get another nice boost when it sweeps GOTY.

Perhaps it's time for some others to consider lower launch prices instead of higher launch prices too, especially when launching new IP.

I think you missed the signifance.
We got the news for 500k, for 1 million, for 2 million, now for 3.3 million

Making a thread each time to have the same type of response, eh.

I know I won't be here for the thread about 3.76 million units sold

3.3m because it's Expedition 33... I don't think they'll announce 3.76m

I haven't finished this yet but I am thinking the exact same.

Although it's always changing between Returnal, KCD2 and this.

My top 3 would be this, Elden Ring and KCD2.

Helldivers 2 is also up there, in terms of hours played it's by far and away my most played game this gen and every minute has been a blast.

We've had some bangers in recent years, that's for sure.

Yeah and not just the writing/characters. Also the fact that there's no hand holding, environmental storytelling, stuff out there for you to explore and find on your own, no MMO side quest filler, no inventory management, etc

The game feels like a breath of fresh air in so many ways. I can't stop thinking about it.

"You guys hear about that Expedition 33 game, it's doing well"

"Not now, we're working on another awesome idea - this time part 3 will be FFVII: REtarded and after the multiverse implosion you fight Sephiroth for the 7th time and then Squall shows up and they all strike a pose together and say they need to assemble a team so you get Squall and Cloud but then we learn this isn't the Final Fantasy it's actually the First Fantasy but it happens 2 more times to become Fird Fantasy and we also have a new battle system called hybrid XR GT where you freely run around and attack but then a chessboard popups on screen and you play chess and the winner of the match gets a special powerup charm and if you win 3 matches of chess in the battle you can use a limit break but if you win 4 matches of chess you do a slot machine roll and if you win you get an ultima fusion core which you can then use to combine the power of Squall and Cloud together but only if you're aligned opposite colors (red/blue or green/yellow) because if you haven't matched you color crystal beforehand then it doesn't work)

"But maybe we could write characters who talk and act like adults with functioning brains"

"Nah our audience wouldn't get it. We need characters to yap on and on endlessly, taking in circles repeating themselves and pointing out obvious things. Every conversation should last 3x as long as it needs to. Characters should narrate every action they do. Any time something of minor significance happens, the party should break out into conversation so everyone can take turns stating their reaction to it. And have them make nonstop grunting and sighing noises any time a thought passes through their head, just to make sure nobody misses it."
