WTF? When did you guys make this thread, and why wasn't I notified?! There's like nine of us on GAF that even watch this show regularly... you guys gotta have my back! I trusted you!

haha... anyways...

just bought S3 today. Can't wait to really rewatch this show. Plus since it's only 20 bucks I think I'm gonna have to grab a couple extras and gift them out, to kinda browbeat friends into watching this show.

also, thanks for the heads up about Adrienne Palicki. Gonna have to check out the other ladies from the show. I'm under the assumption, though, that the girl who plays Julie really is a teenager still. Is that incorrect?

im always accepting gifts...season 3 box set would be amazing xD

I think when i get time I'm gonna rewatch the Smash arc in S3 again. I was just thinking about how fucking ballsy most of the moves in S3 were, but Smash was the ballsiest. They could've easily left him with that black coach that had wanted to coach him since he was a little kid in S2, that would've been a good finale for him. But S3, they had the balls to cut that out from under him and have the audience put their confidence in the writers that they knew where to go with it. And man. They took it to a whole nother level.Just unreal how perfect it was.

Just finished episode 8 of s1, Crossing The Line. One of my favorites for sure.

Some fantastic scenes here.. (
Street's breakdown after the quad rugby game, Coach/Julie ping pong
, etc)

Finished S3, loved it, but
i don't really look forward to S4, i mean i loved all the chars too much and i don't like the idea of a completely new team. We'll see, i guess. I'll miss Riggins and the other guys though and i seriously hope they don't screw up Matt & Julie relationship, they already did it in S2, so leave 'em alone!

Well, we're still gonna
see the other characters. The only people leaving are
Lyla and Tyra, similar to Street/Smash in season three
.

Really?
I thought Tim was gone too, i read somewhere about Matt/Julie/Laundry staying. Cool, i guess, but even if it stays what will he do? Will they show him playing in his new college team? What about Matt? If he stays in town, he surely cannot play in a high school team anymore, i think

Well, of course he can't do that.

But he could always work for the Coach while he figures out what to do next ;).

Or something like that.

My wife and I started watching for the first time. On Ep. 11 of Season 1.

This really is the best show I've ever seen.
Thank you gaf.

I just watched episode 10. One of the more mediocre episodes of the season imo
except for the Matt/Julie/Coach stuff
.

Lol, I think I said the same thing a couple of posts up.

Just a question for those who have seen the NBC cuts/ the S3 DVD set.

Did Landry's band's performances get cut? What about the performances of She Don't Use Jelly?

I was wondering if music rights stuff got in the way.

Edit: Don't cry Julie, nothing happened!

Well, FINALLY watched the first episode!:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
It was fucking great, at first I wasn't liking it! But, the last 15 minutes won me over!
GODDAM, Minka Kelly is hoooot. Can't believe she's 28!:lol :lol
WTF at Street, I know he gets fucked but not the first episode.
Oh, and gdt I can see why Matt is your favorite character! NOT liking that black guy though hope he gets his head out of his ass! I think I'll give it a try!

Smash (the black guy) is awesome!

He's not as one-dimensional as he seems. As you learn more about him, you get an idea why he's the way he is.

No it's still in there. I've been meaning to ask about what was cut as well because watching the deleted scenes, just about everything should have been kept in.

Especially that Matt and Julie storyline. >:(

Yea, I'd also like to wait to buy the DVD version of the original show, not these cut ones with new shit.
Not gonna happen. With this crazy DirectTV deal, DTV owns those versions and NBC has distribution rights on the cut versions.

As much as I'd like to own the DTV cuts officially, that aint happening. The NBC cuts will have to (and did, seeing as I got the set right next to me) do.

Well, just got done with the first 8 episodes, and WTF this show is fucking amazing, I hate football, but this show actually makes me care about it.
Matt so far is my favorite character, mainly because he's close to how I was in high school, Jason is just a damn nice guy, totally got fucked! Lyla is just OMFGHshiiiieet hot, I mean goddam "dat ass"! but I think Julie is the cutest and most adorable girl on the show, and I relate to the most mainly because I had no "teen spirit" in high school, football is sadly taken waaaaaaaay to seriously in this town, but I guess that's all they have. I hope Matt and Julie last, from that first date! I like tim too, but he seriously needs to man up and better himself! Also I'm still not liking Smash, with the you know what and everything, I know he's just worried about his family and everything, but still, it's just stupid! The blonde pretty girl seems to be on the show just for looks, don't really care for her all that much!

The Coach and his wife:lol :lol :lol , are definitely fucking awesome, and holy shit at Kyle Chandler. The motherfucker can act, I've never seen him in anything I don't think, but dam is he good. Over all I'm loving it too death, I thought I would hate it, but it's truly an awesome show. I also love the direction, kind of has the Soderbergh look to it!

Actually its

I was quoting President Bartlett from The West Wing but yours would've been more appropriate for this thread I guess... :lol

LOL at episode 9 on the first season, when Matt had to sing for his grandma! Damn that's was the most embarrassing thing ever! Then Julie comes in and goes, I just let this other dude drive me home! WTF!!:lol :lol
Also I loving the title music, is it a full song, or just made for the show??

Goddamnit neoism, this is the second thread you beat me to!

I haven't watched for a couple of days, but I'll watch my next episode in a bit.

Edit: That scene was embarrassing for Matt, but it was also incredibly sweet/heartwarming/heartbreaking all at the same time. Something that this show does sooooooooooooo well, probably better than any other show.

The theme song is awesome. I remember listening to sports talk out here. It was just the saturday guy trying to get people to start watching the show, so every time they came back from break he'd come back to the FNL theme song. it was awesome.

Really.... I've heard that song like 100 times probably my fav by them, it sounds different!

I agree, but I have to tell you though, Matt is likable and all, but goddamn why is he soo overly polite, and fidgety, I mean I relate somewhat, but you'd think he'd gained some confidence sense the first episode! I like Jason a lot and that story line, and Lyla is so goddamn hot, but a little annoying. I also don't care for all the religious stuff! Julie is the prettiest and coolest though, I still don't know why they don't focus on Matt and her more, and why they are together. I mean she hated/hates football, but is dating the QB! I kind of knew the show would focus on FB a lot, and I'm surprised it doesn't bother me as much as I thought! So far I love the show, but I can't help be think that... it just seems like some of the characters are one dimensional! I probably won't think that after I watch more episodes, I'm only on ep S1E13. I also thought the story lines would be/feel a lot more "closer" The coach and the wife are my fav character's soo far, I loved when the Coach was like WTF's with the BLANKET:lol :lol poor Matt ain't never goin tap that!:lol :lol

Also without spoiling much, why is season 2 soo shitty, and what's with all that cut scene shit in season 3!

I could never agree with the characters being one dimensional (except for a few, maybe).

Matt just seems like he was raised by a serious southern grandma. And lets face it, Matt is nowhere near as good as Jason or Voodoo (thats what his "heart" is all about though). Thats why he sometimes has little confidence on/off the field (and other personal things of course).

And Matt is QB1, but he's not really a typical jock. If you remember some scenes in the Pilot and comments from Jason in episode 2, Matt is an artist. It's mentioned a couple times throughout the show, especially in S3.

And the Christian thing, I actually like that FNL doesn't work around Religion in Texas. It's there, everyone follows the same god, and thats just the way it is. It's not in the forefront, but it's not not mentioned either.

Oh boy...S2. It just starts off all wrong. A lot of the lovable characters became extremely unlikable in S2. Especially
Julie
. Some crazy and not-good storylines pop up. *shudders*

But, it's still FNL. The season gets better and better towards the end, though. And it has a couple of fantastic episodes. Episode 14 also has probably the best scene in the entire show.

And S3. I've talked on and on about how S3 is my favorite season ever. But the S3 DVD is a bit...lacking. They have the NBC cuts of the episodes, instead of the original Direct TV cuts (which are longer, and feature music chosen by the creators of the show). So the NBC cuts are shorter, and usually has poorer music choices. Sad, I know.

At least it has tons of those deleted scenes.

The first part, that's what I'm talking about, I just wish they'd show that stuff!

Second part WTF that's sucks!

Three part (S3) WTF the really sucks, I'm still looking forward to seeing the later episodes/seasons though!

1) Yeah, it's never really in the forefront. But it's there and consistent. For example, in S2 theres a scene in his art class (thats not really a spoiler).

2) Don't worry S3 will make you love
her
even more. S3 will make you love EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER more than you did before. Especially [mentioned] and the already always loved
Matt
.

3) Yeah, it does suck. If...you...can, I suggest watching...those DTV cuts...somehow.

Hey guys; I've been watching on Netflix (<3 streaming). I'm at S2E07; really enjoyed season one but, as apparently most people have found, season two is just getting on my nerves. So many things just don't feel natural:
Matt and the nurse, which is just getting started (first kiss was in E07 I think)
, plus it look like they're setting up some sort of
Julie and journalism teacher
business; hopefully
teacher has pure intentions and will try to let her down easy
, but something about him seems... sketchy.

That said, this thread does not have nearly enough Landry love. While he's saddled with my least favorite storyline in S2 (
although if he'd turned himself in instead of listening to the hot bitch, it might've worked out okay...
), in S1 the kid was just all manner of hilarious. I'm also not a fan that they've
put him on the football team--the episode where he gives the halftime speech just felt waaaay forced
.

Damn Costanza, you blew past me!

I've been helping my cousin move all day (he gave me $20!), but I'm done now. I'll watch an episode or three the rest of the day.

Finished S1 a couple hours ago. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo good.

What ep are you on gdt?

I'm starting episode 15 (disc 4) in a bit. Gonna speed through a couple of episodes tonight.

I'm on E17 now! Damn, this show is fucking awesome. I wasn't liking E15, and 16 and the
Racism, it just seemed so forced. But in the end it turned out good.
Not liking Tyra at all, she's probably going to get Julie in more trouble than she has soo far! Speaking of which, I'm on "I think we should have Sex" E17. HOLY SHIT that girl is awesome, if I was Matt I would have shit,:lol :lol I'm glad they're finally starting to act comfortable with each other!
