It doesn't get the exposure of an article.
The most popular thing on Giant Bomb is the Bombcast. You'd be shocked at how many people listen to it weekly.

Well, he would have 4 or 5 years ago, but having a cushy, relatively "safe" job at Giant Bomb is much more fun than digging for stories and trying to work your way up from the bottom and make a name for yourself, like he did with the IW story.Stop pretending they're journalists and we can all move forward. Patrick reports on news he can get, but he's not going to start digging around or pressing Microsoft for answers.
but totalbiscuit said twitter campaigns were a waste of time and don't actually contribute anything at all
The developers deserve exactly zero dollars from used game sales.Money should go to the developer not retailers. Gamestop makes $1.4B in profits just from used games. They made $2.2B in profits 2012.
Sony hasnt't made a penny. If you add the profits of MS, Unbisoft, EA, Square, Capcom it is not the same as what gamestop makes every year.
No, the best part was him completely ignoring that and continuing on like he never read it.

Sounds like a problem with their business model.

Folks like Collin, Greg from IGN has spoken about this for years. Even in GT weekly podcast they spoke about it. Every one keeps saying that money should go the developer.
Right now, if they say any thing explicit people will get all rallied up that they are being paid by MS to act as their PR. So any one who doesnt support used games are simply not being very vocal.
I was wondering, do you have any links for this particular saga? He constantly tweets about SC2/Dota 2 and general rambling so it's really hard to sort through his feed.

They deserve to be called out. They have sounded like Microsoft shills on their past two podcasts. It's embarrassing to listen to.
If what Jeff has said in the past is true the bombcast gets more unique traffic than their site.

That's sad.

I don't see why that's funny unless you mean they have reported on it. If not, I didn't realize Giant Bomb hadn't reported on what is probably the single biggest issue in gaming right now. It's probably the biggest gaming news at all right now aside from E3 and the new consoles themselves. So if they haven't, why not?
Wow, TB is a giant douchebag.
The letter wouldn't reach them until after E3, though.If we'd written a letter then all this shit would have been sorted by now ;_;
Yeah, well, neither do Let's Plays
That's sad.
Why would Giantbomb report on this? Giantbomb isn't a Gamespot/Polygon. Have you ever visited the website before?
It's their signature content and the driving force of the website.
It's not sad. Their focus is not on articles, but audio and video content.
And Patrick has done multiple articles on this already btw. Not the campaign, but the DRM and the fumbling by Microsoft.
What are you talking about? I've both heard Jeff and Ryan specifically say "If X is true or if they don't do Y then they've seriously fucked up" and when the other people sounded like they were praising the TV focus on X1 you could almost tell he was holding back from saying "No, it sucks".
Yeah, well, neither do Let's Plays
Microsoft has given media similar statements; trust me when I say IGN is digging deeper into this and working on reporting what the hell is going on.
People who are talking about IGN and GiantBomb podcasts and articles that generally discuss used games are missing the point... admittedly, I could have phrased the title better to reflect it, but the point is that fans are trying to reach out directly to these companies as a united front and it's worth reporting on.
Well to be fair...TB doesnt do LPs.

As far as i remember the gaming media did a pretty good job getting answer from MS at the conference. Until MS decided to shut up, just like Sony did.
What do you expect? that they post every e-mail where they get "no comment, wait for E3" as an answer? And Giantbomb, along with quite a few other sites, have discussed the issue extensively. Even if they weren't as outraged as we were.

Wow, what's wrong with this guy? Is he sour because he isn't the center of attention here or something? Famousmortimer clearly sparked this movement with his thread and it gained a lot of traction. Deal with it, TB. It's not you, it was someone else.![]()
